Anyways. What I was doing with that post:

Operating off OOC knowledge, Ironeye is a -potential- bearer for the element. This is partially based on genetics, being a direct descendant of somepony who would have had some exposure to the Element in the past (cause Royal Guard duties and such). That and Ironeye is supposed to be a powerful unicorn in her own right, albeit much more chaotic than Twilight and with -zero- proper schooling on controlling herself (either magic or her personal desires). As such, it would probably consider her. Then it'd spit her out with a big pile of 'NOPE' mixed with 'try again tomorrow'. So conceivably the encounter could alter into a better candidate over time. As for the magic flow, I imagine the Element had been pretty starved for it, being stuck with the Changelings for a while (which seem to have a different kind of magic altogether) and then used that initial taken bit to mass produce more which it then gave back as a kind of symbiotic thing, which also got her up and walking.

She's kind of like that kid who -wants- to play with the others on the playground, but hasn't figured out/hasn't been taught how to handle those other kids. Bit like Rainbow Dash I think?

With Amorè being a halfling, the Element would have pony magic. And the element itself and its magic is neutral to all races so changelings having it for a time shouldn'thave affected it in a negative way.

 

Also the element itself is the source of power for the tree of harmony. So the element would have acted as a battery and wouldn'tneed to absorb magic to trigger. This is what I got from the episode involving the tree of harmony. The elements were batteries that gave the tree power.

 

In essence the elements themselves are the essence of harmony and live independently from all forms of magic.

Friendship is the purest form of magic. It's magic, but not exactly the same kind that unicorns use every day. The elements are essentially this form of magic. To be an element bearer, one must possess both the potential and the FRIENDSHIP.

I don't think the element of magic should have been trying to take Ironeye's magic. How about it was just testing it? She sensed a potential bearer. The element reached out to try and bond with Ironeye, then realized Ironeye wasn't ready because she doesn't possess the essential spark. So it gave the magic back, and some of its own so it made a bond but not a strong one, which ended up healing Ironeye in the process.

Will that work for everyone?

So when he captured the mane six we can assume he found a way to drain the magic from the elements (not necessarily consume it) so essentially thesee "batteries" are dead. So in order to be used again they may have to resort to a matter of magical vampirism on its wielder to become an element again. Which could be what allows them to change form to their wielder's cutie mark. Let alone in nightmare moon when they were separated from the tree they were stone so in other words their magical energy was gone until they came in contact with the mane six.

That wouldn't be possible. That same episode also showed that the six still had the power of the elements even after losing their magic. The elements being the most basic and primal form of magic, it would have a taste Tirek wouldn't have wanted. It's the same for why changelings still have their magic. Because they were still linked to the elements when the elements still had their magic. I'm saying that they just need a small amount of magic from its user to reactivate, not where it constantly needs to feed off them to be used.

I agree with red in this because the element would need to check a potential bearer. Also the element would gain a link that tells it when the bearer is finally ready to be the bearer or if a better candidate is close to the linked one.

We're going to need to either sneak in and try and find out where they're located and their appearances, or take one of the bandits hostage and find out from them.

Anyway, interesting conversation going on here. I have my own tuppence to add. It's not certain that Ironeye is the bearer of magic. While it was initially attracted to her because of her raw power, I agree with what Aurora said a while back--bearers of magic need leadership capabilities. Whoever between Radiant and Ironeye has matured into the stronger leader of the group will probably be the bearer of magic.

But meh, whatever's cool with you guys.

Nah we'll just go with the fact it was establishing a link and testing it's destined bearer. I still don't think they should require a feeling of friendship with its bearers since it is mainly looking for the embodied virtue.

 

The friendship is required for the element to link to the others though

Oh, don't worry about it, Strider will almost certainly die in part 3.

I am so excited for this part, haha... the bandits are awesome. XP

This is going to be our first test as DM~ we have some ideas of what some 'good' and 'bad' choices can be in the bandit city, but yeah. Hoping it all goes well~ Hoping that branching paths and stuff doesn't go out of control.
