Unless I'm at work or they mention new business deals, I usually assume romantic partners. However, in my experience in the past decade, most people that I have ever met that used "partner" are usually people from the LGBT+ community.

Well if they're talking about business I'd assume business partner. Otherwise I'd assume romantic partner. Unless they're playing tennis or something lol. It is confusing.

My sister says partner. I guess it's better than saying boyfriend and girlfriend in your thirties but just barely.
