@@Fhaolan, nice armour! Family heritage or buy from a shop?

 

I really love medieval stuff like weapons and armours. I always want to have an armour set of the warrior of my land, but sadly they didn't wear any armour back then. They only wore ordinary peasant cloth and even the royal guards were topless. Their weapons were just a kind of curved dagger.

 

 

Technically custom made for me. Just not very *well* made. One of these days I'm going to take the whole thing apart myself and reshape the different pieces so it actually fits properly. I can't lift my arms above my head, and the reason I'm not wearing the helm while on Snowdancer is because if I had fallen off with the helm, my teeth would have shattered when I hit the ground, as the chin piece is too tight and forces my jaw closed.

 

That and the metal is just regular cold-rolled steel without any temper, so the whole thing weighs 80lbs, when the historical suit it was modeled off of weighs about 55lbs.

 

Which is why I tend to go Viking or Celt when I'm doing this kind of thing. Oh! Here's another one I had forgotten about.

 

 

This set-up won me an award at Norwescon a couple of years ago. The armor is bronze scale, basically a thousand fishing lures.

Yep, spear & shield is my primary form. Mind you, I do it for performances rather than a martial art now-a-days. I'm old and don't bounce as well as I used to.

 

Snowdancer cost $500 US at auction. We were bidding against a dog food buyer. A year later, and we were offered $10,000 for her. She's retired now, as she's 22 and the arthritis is too bad for her to 'work' anymore.
