Hasbro "Destroys" Fan Letter from 10 Year Old (Supposedly)

This is about as real as dragons. 

The guy now is posting pictures of his daughter's room to prove he has a daughter, but still no proof that this was a legitimate letter or that this was not planned. I mean the fact that he sent this to Hasbro's business office kind of shows he was trying to get a response like this so he could post it on reddit and go "OH WOE IS ME. HASBRO IS BEING MEAN TO MY KID." When I brought up that he has no proof that his kid even sent the letter he provided a picture of the envelope and a picture of his kid's room, then when I said it does not prove they sent the letter or that this wasn't planned out to play out this way suddenly he "doesn't care enough" to provide evidence, despite dishing it out at request moments before.

I doubt Hasbro will care unless enough people get behind this idiot, in which case they will probably just do a press release proving that this person is not telling the whole truth.

I'm glad I found this thread before reading the reddit thread. Otherwise, I probably would've believed this.

After reading both threads, I'm at least 80% sure this is fake.

 

Anyway, I'm not buying it. Especially since it's from an MLP reddit.

Legally speaking, Hasbro has to send these form letters. They are not nice, sure, but they need to make it VERY clear to the senders that they do not accept solicitations or read them. The reasoning is because if ANYTHING in the show resembles a letter sent in that pony could turn around and sue them.

 

 

This is kind of like how we ended up with Tom Paris instead of Nick Locarno in Star Trek Voyager. In that case, if they had used the Character of Nick Locarno, they would have had to pay royalties to the author of that Next Gen episode everytime Tom "Nick" Paris showed up on screen.

 

Also, I feel that the quoted reason above is probably the single biggest reason why they destroy-without-reading any such material (yes the legal department reads it to see what it is, but I am sure they are barred from telling anyone outside of the legal staff for liability reasons).

Lots of companies don't accept unsolicited mail, especially ones that deal in publishing. You have to make sure it gets sent to the right department, usually a PR rep for fanmail. If you just send it directly to the company in general, they will usually trash it. I know because I've done it personally.

It depends on the company and what you're writing them for. Companies like Hasbro are large and usually have specific addresses for things that deal with consumer affairs, marketing, public relations, job applications, legal, finacing ect ect with multiple offices. I dunno where you'd send stuff to Hasbro like fanmail, but if you send it in and it ends up in the finacing office, it's getting tossed.

Yeah I find this too sketchy to be true. First off who sends physical letters to companies anymore? People mostly just take it up online. And don't say she couldn't use the internet because I've seen people a lot younger than 10 be internet savy.

 

Second off, this seems more like someone's desperate attempt to get Hasbro in trouble. And unfortunately people are buying it. Just look at the comments on the EQD article on it and count how many people are throwing around the, "HASBRO IS EVVVILS" card.

Yeah, no. This story really seems like it is trying to paint Hasbro as this evil, horrendous corporation that is trying to destroy the dreams of little girls all over the world. 'You send us a fan letter? Into the fire with you heathen!' That is how a lot of these stories sound and they are pointless to me. Hasbro does not have a whole lot to gain from 'destroying' a fan letter. Other than maybe someone letting off steam.

She should just let go of her bitterness to Hasbro, and move on. And by move on I mean: stop going to cons, stop engaging bronies and stop talking about MLP. If you want people to leave you alone about MLP (which she keeps repeatedly claiming) you need to stop giving mixed signals. Yes, it was douchy when people sent her stuff BLATANTLY saying to her face that McCarthy was doing a better job than her. But guess what: that's showbiz.

 

On top of that, Lauren has acted very immature about her departure since it happened. I can honestly say: yes I have not missed her since she left. Her behavior after leaving has been very childish at best. She needs to stop acting like "oh woe is me, no one misses me when I left the show" acting like when she ran the show it was all though. Some aspects she did better, some aspects McCarthy is doing better. It's apples and oranges, and she should really just be mature and wish McCarthy the best and stop raining on her parade. Your time in the spotlight is gone because you chose to leave. I don't care about your reasons, it was your choice, that much has been confirmed. You chose to go, so you don't get to act all injusticed.

A polite question; Did you see the footage of what Faust said (I haven't) or are you just going off of the EQD summary? I never bothered getting to the truth of things, but I kind of thought that EQD's take on it *might* be misleading. I can see Seth or whoever misrepresenting things thinking it'd get Faust more sympathy (when for some of us, it's had the opposite effect).
