I believe I was first exposed to Adam West's campy Batman (and Robin's obsession with all things "holy.")  For the longest time, I thought Keaton was the best Batman; opposite Nicholson's Joker.  And, despite my difficulty hearing what the hell he was saying for much of the second film, I enjoyed Christian Bale's portrayal of the caped crusader, and he weren't a bad Bruce Wayne neither (spoiler: Batman is Bruce Wayne is Batman).  The exceptional "Batman: The Animated Series" made me appreciate Conroy's portrayal.  I'd like to think Affleck's being cast as Batman is just an elaborate prank that has gone on overlong.

In your opinion, who is the best Batman?  If you can't choose just one: Who are the best Batmen? x )

Well the best batman is and always will be Kevin Conroy unless someone else was to play the character for 20 years to quote Kevin "after playing batman for 20 years I know what makes him tick I can go in to a session and say, no batman would not say this batman would say..." Also;

Mark Hamill is the best Joker.

Troy Baker is the best Robin.

Michael Cain is the best Alfred.

George Clooney, because he was the most goofy & terrifail Batman, and it was bloody hilarious. For that, he is the best Batman to me. The other Batmen are too serious, they honestly bore me.  :maud:

Yes, im serious. :maud:

On a more serious note, I don't really know since I never really cared about Batman. I just make jokes about him...

I think Christian Bale portrayed Batman the best, but Michael Keaton is, and always will be, Batman.

Adam West - Funny, iconic...  You got to love how much fun he has with this material.

Michael Keaton - First good balance of fun and seriousness.  He deserved the credit he got for it.

Val Kilmer - Worst Batman.  Very little impression.

George Clooney - Capable Batman.  Would have been great in a better movie.

Christian Bale - Fantastic Bruce Wayne, So-so Batman.

Ben Affleck - Looks the part, can pull of some great acting (Everyone cites Gigli not Argo with this guy :/ )  Looking forward to how he handles it because as far as that trailer shows, he looks good as Bruce AND Batman.  Which I don't think any actor has pulled off perfectly.

Kevin Conroy because he did a good job at voice acting as Batman.

All my life needed was a sense of someplace to go. I don't believe that one should devote his life to morbid self-attention. I believe that someone should become a person like other people.

  • 3 weeks later...

Kevin Conroy has been my favorite Batman since 1993 and is still Batman to this day with the upcoming release of Batman: Arkham Knight.

Live-action wise, I choose Bale who did a superb job in The Dark Knight Trilogy.  He owned the character of Bruce Wayne/Batman like no other actor who came before him except of Adam West.  West did a great job back in his day and I have really warmed up to the 1966 series over the years.  Keaton had Batman's look down, but he never came off all that interesting in his two films which chose to focus and develop their villains over their title character.  Kilmer and looney were both forgettable.

I think Affleck will do a fine job.

I honestly think Keaton was the best Bruce/Batman, but I think the Dark Knight trilogy are the superior pictures.  I think Bale did a fantastic job, but at times...well, forgive me for saying so, but I kind of think his face looked a bit...well...goofy.  He just looked sorta derpy at times.  I could never really get past it.  I mean, it didn't ruin the movies for me at all.  And his suit was certainly more realistic and functional.  It was the most realistic, believable, serious depiction of Batman you could ever get, for sure, but Keaton just looked more badass and cool to me.  And I did like his voice better.

Now, as for the Joker, Nicholson was classic and more quotable, but Ledger was absolutely the definitive Joker, imo.
