So the Grand Galloping Gala was back in town. After watching the show something occurred to me. The behavior of the ponies seems to have changed during this time. They seem a bit cold, mean, distant and selfish. The same thing happened in the first Grand Galloping Gala. When it's time of gathering together and enjoying each others company it becomes an event where ponies become mean spirited little things.

 

And who changes? It's the ponies. It seems the Grand Galloping Gala has no effect on non-ponies like Spike and Discord as they are always put into a befuddled position on why the ponies all act up. So my theory is that the Grand Galloping Gala takes time in a season or day when ponies go through a "equinestraul/equestral cycle" or something when their emotions are shot and agitated. I guess you could say since it's a big event all the ponies become frantic to meet higher snobby folks and become anxious to move higher up on the social ladder but the other thing could exist too.

• Fluttershy's inconsiderate behavior towards Discord

• Celestia acting completely irresponsible (and probably punch drunk) saying she brought Discord to cause chaos without any thought that he could really hurt someone if pushed far enough

• The severe lack of manners the CMC had towards Discord

• Maud Pie being a joking bully

I don't think anyone was particualarly out of character, Celestia established that she always felt the gala was a boring party that'd she wished would liven up, and the CMC are kids, and kids tend to act up a  bit when going to a big event out of excitment,  and I don't think they were aware that discord was reformed so they might just becating rude because they think he's a villian. Fluttershy explained her actions pretty well at the end and maud is as hard to read as ever so  I've fot no explanaition for what happened there.  But you should also keep in mind that a party on the scale of the gala can cause alot of stress for anyone so they might just be a tad wound up from preparing the party. But I didn't see anyone acting too odd save for maybe discord and pinkie, but thats normal for them.
