gaming Twilight Princess HD Remaster?

(EDIT: Nintendo reported its first full-year profit in 4 years last May.)

"They had the most powerful console twenty years ago!!"

It means that idiots that want bad games with good graphics -- the majority of gamers -- aren't interested in Nintendo because their graphics are slightly less good and they don't care about anything else.

People who want "hardcore" third-party games don't play Nintendo consoles and it's simply not plausible to brute force them to by taking a huge gamble right now in the hopes it'll pay off. Although you'll just ignore this again, I'll repeat for the third time that the NX may fix this by not only having far more power, but making it significantly less risky and less costly to support and market hardcore games -- but until then, Nintendo has no third party support because third parties have no interest in developing for Nintendo.

That's because third-party AAA titles prioritize top-of-the-line graphics before everything else, including optimization, and already have three platforms that can provide that and are already difficult to port between. The only thing Nintendo cannot deliver is top-of-the-line graphics because Nintendo knows they're not important, but unfortunately for them, every single other developer and the entire Western world of gamers disagrees because graphics are how consoles measure their dongs, and too bad for them graphics are the most resource-intensive part of the game.

Because huge games like Fallout 4 aren't exclusive, they take advantage of the superior graphics and latest uncanny ragdolling available to the PC and PC-wannabe consoles, graphics that cannot be replicated on Nintendo's concurrent consoles because graphics and fancy physics engines eat up CPU and memory that Nintendo doesn't have. This would either require developers to actually optimize the game to run better (which they won't. ever) or downgrade the graphics, which would make the Nintendo version the "inferior" one in the eyes of superficial consumers anyway.

In short, the problem is that Nintendo is the real kind of good -- not the fake kind of good that is the popular trend in gaming right now. Because of this, and because they failed to launch or market the WiiU properly to ensure it actually performed to its full potential, Nintendo is behind in the current generation because, for all their ability to crank out solid first-party titles, they're still the only developer keeping their own console afloat, because every single other person wants to look good, not be good, and that's all that the PS and XBox are good for -- sitting around looking nice.

And that's fine by me. When I ask for a game, I'd rather get a third-place game than a first-place book.

Nintendo 64 and Gamecube were more powerful than the PlayStation and PlayStation 2.

I find this offensive, what's bad in your eyes is subjective and might be good in other peoples eyes. There are examples of games where they don't have the best gameplay but having great graphics like The Order 1886, Knack and Ryse Son Of Rome. So according to you i'm an idiot for liking Knack and The Order as well as all the other people that enjoyed those games? It's people like you who put me off the console and just because a game has great graphics doesn't automatically make it a bad game, the majority of gamers want big third party games that have been advertised like Fallout 4, Call Of Duty Black Ops 3 and Star Wars Battlefront which aren't available on the Wii U. A lot of people don't even know the Wii U exists because of Nintendo's bad marketing.

That's a bad generalization i wan't third party games and i still play on Nintendo consoles like the 3DS. Nobody knows what the NX is and even if it's as powerful or more than the PS4/X1 doesn't necessarily mean they will get third party support like the N64 and Gamecube. If NX owners don't buy their games they're going to cut support. Third parties aren't interested because when they released these games on the Wii U they didn't sell and the Wii U system itself hasn't sold well.

Technology improves over time and so it's only natural that people want better graphics hence why Nintendo is making a new console. Nintendo can't deliver graphics because their current hardware doesn't allow them to do so.

Fallout 4 is the most popular game right now. People want that game and it's not on the Wii U because the current hardware is unable to run a game like this. It's no one else's fault but Nintendo's.

That's your opinion if you think that Nintendo is a good company but fact is they are not. Nintendo released many 1st party games but it didn't have a big effect on its sales. PS and Xbox have critically acclaimed games that have over 90 Metacritic, they're not just sitting around and looking nice as you say they are.

The guy making it actually blatantly stated that it will require the original game to play and not being sold for a profit, so it is merely a mod of the original game. Furthermore he stated he has NO intention of shutting it down EVEN IF Nintendo files a C&D and he intends to fight it and get the game out somehow regardless of Nintendo's actions.

Balls. And legally speaking he is in a grey area because it requires the original physical disk to play, so it's technically a mod. Nintendo could still "win" a lawsuit, but they would need to take it to court and it'd be a long process battling it. In other words, he isn't going to back down by a C&D letter, he will only cease production if Nintendo takes him to court and actually wins. So it's safe to say that there is a good chance Nintendo won't even bother because it's clear that this guy does not intend to give them a "no money spent" victory. He intends to exhaust them with legal fees before he gives up, and that a lot of the time will sway companies away from action if it does not look like a promised victory. In this case, he is in a grey area, so it's not a 100% certainty for a legal win on Nintendo's part.

Technically speaking he is just making a mod and he can draw this out for months in court. By the time Nintendo wins, the mod will already be in people's hands.

