I tilted my hat as she I left her to investigate. Goggles, pretty interesting attire for an investigator. Well I shouldn't be saying anything, with my mask who am I to judge? I began to question what few ponies that were curious enough to look. Most of them were nearby pedestrians or his teammates that found the body after it was too late. They didn't know anything we didn't already figured out. I shook my head and gave a few sorry promises before walking back over to my partner. "Find anything? the ponies here didn't know anything we haven't already got."

Scare watched as the pony she bumped into ran into a crowd and seemingly disappear then she heard her partner ask her what she found she turned and walked over to him removing her goggles, "okay from the evidence i gathered i believe two ponies were responsible for the murder one being a pink pegasus, most likely mare, and a heavy earth pony or a really big unicorn. meaning these are two completely different murders than the previous one."Scare says then pulls out the letter," and a mysterious letter addressed to me that say i am in danger." she hands the note to Scrambled.

Chaotic flew through the night and spotted a friend sitting on the side of the road looking kinda tipsy, landing beside him, "hey Dax nice to see you again, have you been staying out of trouble."Chaotic asked with a wide smile.

Rave had arrived home and had a big headache. He had one voice in his head, but he was now being assaulted by multiple. They were all talking at the same time. They were created by his other self, however, he did not know that. "SHUT UP. LEAVE ME ALONE" he screamed. He lied down in his bed, clutching his head. "He really wanted to kill all those who had hurt him. Wanted them all to suffer. 

 

A shadow seemed to be watching him. It smiled and then got closer to him and then seemed to enter his body.

"YOU."  Dax took one look at Chaotic and his features settled into a harsh frown.  

 

"Of course it'd be you... what else would make all this misery complete?"  He let out a ragged, almost sobbing bark of a laugh.  "Have I been staying out of-... you wanna know?  Do ya REEEEEEEEALLY wanna know!?"  Dax lurched to his hooves, drunken anger in his words and tears in his eyes.

 

"I trotted for MONTHS, trying to find Rave after he sailed off into the sunset, then when I found him, he was in training at some... complex or base or some manure like that.  After I got here, I did the best I could, keeping an eye on Rave and trying to see if he were slipping off the deep end... I've followed him while he worked!  I followed him to his home!  I'd have followed him into that base-type-thingy, but I'm not THAT stupid!  I've been keeping notes, watching expressions and generally doing all the things a snoop does!  Heck, I've been staying at the frickin' HOMELESS STABLE because I've done NOTHING ELSE BUT WATCH RAVE!  And do you wanna know why?  DO YA REALLY WANNA KNOW WHY?"

 

Tears began pouring from Dax's emerald eyes, and his voice began cracking and shuddering with barely repressed sobs.

 

"Because one year ago, you TOLD me that if I followed your lead, I'd get the ONE THING I'd wanted - A REAL FRIEND!  A REAL, HONEST TO GOODNESS FRIEND!  Your directions led me to Rave, and I did whatever I could to help him out, and I tried to BE a friend - *sniffle* - and what did I get for all that trouble and all my trouble since then?  *sniffle*"

 

Dax's voice became small, tight & scathing, and he spoke into Chaotic's face.

 

"I GOT NOTHING... absolutely NOTHING for all I've done.  I haven't seen my family for over a year.  I haven't slept in a decent bed in over a year.  And I DAMN SURE don't see how in the world I can EVER make a friend out of somepony who plans to lose themselves to DARKNESS.  Your dream was a big, fat LIE, Chaotic... and... and..."

 

Dax broke off his words, thumped down onto the dirty curb, and began to cry.  He wailed like a baby, burying his face in his hooves as he poured his heart out of his eyes.

 

"*sob*... all I wanted... *sniffle*... was a friend... *choke* *sob*"

 

Dax glanced over at Chaotic, and his face fell even more.

 

"Aw crap... *sob* I'm... I'm sorry... s-s-sorry I yelled at you... *sniffle*... I'm j-j-just... I'm a ME-HE-HE-HEEEEEESS... *sob*"

 

Dax turned.  The look on his tear-streaked face said that all was forgiven, and he gave Chaotic a clumsy hug, then he suddenly froze.

 

"... oh Celestia..."

 

Dax, without warning, suddenly threw up on them both.  Noisily.  Three mugs worth of used green apple cider splashed onto them both.

 

Dax gave a tiny burp, then passed out into his own sick, asleep on the curb.

