The lights flickered as eight ponies sat upon modest sofas. Stroking the edges of the room, the lights shined dimly, casting a dull yellow glow. It was a tense situation, due to both the current situation and of their future mission. A single hour had passed since the eight chosen ponies were ushered in. A vow of silence each of them promised as they entered, each were flanked by a guard.

There are two doors in the room, the one behind the ponies, where they came from, and the double doors in front of them. The purpose of the double door in front remains unknown to all except for the silent guards. Periodically, two servants will come in to deposit decently sized gray bags at the right wall, the purpose unknown too.

Any equipment brought by the eight were placed to their left, each told to not open theirs. Any violation of the rule would been seen as an attempt of treason.

The seconds ticked before an armored soldier walked through what were unopened doors. Each step he took were of weariness enforced with discipline. His face hidden by the helmet he wore, his narrow digital eyes scanned each of the eight. Speaking no words, he nodded towards the two guards posted at the doors to retrieve someone on the other side.

“Greetings,” the soldier began as his attention returned to the small audience, “Princess Reverie will be here momentarily to speak to you eight of your important mission. Do not make any large movements, use any magic, nothing at all. Do not speak either,” pausing for a mere second, he continued, “you are only allowed to speak when Princess Reverie allows it.”

"My little ponies," an unicorn of a large stature entered the room at that moment. Smiling warmly, she sat on a comfortable sofa positioned in front of the chosen eight. "I am delighted that all eight of you had accepted the invitation in partaking in this commission, yet it saddens me to request such a heavy burden upon you all. It is a difficult thing for a princess to request her subjects to complete a task for her."

A servant, without any command present, entered the room and placed down an easel with a map of Mareington present.

"You eight are to retrieve three important items from Mareington," Princess Reverie levitated a marker, "from what our courageous scouts can gather, the three items are located at Prima, Marehattan, and Stallien Island. The exact locations are unknown for each one due to presence of creatures limiting our scouts' ranges. Adding onto the primary mission goal, there had also been reports of an unique creature being spotted in Mareington. It saddens me to say that we are unable to identify what this creature is exactly, but it should be in your best interests to keep an eye around yourselves when you all depart."

With that, Princess Reverie capped the marker and placed it done, "Now, we have allocated items for you all to use. Using what knowledge is left of enchantment, we had managed to decrease the weight of the basic survival kit normally given to scouts. They are the gray bags you see to the right of you, they contain what you need to survive. My little ponies, you all have the right to refuse, but I advise such."

"Any questions my brave eight? I will answer them all," Princess Reverie asked, her voice filled with all the attributes similar to a mother's. "Any question, even of the days long gone."

Draco looked at the princess slightly as he sighed to himself. "Let me ask you this then is this a suicide mission?" Draco asked slightly as he looked at the mare on he throne. His armor was one he scavenged off of a pony. It was a good one provided excellent protection against fire arms and bullets. But he learned through his travels to Jury rig afew things. It had to be in the heavy medium or small armor classes though. That was his thought in it.

Spikus sat in silence listening to the words being exchanged thinking to himself about the current situation. {Bravery has got nothing to do with it} he thought to himself. Eventually he asked "So what should we expect to encounter out there? Seeing as some scouts never returned."

End Game nods, "I do have two questions, once we get these items is there any way for us to get back? It would be a shame to lose what we're seeking after we find it. Also, what exactly are we looking for? I don't know about everypony else, but I tend to find it much more simple to find things when I know what to look for. "

Hazmat watches the princess speak and act like the average royal pony. Speaking as if she cares. He doesn't truley think that she cares about the eight. But more for what they were wanting. Hazmat didn't think that if they died, it would've mattered. The seven po ies and him were expendable. But no pony dared tried to go out there and look for these... "items".

He stayed silent and allowed the others to speak. His gasmask hiding his facial features. With a hoodie to cover up his torso with his wings out of by holes on the side. Her never cared for armor. His weapons were his defence and offence.

"It is a mission of great difficulty, not a suicide mission," Princess Reverie replied comfortingly, "I will not abandon you all to your deaths, it'll be unbecoming of ponykind. When you all have achieved your goal of retrieving the three chips, you may rendezvous with one of the small outposts we keep around Mareington. At that point, you all will be retrieved by a small force and taken back to this bunker."

The presentation easel's subject changed into a drawing of the three chips. Each one was moderately sized with unit measurements being shown. 60mm in width, height/length of 130mm, and 4mm in depth. Each had its own unique markings, the left a city, the middle what appears to be an alicorn, and the right a book. Below each drawing were the acronyms, MDS, AI, and ATS going from left to right.

"You are to find these three chips that carry sensitive information," Princess Reverie answered End Game's question, "any information pertaining to these three items that we've know of had is stored in your individual datapads that we've allocated and placed in each of the gray bags."

