Do Unicorns have bad eyesight?

Or alternatively are Pegasus eyes really good?

So from what I've seen and recall from the show,  Twilight and Rarity are the only ones out of the Mane 6 to be seen wearing eye-wear (I'm not counting sunglasses) and a unicorns in general seem to wear corrective lenses more often than the other tribes, though weather its more of a fashion statement or actually needed I can't say for certain..  I know I've seen glasses on Mayor Mare and Granny Smith, but they are not young like what I've seen with unicorn.  Also I've never seen (or don't recall at this moment) pegasi (or whatever the plural is) ever wearing glasses, but given that they are fliers and birds have some of the best eyesight in all of the animal kingdom, that sort of makes sense to me.  What are your thoughts on this?

Rarity wears them only when designing. This is common in any discipline related to artisan crafting. Those red glasses don't provide normal focus, but magnification allowing the wearer to see fine details that perfect vision would miss.

I also forgot this. Pegasi do need glasses

In addition to what Jeric mentioned, glasses are also commonly associated with academics and professional administrators. Unicorns, as we've seen, often fill those roles. They may wear reading glasses to assist in reviewing fine script on a daily basis.

Very true.  Also thanks for the pic. I knew there was probably a Pegasus out there that worn glasses.

If you are saying that do Unicorns in general tend to have weaker eyesight than the other two races then here is my theory on that.

Earth Ponies and Unicorns in general have decent eyesight but most Pegasi have excellent eyes because they need them to be good fliers (kind of like how pilots in the real world need good eyesight)

That's just a theory though and I would not say Unicorns have bad eyesight. Only the ones that wear glasses would.

Well, Twilight only wore glasses once in Lesson Zero, just to so she could look like a legit therapist, so i don't think that she has bad eyesight.

But Honestly? I wish she would wear glasses more often, because they look good on her. :P

Glasses make anyone and anypony look good. *swoon.*

But yeah, it's similar to my predicament. I wear prescription reading glass because I often have to focus on a computer screen or else read things quite a lot through the day. That's all I need them for though; my general eye-sight elsewhere is pretty good. However if I read without them my headaches become more prevalent.

So yeah; agreed with what Jeric and Spoon said.

And Hypno. :3

I'm certain Trenderhoof wore them. Maybe your hypothesis olds some water.

It may even be that each type of pony has weaker senses alongside their strengths.

Earth     - ??

Pegusus - ??

Unicorn - bad sight

I guess I've yet to observe anything else like that which applies to the other types of ponies.

I think that the glasses are just a part of the character design.

Don't you even know how to brony? Nothing is ever just part of the character design! Everything must be analysed!

Everything.

Has.

Meaning.

If it is true and unicorns have relatively "bad" eyesight, then I have a theory:

Their horns evolved from the visual nerve, and therefore it has to carry both visual signals and magical signals.

And their visual cortexes could be smaller than average because some of the space is used up by the magical cortex.

The "visual cortex" is located on the back of the brain, so nope.

I know. What I meant was, that if the horn evolved from the visual system, then the "magical cortex" would be on the back of the brain as well.