Chaotic looked at Dax who passed out after throwing up on her disgusted by the disgusting liquid and used her magic to remove all the throw up from Dax and herself. Now smiling at him,"well you did get one friend but you followed a pony who didn't want to be your friend. now here you are drunk and passed out, now i have to take you home what friend would i be if i leave you out here." Chaotic said to Dax's unconscious, Her necklace starts to glow as she teleports Dax and herself to an apartment building, "sorry but i don't know where you live so i guess you will be sleeping over." She said while lifting him up and setting him on her bed.

so its multiple ponies eh? she thought wait did Scare say she was in danger? she will NEVER get hurt on my watch, wait these ponies that were killed were high profile...I hope Chain is not in danger. she saw a cop walking to her time to make my escape she thought as she vanished into the darkness of the city

Danger, my companion has something to do with the murderers? Her friends at the bar mentioned stuff she hadn't remembered. I don't know exactly what's going on but if her missing memories risk her life I need to look into it. "If your life is in danger we need to be cautious. Arm yourself and find someplace safe while we look into this." I levitated my apartment keys from my coat and hoofed it to Scare. "You can stay at my apartment if the situation calls for it."

"thanks Scrambled that's nice but i will be just fine in my home okay. any way first things first, i must go home and sleep then after that talk to Banner to clear up my memories." Scare said with a smile, "anyway good night and see you tomorrow Scrambled." Scare left the crime scene and headed home. once home she saw her door was wide open. cautiously approaching the door inside she saw a pony she never saw before but yet familiar the pony was grey with snow white hair waiting in her living room. as she approached the pony they seemed to fade out of existence, stopping she realized she was hallucinating and closed her door then walked into her room to find another note this one only having numbers. putting it down she jumped on her bed and went to sleep.

Chain wakes up to a door opening, the front door "how's there?" he said in a groggy voice that no pony could actually hear and looked at his dresser alarm clock and saw it was 5:23 am. Banner entered the apartment trying to get to the coach where she had a compartment in the back of it when she heard hoofsteps from Chains room. (which was also banners room but on the other side) she went as quick as can be without making to much noise, got to the compartment and put her stuff in it when Chain entered the living/dinning/kitchen. "what are you doing up?" Chain asked "I was getting very early breakfast" "you went out side to do that?" "yeah, but hey you have a meeting so get to sleep, I can do the chores" "first time I heard you say that but your right, if I don't wake up at 8:00 you can push me off the bed" he said walking back to the room. that was a close one Banner thought

Rave woke up, having passed out. His room was a mess. He did not remember breaking some of his things. His hooves were all scratched and bloody. Some glass was stuck in one of the hooves, which he pulled out. "I am finally losing it.... NO, NOT NOW, NOT WHEN I AM SO CLOSE. I can not let the dark forces break me now. I have to be stronger than them, I need to push on".

Buzz was lying in his bed, trying to stay asleep. That was till he noticed movement at the end of his bed. He opened his eyes to see Hits putting her bow on in the mirror on the back of the door. "Oh, so your awake now" she said with a cheerful tone as she slipped her sweat bands on her front legs. She had seen Buzz open his eyes in the mirror. "I guess i am." "Good, cause your taking me for breakfast." "Excuse me, what" "You heard me, get up and grab your wallet." "And why would I do that?" "Well, it can be the start to your apology for not telling me you were coming back. and..." Hits now walked over to the set of draws in the far corner of the room. She opened the top draw, and pulled out a plastic wrapping. Inside the wrapping was a comic. "Hits, what are you doing?" Hits held the cover in her mouth and started to slowly move her teeth closer to the tape that was keeping it sealed. "Hits stop." Hits moved her teeth again. "Hits, this isn't funny any more. Put it down!" Buzz was now sat up on his bed, his eyes fixated on the comic. Hits moved her teeth again, one more time and she would be at the tape. "Hits, you saw how much i paid for that first hoof. the value of that has at least tripped since then." Hits just stared at Buzz, giving an expression that said 'not my problem.'  Hits repositioned her jaw, about to move it again. "FINE, fine, ok. You win!" Hits threw the comic at the bed, Buzz jumped to catch it and fell off the bed doing so. "Come on then, we want to beat the morning rush, Mr secret cop" said Hits as she left the room. Buzz's eyes shot open. "How did y..." "Your mum told me, now hurry up slow poke. Im hungry" Hits shouted back down the corridor. Buzz got up and went to his bedside table where his bag was. He got out some money and looked at the clock on the table. 7:15 a.m. "This is going to be a long day" Buzz thought to himself. He then left his room an saw Jits wating by the front door, smiling. Buzz couldn't help but smile back, his cheeks blushing a bit as he did so. The two then left the apartment.

ok I did the dishes, cleaned the tiles in the kitchen, put Chain's business clothes in the dryer and Its only 7:15 she thought. Banner yawned, I need some coffee the good kind the café down the street serves, I mean I did say I got breakfast so might as well make it true. she headed to the café

Scare had the same dream as the night before, the boom in her dream woke her up again so she got out of bed and opened her fridge to find it was missing food so she grabbed an apple on the counter and decided to take a walk. as she was walking she saw Banner enter a cafe, maybe its a good time to get some answers Scare thought as she entered the cafe, and saw Banner ordering some coffee. so she sat at a table and waited for Banner to get her coffee.

