...One might think of that as an oxymoron. However, as someone who is educated in such matters, I can confirm that ninjas and samurai are not always enemies. Sometimes they are allies, depending on who is employing the ninjas. And yes, ninjas can secretly rise in the ranks and become legit samurai as well. On the flip side, it is more than possible for samurai to learn ninja skills, as part of their employment means being as skilled as they can be. So it is possible to be both at the same time.
