general media The problem with sport these days

OK, so here's one thing I think about sport, it is declining. Look at this. The most popular Olympic video on youtube only has 10 million views

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2O7K-8G2nwU.

And it's evidence that no one cares about sport anymore. Nelson Mandela said that ''Sport had the power to change the world'', after the events of last week, I think that possibility just vanished. F1 has Bernie Ecclestone, who just makes the sport worse, WRC is getting boring, and I don't know what the 2017 regulations will do, hopefully put it back on track. And NFL had a deflategate scandal. The thing is, people are more interested in ''Gangnam Style'' than sport, despite Psy doing the opening ceremony of the Asian games

this is the most viewed video on youtube with 2 Billion views.  I mean really, 2 Billion people watch the opening ceremony of the olympics and yet don't care about it on youtube. Really? I also think that the UCI is corrupt. Because they forget to not allow people with drugs into the tour de france. I Wish people cared about sport more. You may agree or disagree with me. I love sport, but people really are finding it hard to care about it. At least people still care about music and culture.

People generally watch sports on TV, not on YouTube (unlike music).

Don't worry, people still care about sports. ;p

Yes, but don't people want to watch it over again?

Mmh, I don't think many of them do.

Also there are replays on TV, or they can record them...

But it's better to watch it live on TV, than on computer.

Yes, but what about the corruption of FIFA? Bernie Ecclestone F1? UCI forgetting to prevent Drug users from cycling? And the boredom of F1 and WRC?

You can't really judge this based on youtube views, especially since a lot of sports organizations don't allow footage to be uploaded. The salaries of professional athletes should be enough to prove that sports are still plenty popular :)

When it comes to sport, my mind starts SCREAMING "FIFAAAAAAAAAAAA". Don't know why I said that, but the recent scandal about FIFA, has many wondering about other sporting associations, whether they are trustworthy or not.

These don't really show sport dying... they're just controversial events involving sport. Sport will continue as it is.

Sport is too integrated to go anywhere, anytime soon. Besides, a few bogus events isn't really gonna change much.

After last week's events, I believe Nelson Mandela's opportunity is vanishing, he's already dead, and his quote is dying.

Who the hell watches sport on youtube?

Anyway sport isn't dying simply because it doesn't have that many views on youtube. That only shows that people don't use youtube to watch sport.

Do you know the audiences Football (Soccer) get's around the world? There's reports that the Women's World Cup could reach 1 Billion people, which is incredible! I honestly don't get why you're comparing YouTube videos.

The main reason Sports videos don't have as many views is because a lot of people will watch the sport live, not on YouTube, whereas a video like Gangnam Style is primarily only available on YouTube, attracting more views.

I still think the number of controversial events, plus the decrase of youth sport participation is a factor.