"the medium cup of fresh coffee and add a little honey to it with some sweetener, can I get a blueberry muffin as well" Banner said to the pony at the counter then looked around the place seeing the fancy prance décor like paintings and the nicely decorated tables but as she looked around she saw scare. another coincidence or did she follow me? because she's just sitting at a table and I heard that bell rang again almost right after I opened the door "here's your coffee" "thanks here's the bits" she gave the pony bits, took the coffee and muffin and started to walk over to Scare then sat down at the table. "what are you doing here? you don't seem to have anything from the café"

"I saw you and decided now would be a good time to talk about what happened a year ago in the desert, but if this is a bad time i could just leave." Scare said standing up and started turning to leave.this was a stupid idea she possibly doesn't want to talk about it now, Scare thought.

"I'm a little drowse but I can still tell you, you don't have to leave, I don't really have anything to do besides walk home with Chain when he is done with his work" I don't normally do that but I don't want him to get hurt she thought "sit down and I can tell you about, well you"

"thank you Banner,"Scare said as she sat back down."so what was the old me like? I have been wondering since we talked last night." Scare then reached into one of her coat pockets and pulls out the note from last night and sets it down in front of her, I will ask her if she knows anything about the pony named F after she tells me somethings about my past. Scare thought.

"well you and your two little sisters were from another dimension where a pony destroyed everything trying to get power" she sighed "it was the same thing she was trying to do here also I don't know how or why but you have magical powers very powerful ones, that's the whole reason that you survived the device's explosion seeing as your still here" she said to Scare

"Wait are you saying i am not even from here and have sisters, and i survived an explosion because i have magic powers."Scare said shocked, then quickly regained her composure. "okay last night you said something about confessing to me and i was wondering what did you mean by that?"

Banner blushed a little "well I liked you and I wanted to be with you, so I confessed my feeling to you and amazingly you accepted, it was one of the happiest moments of my life" she paused for a second "also I'm sorry I kind of dropped everything on you at once"

Scare bushed at that answer, "It's okay i kinda asked for it. also what you said kinda explains why i am so comfortable around you, also why i kept seeing you in my dreams. in my dream me and you were talking then suddenly a loud explosion wakes me up, which i think is the last thing i heard before losing my memories. now here is my last question about my past did i know somepony whose name started with the letter F that wasn't Fracture?"

"your sisters names are Broken heart and Dramatic, that yellow mare was Chaotic, that leaves... h dear celestia I think its Fear that pony that I told was trying to destroy the world...but it may not be, I don't know everything about you" she said thinking a bit about why see asked the question. could that be how made the letter last night? she thought to herself

The alarm clock rings at 5:40, and Sinusoid immediately magically dirupts the sound to avoid waking Fracture while he telekinetically halts it; the two of them share a bed, both being fine with an above-normal level of closeness which has led to both of them being happier. He had forgotten to turn the clock off so that they could reset their sleep schedules, and, unable to get back to sleep, Sinusoid contemplates the situations of Scare and Rave. He realizes that she would probably talk to some pony about the events of a year ago, then find that there is some unfinished work related to them, judging from Fracture's recollections, so she would somehow bring together the group again. He whispers shallowly, "This must be different... If the recent events have any signifigance, then she, the murders, and the pony talking to Rave should be related. With the weird things that have happened lately, it's actually likely; I otherwise would have never thought of it as possible."

Several hours after Sinusoid had woken, Fracture wakes to find him sleeping upside-down on the floor. He thinks, "For such an intelligent pony, he's adorably stupid." Fracture puts on his hoof, greatly improved from the model of a year ago, having a more versatile claw and being plated with a stainless copper alloy.

Hearing the distinctive metallic sound, Sinusoid wakes again, and quickly addresses by Fracture's nickname, "Kshu, all of these events that are related to Scare, along with the murders and coincidences, probably have something to do with each other; I need to talk to you about what you know, and we should consult Scare. Such coincidinces as these must be coordinated by magic."

"Oh, all right..." Fracture replies, considering the statement and seeing its logic; "I can talk to you while we... search for her, I guess."

With that, Sinusoid puts his vest on and Fracture begins to explain as they leave.

"okay so If is this Fear your talking about then why would she warn me unless she changed." Scare said out loud. the door dinged and in walks a yellow earth pony mare with short pink hair and walked up to Scare and Banner.

"Are you Scare Effect?" the yellow mare asked Scare.

"yes"Scare answered.

"excellent" the mare said blowing some kind of powder in Scare's face making Scare pass out. she then turned to Banner and did the same knocking her out too, picking up Scare the yellow earth pony ran out the door and vanished.

*beep beep, beep beep* Chain's alarm sounded "better get going" he says getting out of bed then getting ready for work. I wonder where Banner is, she usually is reading the news or a book at this time, wait she ditched me, what if I didn't get up Chain thought I need to talk to her some time. he heads out the hotel and hails a taxi to his work
