Is there anything you want to say but don't because it ticks off the fandom?

I got nothing... I like to do whatever fun and crazy thing that the fandom is doing, as I love to be reminded that I'm not alone with my love for MLP:FiM. It's just fun making fan art and contributing to such a lively community.

Where do people get the idea that the fandom is so sensitive, anyway? Whenever I state an unpopular opinion, I get no angry replies. Just because your experiences in the fandom were bad doesn't mean it'll be the same as anyone else's. :/

Princess Luna sucks so much, she's the worst character on the show, she isn't cute or interesting, she's boring as hell and doesn't even deserve to be on screen for more than 2 seconds.

Also season 5 sucks so far and is easily the worst season so far.

Oh and Equestria Girls is more fun than My Little Pony.

*sighs* equestria girls annoys me. It seems like nothing but an excuse to sell dolls, and even for being an excuse, it's not so well done. A high school is the most predictable, overdone setting imaginable, and flash sentry is spectacularly bland as a character. He seems like he was just added as a love interest without any real contribution otherwise.

:umad: (let the controversies fly! hehe)

Well. I feel a little betrayed by the brony fandom, to be honest. It's not what I expected. Out on the internet, they always imply that pony sexualization isn't the mainstream - They say how every fandom has people like that, they make it seem like these guys are just a shunned fringe minority.

And I bought it hook, line and sinker. I thought the critics of the fandom were just blowing a lot of hot air - and I defended the bronies. Maybe not as much as I'd have liked, but I still defended them. I had a real conviction that folks were wrong about them. And then I came and joined them...

And it was all true. All the things I'd been denying, that I was sure were wrong, it was true. They made a liar out of me, they made me sacrifice my reputation for nothing. Pony sexualization is both rampant and accepted. If you dissent even politely, they jump down your throat and act like it equates to homophobia.

And not just that. I've seen people criticizing someone for being into CMC fetish porn (and allegedly actually dating an underage girl in real life) getting the whole "shame on you for judging him" treatment. I've seen impassioned defenses of *incest* - honest to goodness real life *incest* - in this community.

Oh, boy. I'm not going to be making any friends with this one...

<opinions>

  1. I don't like Mane 6 shipping (Rainbow Dash may be Tomboyish, but she's not lesbian.)
  2. I think that Celestia deserves more attention than Luna. I also think that Celestia is a better princess.
  3. To quote a stamp from DeviantArt "I'm in love with an Equestria Girl."
  4. I think the fandom overreacted during the whole Derpy incident. She talked, get over it.
  5. People clop, get over it and stop making a bloody scene about it.
  6. If I had a choice between Friendship is Magic and Equestria Girls, I'd go with Equestria Girls.
  7. The whole concept of the Solar Empire versus the New Lunar Republic is stupid. What about all Bronies being united under one banner? Like, a Brony Republic.
  8. I think the fandom is somewhat hypocritical in its teachings. We preach that we're open-minded and accepting of all but yet we talk down to cloppers and bronies who are critical of the show (Even the best shows need constructive criticism).

Man, that felt good. :)

Eh, not really. Live and let live I say. There are some things that annoy me, but nothing really big.

@@Daring_Do,I have to retort a couple things,

One, It isn't the mainstream.

And two, I agree that people shouldn't jump down other's throats for criticizing others, but there really isn't anything wrong with sexualization. And you're right, every fandom has that, and there's nothing wrong with it. Some of the art is inappropriate, but I do think it's a bit silly to say someone isn't allowed to feel a certain way about a character.

I shamelessly said it before and I'll still say it here.

Season 1, while entertaining, is the show's worst season

Meghan McCarthy's run on FiM is better than Lauren Faust's

Equestria Girls retains the charm of Friendship is Magic

The show isn't fantastic. It's average. The storytelling is always a hit and miss and the animation is pretty basic. (Granted there are a few points where the animation is impressive). And the voice acting can be pretty bland at times.

The fandom does take the show way too seriously at times and complain so much about every little thing towards the creators. There are a lot of things within' the fandom that I've never agreed with since I started liking the show.

At the end of the day it's a cartoon show and should be taken light-heartedly. Not everyone is going to like this show and that's cool.

Well, I'll grant it's not really the majority, but it's a lot more prevalent than I thought. I've been part of the Harry Potter fandom online, and it wasn't out in the open and accepted like this.

To be fair I think I might feel worse about it due to a bad experience of mine over on EQD - After championing the fandom so long, I made an inoffensive little comment about an R34 fansite and an anon accused me of being a "fucking white knight who can't stand the thought of anyone enjoying the show differently than you". The F-bomb. Don't usually see them use it, to be fair, but the experience stuck in my mind.

I'd disagree with you about it not being wrong, though - and it's mainly the inappropriate stuff I'm talking about, anyhow.

too many of you are mary-sues...

