Use your handwriting as a font!

Have you ever wanted to make a font using your own handwriting?  It's a pretty neat idea, isn't it?  

 

I found this font creator and it's so rad you should definitely try it out: http://www.myscriptfont.com/

 

So what you do is download the template on the website and either

A.) Open the document in Photoshop (or your software of choice) and use your pen tablet to write letters

B.) Print the document out and draw them on paper, then scan it with your scanner to your computer

 

I think it's really cool and worth sharing.

I am a font designer, and I the idea of having hand written fonts have crossed my mind. But it is not going to work, ever, as a commercial product.

I know a few places have offered this as-a-service before; the extreme form would be the autopen, such as used in the whitehouse....

Handwritten text is harder to read (but easier to write), why would someone use that as a font?