At last, her attention focused on the question of exactly what is up there. Smiling sadly, Princess Reverie replied, "there are many sorts of monsters up there. Many are capable of tearing apart a pony without much thought and some are even capable of deteriorating a pony's mental health just by being near them. If I were to reveal what is up there, we may be here for an entire month, but know this: any creature you see, kill it immediately. There are no good produced by Disharmony and any creation it created should be treated with great hostility."

Silver Shine looks up at the Princess, listening to her answer the other pony's questions before opening her mouth to speak. "So, this mission, if successful, will bring back peace and harmony to Equestria, right?" She shifts in her chair, slightly uncomfortable as she looks the Princess in the eye, waiting for the answer.

@@Birdy the Phoenix,

"It will with it being the first great step ponykind will take on this road to Equestria that we all yearn for," Princess Reverie nodded her head, "please be at ease little one. If you eight are to retrieve the three chips, we can improve our situation many times over. Our dwindling supply of food could be made up for using information gleamed from the MDS and the ATS chip and the AI chip will give us a better view on our situation. We won't solve this issue similar to the Elements of Harmony with one good 'hurrah' as they say, but we will see a Equestria of the olden times one eventual day."

----

Gentle Secret mused about the information given and the discussion happening between her future teammates and Princess Reverie. Inferring upon the princess's words, it'll be a long fight to free Equestria of Disharmony. Having some scouts as friends, she had managed to question some of them of what sorts of creatures lurks above and many of them makes her shiver. She had even heard rumors of alicorns running amok. Whether there be truth in that or not, it will be one heck of an experience when they depart into Mareington.

@@Demirari,

Sapphire shifted in her seat, having remained quiet until now. "Princess... may I ask, well... what are our chances of coming back? Of... seeing our friends and families again?" Her wings were nervously tucked into her sides, though her expression wasn't purely of nervousness and anxiety. There was a clearly determination and hope mixed in with the more negative feelings, and she actually smiled a little. "Wouldn't it be fantastic if we could save Equestria... and be there to see it?"

"Fret not little one, I have faith in all of you coming back and being able to see the future that is coming to us," Princess Reverie responded confidently, smiling. "As long as you all act wise and have faith in each other, nothing can stand before you eight."

"Princess, the vehicle is ready," the same soldier whispered into her ears before returning back to his post. While Princess Reverie were answering questions, a single armored vehicle was being made ready for the expedition.

Nodding, Princess Reverie got up from the sofa and bowed her heads, "My little ponies, your transport is ready, please gather your items and pick a gray saddlebag. It appears that your time is coming fast to start your mission. Brave yourselves, I will leave you all to your own devices to familiarize yourselves with each other and investigate the items inside the bags given to you. If there is anything you'd like to say to your friends or family, please inform one of the guards. I will be awaiting you."

At that, Princess Reverie and her guards left the room, disappearing into the dark hallway leading to the vehicle.

Sapphire quietly stood from her seat. She glanced to the others, smiling a little to each one of them, then made her way over to her things. Firstly, a slightly worn but still rather pristine doctor's coat, marked with the standard medical cross and slots for her wings to poke through. The coat was a perfect fit on her, and she looked somehow complete while wearing it. The Princess' words had helped, but she didn't really believe the Princess when she said she had faith in all of them coming back. Being a doctor, she often would be needed in the med-bay for when injured scouts were saved from their expeditions. It never really was pretty, though she tried her best to save lives, sometimes with surprisingly successful results. Of course, as the scouts recovered, she would also often keep them company and have conversations. Occasionally, the outside world would come up, and so Sapphire had learned a little about the horrors out there. Plus, the severity of many injuries she saw indicated that those things could really do some serious damage. She would, however, NEVER let any of her new teammates know about these things, for their own sanity. Sapphire let out a small sigh, as she holstered a modified pistol with healing and boosting capabilities. Her medical skills were above-average, though there were definitely several other doctors with better skills than her. She, however, was perhaps the one doctor who agreed to this mission. Sapphire was also fairly new to this, having only a few years of experience. With a lifestyle like this, however, one learns fast, and her few years of experience was equivalent to many more years than a traditional Equestrian doctor before the Disharmony.

As soon as they left Spikus stood and retrieved his gear a 12 gauge shotgun, a flamethrower, and a longsword strapping each to his body. The straps that carried his weapons were thick and studded with rivets as if they were intended to serve as basic light armor. He stood and looked at those around him that were to be his companions on this expedition. Cracking his neck he let out a small nervous chuckle intended to ease the tension of the current situation. "Time to see what were working with shall we?" he said as he headed over to a gray bag and peered inside.

End Game shakes his head and walks over to retrieve his equipment. The rifle was his baby, having put up with years of modification and upgrades in order to become its current form, a scoped battle rifle that made up for its lack of fire rate with range and pure hitting power. It gets slung across his back, while his pistol and knife slide into holsters near his face. He puts on a thin ballistic vest and slides in a few trauma plates on his flanks for additional armoring , then looks at his pack to see its innards.