I mean... If you make a character that's a snowflake, we all know the stuff you make up for your OC is to make them more special than anybody else, which only makes you look even more desperate and insecure... Yet why does every pony tolerate this in their own stories? You could easily increase your narrative worth several fold by removing alicorns, mary sues, bat ponies, "Ow the edge, I'm evil for the sake of being evil" characters, magical earth ponies/pegasi, etc! It's one of the easiest fixes, yet I see so many people falling for such a simple mistake!

What, the underage stuff? Like CMC? Because I can understand that, but I dunno, I don't see anything wrong with sexualizing say, Rarity or Celestia. They're basically adults. I could also understand you not liking it due to the nature of the show, though.

Daring Do, I totally feel what you wrote here. I was gonna leave it as a brohoof, but I just wanted to tell you this as a post. While I personally don't feel betrayed, I am disappointed by some of the things I see -- and the pervasiveness of it -- in this fandom too. You're not alone.

-I really don't care for the background ponies. They're mostly just recolors of other characters. It just seems lazy and unnecessary to me. I like some of them, but most are unneeded.

Okay, now I'm really gonna get crucified for this!

I am looking forward to Generation 5!

Don't get me wrong, when FiM ends (which hopefully won't be for a few more seasons), I'll be sad to see it go, yes but after it does I will welcome Generation 5 with open arms and I hope that it's just as good if not, better than FiM!

I am open to the idea that the next gen will be better!

I don't care if the next gen is CGI-Animated as long as the story/stories are good!

While I'd welcome a sequel series to FiM (like Transformers RiD is to Prime), when Generation 5 comes along, I DON'T want it to be related to FiM at all! Not set in another town, not set in the far past, not focused on Celestia and Luna, not focused on any characters that the Mane 6 doesn't know, I don't want it to be set in the same world period! I want it to be its own thing. New world, new towns, new characters, new history, different settings, different ideas, different tech levels, brand new everything. (Though I won't mind if it re-uses characters from past gens. Pretty much like what Transformers does with every reboot. New Optimus Prime, New Megatron, New Bumblebee, New Starscream, New Grimlock. So yeah, New Twilight Sparkle, New Fluttershy, New Rarity, New Firefly, New Surprise).

I won't mind if the next Gen is an action-based show.

And finally, I hope that My Little Pony evolves the Brony fandom into a franchise fandom! A single fandom that will be inclusive of Gen 1, Friendship is Magic, Gen 5...and even Gen 3!

So, how deep in the ground am I?

shut the buck up m8 ur about to be bang out of order m8 if ya dont shut ya yapper innit

ill do it m8 I swear on me mum

Now for the serious part.

Most fananimations suck. From Sonic Rainboom, to snowdrop, to fall of the crystal empire. The only reason we put them on a pedestal, is because we always praise the animation, which we shouldn't. We already know that the fandom has good animators.

Fans take shipping too seriously and i especially dislike the Sparity shippers that threw a tantrum, just because Rarity and Spike won't fall in love in the show.

Calling Twilight Sparkle Twilicorn, is the biggest insult to her character, because it makes her sound like she is someone different. She is still Twilight Sparkle, even if some fans like to believe that the "real" Twilight Sparkle died. Nice fanon you have there m8.

EDIT: Oh and the show needs Lamiaponies. :P

I don't really have any gripes with the fandom, I only really started interacting with it as of a few months ago, but if I am to name a few things...

- The divisiveness here and there, like the "clopper vs non-clopper" previously mentioned, for a fandom about friendship, union and tolerance, there can be quite some divisions...not counting things like "luna vs celestia" though, that'd be something like "team jacob vs team edward" or "red vs blue".

- The extremist/tendencies to overreact, like the Derpy censoring thing. I was disappointed to see that happened, and get why people would be vocal about it, but there's no need to crucify anyone over it. Things like "if this changes I'm out" or "you don't agree with the majority's opinion? prepare to get bashed" too, though these aren't inherent to just the Brony fandom.

- The zealousness over some things, like bashing someone for being critical of an episode you liked, praising an episode you disliked, disagreeing with a ship, and so on. Constructive criticism is needed for progress, after all. Combined with the extremist, things can get out of hand quickly sometimes...

And to say something more confession-like...Season 1 is my least favorite season. I don't hate it, just like it the least of all so far. :P

RARITY IS NOT A PEDOPHILE!!!

Now, your first response would be to agree.

But do you know how many people want Rarity to date Spike? Regardless of what you say, since the show is only two years old in Equestrian time, Spike is still either a baby or a little child, both too young for Rarity. It has nothing to do with him being a dragon. Sparity shippers (on the romance part) make me sick!

Also, for the love of Celestia, learn about color theory and form before making OCs!

Why hold back in the first place? It's pretty funny to see people get all worked up over a cartoon.  Besides, most bronies are teenage guys, around the age where you're just an angry sack of hormones (and, yes, I was one too), so anything you say can set them off.

Anyway, I kind of miss the days before analyzing MLP became a thing. It gets old watching people complain about every single thing even in an episode they like. They seem like the sort of people who would spend lots of time arguing online about Star Trek, and I wish they'd go back to that.

Agreed. I'm sick of seeing disgusting OCs using colours like red and lime green. Or purple and green.
