Would it be a good idea for the show to have more dramatic episodes?

While much of the show has mostly been caked in humor, I think it would create a better balance if there would be a few episodes that'd have more drama than others, like the emotional kind or whatever. Think that would be a good idea for the show?

I remember when I watched flight to the finish for the first time, and the when Rainbow dash told Scootaloo she might not fly, and the scene right after that when they slam the door open and start heading to perform the routine, being so determined to get the. The episode as a whole was really good, but those two parts gave me goosebumps, I'd be all for more dramatic episodes and moments in the show

I like lighthearted happy episodes, strong emotion is something i react on and it really affects my mood, MLP has been happy show for me and it helps me be more happy and postive, keeping that in mind I don't think too much drama is good for my experience with this show

Considering that some episodes have already done some drama pretty well, I'd love to see more of it in the show.

I am always for a bit of drama, but i don't want episodes to be depressing for 22 minutes.

Alot of people complained about castle sweet castle not being emotional enough, while i said that the one grieving scene was enough, because it would just leave a bad taste in my mouth. Watching Twilight bawling her eyes out for 22 minutes, is the equivalant of an episode that just shows a glass of mayonaise for 22 minutes.

The balance is good as it is.

No.

That's not because I don't like drama though. I love drama, and I enjoy shows that have an equal balance (rather than veering towards humor) of drama and comedy moreso. But that is something that is very difficult to write properly. You need a lot of skill. And whilst I think that MLP has loads of unused potential within its world, characters, etc, the fact remains that it is a children's show. And it is bound by very strict limitations. It is true that I've enjoyed the few emotional scenes and have been affected by them (the one in Castle Sweet Castle  was excellent and well-done), this show could never go any deeper than those. At most, it can only touch upon drama on a very surface level.

That's sad to me, because there's so much depth to emotion and drama that can be explored. But I understand that this isn't the show to do that. If they kept exploring drama in the more shallow ways that they can, then the few scenes they do have would lose impact, and it would become oversaturated and not to mention frustrating to continuously be bombarded by this unsatiating shallow drama that can't go any deeper.

So I'd rather the show do what it is meant to do - be a nice fluffy children's show that exists to stimulate the brains of the young and entertain the old.

I don't think we need more 'drama' per se, but more episodes like Tanks for the Memories could be a good balance. That episode had many funny moments, but it's overall tone was quite...serious and actually very sad to me. I would not like to see that all the time but seeing that episode made me feel emotions that this show usually does not make me feel, genuine sadness, but sometimes you have to feel sadness to truly appreciate happiness. So the occasional sadish episode like that would be pretty interesting.

I wouldn't mind myself if there were some more serious/dramatic episodes. An episode arc of somebody cheering up someone really genuinely depressed would be appropriate.

I'm not a medical expert, psychologist, psychiatrist, teacher or love doctor. Take my words with a pinch of salt, yeah?

I am an experienced cook, musician and care worker though, so that's something.

Amending Fences was Twilight Sparkle being dramatic about being terrible to her old friends and Moondancer being dramatic about Twilight Sparkle was terrible to her. Everyone else...seemed fine.

Having more drama episodes would be acceptable provided they keep it within reason as it is easy to go overboard in that direction. I say keep with a mixture of seriousness and comedy as that can churn out meaningful episodes that can make one still laugh as well. That's a true sign of great writing if one is able to do that.

Im a sucker for drama. So mabye im biased, but if anything can make me shed a tear (or an ocean) than i love it.

My favorite dramatic moments were:

A Canterlot Wedding, especially the parts where Twilight was singing about her brother and started crying, the reprise did make my eyes water or something.

Princess Twilight Sparkle, when her friends told her she should leave, and it really hit me when she said "and you all... Feel this way?"

Twilights Kingdom: When Everything seemed lost and twilight said, "I have the most powerful magic", and the magic rainbow happened. It was a more happy moment of drama.

Castle Sweet Castle: When twilight saw that chandelier and said "This is the best gift anyone could give me", and hugged all her friends. Because they had found a way to gift memories, the only true thing Twilight wanted.

My personal favorite in For whom the Sweetie Bell Tolls: The very ending scene when Sweetie Bell and Rarity are making up. After Rarity offers to come watch her play, and Sweetie Bell says, " The costumes were the best part." I dont know if it was just me, but i shed some liquid pride there, it was just so sweet.

So anyway, whether that was necessary or not. I believe the show could be a lot better and have more menorable episodes if it had more Drama. But this does need to be balanced out by some humor, less it becomes just a sad fest, and gets boring.

But too much humor is the same thing. A balance is needed, and i believe more weights need to be added to the dramatic side of the scale.
