Things in MLP that exist/hinted on but is not presented as much

Is there anything in MLP that is hinted on but is never presented well enough or not enough?

For me I found the Canterlot Royal Guards not represented well enough. Shining Armor and Flash Sentry can show how they run their rounds and mobilize for an attack from a big threat like Tirek (fail but still show a valiant stand). Shining Armor did guard the door to the throne room before being wiped clean from Tirek though.

Mage Meadowbrook and the eight magical items mentioned in the Cutie Map definitely count, and I'm hoping to see them play a role later in the season.

Certain characters and events from over 1000 years ago.

I mean during this time we had Nightmare Moon, Discord and King Sombra cause massive damage to Equestria but besides that we don't really know all that much about what happened during that time period and why all of those events happened during it.

Especially characters like Starswirl the Bearded who has been mentioned quite a lot throughout the series but we have never been able to learn about what he was like as a character or what happened to him exactly.

The same goes for Scorpan in a lesser effect, who I just really want to see in the show one of these days.

But yeah it would be really nice to learn more of the world's lore and history that we haven't yet witnessed yet.

(edited)

A lot of things have been used as plot devices, or plot pullys as i like to call them (which is completely irrelevant)

Like as others have said, Starswirl the bearded, who created a shite-load of spells and was around when the sisters came to power, and also his apprentice Clover the Clever, who "mysteriously disappeared", how convienent.

Also the areas that are not Equestria. Equestria is not a planet, its a country, or possibly large enough to be a continent. But there are stil areas that aren't included, like the griffon kingdom. Celestia and Luna raise the sun and moon, but do they rule everywhere?

Lastly, to a lesser extent, the teasers at the end of episodes, like fluttershys bat teeth at the end of Bats, stuff like that

The only ones I can think of have already been mentioned by previous posters.

I will say this about Starswirl the Bearded though, we hear so much about him I was really expecting that maybe one day we'll have a time-travel episode where we see Starswirl when he was alive.

Another is the Royal Guard of course. If Equestria has a royal guard then does that mean they have a regular army too? Except for the odd super-villain, Equestria is really peaceful so why does it have such a large royal guard? Are they fighting a war against the dragons and neighboring states?

One word. Celestia. She rarely ever appears, and there is next to nothing on her backstory, aside from the Journal of the two sisters.

Agreed, I want to see more on the sisters and maybe give Cadence some kind of background.

I'm curious about Luna's royal guards. Why do they have different eyes and batwings (yet obviously aren't evil, as they didn't get changed back when she did).

Well one big thing is guns.

Dash said "I need something fast like a bullet to keep up with me," and "it's time to bring out the big guns!" Not to mention naming her pet Tank.

So even if we don't see them, guns might exist in some capacity in Equestria, although due to the lack of conventional war and the natural abilities of it's people, I don't think they'd be along the lines of what we call modern hand weapons.

It does make one think that, if Dash is the one who makes the most reference to them, is she a weapons collector?  :P

The extent of the actions of certain characters a thousand years ago. We all know the big events; Nightmare Moon, Discord, Sombra, Tirek, etc. But what exactly did they do? Was Luna's descent gradual or immediate as the flashback seems to suggest? Was Discord's corruption more mischievous like when he returned or did he delve into sadism and torture? How extensive was Sombra's tyranny? Did Tirek try to steal magic from other territories before moving on to Equestria? Naturally, a lot of these questions can't be answered due to the nature of the show.

Now what about Tartarus? Again, more questions that are probably to dark to be answered in the show. Now, Greek mythology shows Tartarus to be prison of the Titans. Twilight stated that Tartarus serves as a prison to many evil creatures, probably complete and total eldritch abominations. Cerberus, ripped directly from mythology, also guards its gates. The allegory to the prison of the Titans is complete. However, Greek mythology also shows that Tartarus is also the prison and torture chamber of the souls of evildoers. In this light, Tartarus is quite literally what we know of as Hell. Does this fact remain true in Equestria?

How exactly Celestia and Luna were able to wield three elements of harmony each is my question; furthermore, how was Celestia able to use the elements against her sister by herself? I thought harmony meant more than one person?

I also agree that Starswirl is not explained nearly enough. If he is as important as the writers have played him up to be, I'd like to hear more about his history.

I'd also really like to hear more about Applejack's and Fluttershy's parents. Are both of their sets of parents dead? It's practically canon that Applejack's parents are dead, but Fluttershy's have never even been mentioned. I'd really like to see another background episode with the mane six where we can see their whole families.