Draco looked through the items he was handed. His trusty 50 cal AMR( Anti Material Rifle) with a dozen or so .50 mm rounds. He had to be careful though he had a feeling that the rounds were going to be rarer here than his home. He looked at his revolver checking if it's in fine repair. "Well this princess knows how to repair guns or I think she preferred not to get her manicured hooves dirty," Draco stated slightly.

Inside the gray saddlebag were all sorts of items. The most eye-catching as a simple datapad placed carefully on top of the closely packed items. Its dull black color contrasted the more brighter colors of the items that were around it. In the middle of the datapad was a decently sized screen tinted a sky blue. Beyond the datapad were items that one would normally find in survival kits and other designed to help ponies to get out of many situations if used right.

There were vials of chemical ingredients, a few tools designed for many situations, ropes designed for high tension and high weight, parts that can be put together to make traps, and rations. All in all, it seemed like there was something inside the bag fit for a situation, no matter how rare a situation could possibly be. Each item seemed pristine in condition, a rare thing in Disharmonic times. It is safe to say that these bags are worth a fortune.

----

Gentle Secret picked up equipment and made sure they were strapped comfortably tight. Then, she proceeded to open one of the gray bags and peered inside before whistling quietly to herself. Levitating the datapad, she strapped it comfortably around her left forehoof before turning it on. Making sure the datapad was comfortable, she returned to her inspection of the items inside before zipping it and equipping it on herself.

Stretching herself, she was astounded at how light it felt. She was well-versed in magic, more than most unicorns now a days, but it was amazing on what unicorn engineers can do. Smiling, she nodded to herself before she heard a unicorn carrying what seemed to be heavy-duty rifle state something about the princess. Cocking her head, she shrugged.

"I doubt the princess repaired your gun sir," Gentle Secret replied, "I think you'll have to thank the servants under her."

Spikus watched as the blue and white unicorn put on the datapad. "Oh so that's what you're supposed to do with that..." he stated in a tone of realization as he was beginning to put the one that was in his pack on. "Seeing as we're going to be together for the foreseeable future we should probably get acquainted. I am Spikus Fyre," As he was saying this he was putting on the grey saddlebag. "And, as you can probably tell from what I'm carrying, I'm not here because of my cooking." Smirking as he started leaning against the wall waiting for the others to get ready. The smirked faded and he began to look off avoiding eye contact as he wasn't used to being around so many ponies at once. He began thinking about the monsters the princess had mentioned and how she said to kill them on sight. {Are they really that dangerous?} he thought to himself.

Hazmat straps on his saddle of chemicals. Each side bearing the same weight. Soon after he tightened the saddle to his form perfectly, he grabs the grey bag and lets it hang over the yellow striped saddle.

Getting out the datapad, after looking through the contents of what the bag offered, he looks over the pad and places it back in. He'll bring it out later when its actually needed.

End Game places the datapad on his leg and shrugs the survival pack onto his back, then turns to the stallion who had introduced himself, "Nice to meet you Spikus, my name's End Game, gunsmith and keeper of rounds of all kinds. Basically, if it shoots a projectile of any kind I can make ammunition for it. I'm also a pretty good shot with Valerie here." He pats the rifle affectionately, "As for killing on sight, I've only had a few hints of what's out there from various clients, but from what I've been told anything that moves should be shot repeatedly, and anything that isn't moving should be shot once at least to be sure."

"Try double tapping," Draco said with a sigh. "Ran into a mutated alligator," Draco said. "Tough son of a gun," Draco said with a slight chuckle. "That's kinda my rule double tap to make sure their dead," Draco said to the rest of them. His face was hidden by his helmet. "But hey," Draco said with a chuckle. "The skin sold for a pretty penny and I ate like a king for weeks,"

"Hello, I'm Gentle Secret a magic-majoring unicorn," Gentle Secret dipped her head a little as she introduced herself, "I look forward in working with every single one of you." She had seen End Game and Spikus Fyre introduce themselves, more to each other, but that mattered little. She had figured if there were some introductions, she might as well join in to get that part over with.

"You're to not disclose any information of our special force that is currently operating in Mareington to the eight ponies if they ask you any information pertaining to the city or the world in general," an officer of an unknown rank stated calmly at the driver of the transport vehicle. "You're, however, allowed to inform them of our outposts and some of the scouts we have in the city. Is that understood sergeant?"

"Crystal sir, crystal," the sergeant replied saluting, "I'm not telling then nothin' about our forces sir."

The officer seemed pleased at the response before nodding his head, "That is good to hear. If we are to get any reports that goes against this... you'll be the first to be approached." With that, the officer departed, leaving an annoyed sergeant and his assistant alone.

Sapphire too opened her bag and slid the datapad onto her right hoof, smiling a little still. She took the rest of her equipment, a submachine gun and an additional saddlebag of hefty medical supplies. Not just a simple med kit, but the things professionals would use. She then turned to the group, and smiled to all of them.