If it's a mod for the game, I'm wondering if it'll work in a similar manner as Brawl's Project M mod. If this ever finishes I'll probably give it a shot as long as I don't have to mod my Wii U

Is that a remade OST I hear, or is that only going to be for the trailer? Of course, Nintendo could never do that in their remaster, being satisfied with their decade old MIDI files that were trying so hard to emulate real orchestral instruments.

Nintendo, they don't have much third-party friends as they used to have and their Creators Program made Youtubers avoid showing their products.

But Sega did also stupid decisions. They copyright strikes let's plays, Walkthroughs, even discussion videos where they talk about Shining Force III. That's blatant censorship. And they did that only to bring a new Shining game, but silencing people is bad advertisement.

And Youtube should look at it's copyright policy, it's abusive as Hell. No wonder why it's competitors are getting more attention.

I believe the guy is redoing the game entirely, however he never talked about a remade OST, so it could be remixed.

Good news on that front! Youtube recently announced they will be investigating bad copyright claims and attempting to limit false claims as much as possible now. No more "shoot first, ask questions later."

Thanks for the news. Finally Youtube gets it.

Remixed...Remade... It's different from the decade old MIDIs we'll be hearing in Nintendo's Twilight Princess HD "remake" (read 'remake' in a mocking tone).

Ridiculous.

So apparently information of the 'OST' has been revealed, and it's only a 'selection', which contains only ten tracks. I went back and listened to the Nintendo Direct to see if maybe there had been some vagueness about the description of the CD that would indicate that it might just be a selection, but Reggie said that if you pre-order you will get no less than "THE official OST".

Yet now it's just a 'selection'.

What a rip-off. Nintendo couldn't even get this right. In general, they really need to stop being so finicky with their OSTs. But this time they've just really done it. False advertising. I would pull back my preorder, but the 'selection' happens to contain precious tracks that I want to own.

I sort of expected that actually. Nintendo generally does that. What else can you expect from a company that is still thinking it's 1995?

That is something I agree with considering how much money Nintendo spends on in game music, you'd think they would want to capitalize on that. Nintendo spends more money on music than anyone else.

They have released a number of full OSTs. They advertised this as one. Therefore I expected it.

Actually there are still tons of OSTs that they have either never released or released waaaaaaaaay later than the initial game. It's rather nonsensical. Oh well I guess.

I know this. There are tons of Nintendo games that do not have official OST releases. However, with Zelda, Nintendo has been pretty good about this. There were official OST releases for OOT, Majora's Mask, and The Wind Waker (I don't know about Skyward Sword). And these are all full OSTs. The OST labeled as OOT3D that was released on Club Nintendo seemed full except for the lack of sound effects IIRC. A Majora's Mask OST was also released on Club Nintendo, and to my knowledge it is also full.

It just doesn't make sense for Nintendo to do this with Twilight Princess. They never released the OST, ever. This could have been a great exclusive deal. They even revealed it as what anyone would take as a full OST.

Twilight Princess remains my favorite Zelda game but I have two requirements in order to even consider purchasing it:

1. I need to be able to play it with a normal controller. I played the game on Gamecube originally and I very much found it most comfortable. Or even just let me play with the Wii-U pad. No Wiimotes.

2. There needs to be some sort of new content. If it's the same game through and through I'll just go back and replay my Gamecube version.

The remaster is the gamecube version and uses the Pro controller of the gamepad. :3

They had but one job to make me happy, and they failed it.

Not only that, but they misadvertised it. Reggie lied. You don't state that you're going to get THE OST with preordering the game and then go and release a small selection.

They couldn't even put the Hyrule Castle/Ganon's tower theme which is one of my favorites of all, instead they give us Death Mountain? Pathetic, absolutely pathetic.

I am quite annoyed the the extra content is locked behind amiibo as you know, so this is a double failure to me. The game looks nice and all, but really it's not such a huge overhaul to justify $50 stand alone considering all the new content is locked behind the amiibo. So unless you order the stupid special edition there is no reason to get this remaster, you may as well pick up a gamecube copy and a Wii which are still relatively easy to find these days.

Also I hope you ordered from the devil Gamestop because I apparently heard there is a rumor that the soundtrack is a Gamestop exclusive, but Nintendo has been ambiguous or not if this is true. This is like some of the WORST marketing they have ever done:

  • Call a song selection a soundtrack to mislead people, only announce what it actually is a few days before launch.
  • Not tell us how to ACTUALLY GET IT.
  • Make it possibly store exclusive which is dumb considering we all know how GameStop and store exclusive titles go... (Hello Xenoblades Chronicles for the Wii).
  • Advertise new features them lock them behind the special edition of the game.
  • Charge $50 for a remaster.

Nintendo should drop out of the remaster business, they're not very good at it. Stick to your full scale remakes and while you're at it Nintendo, drop out of the pre-order incentive game because you suck at that too. No offense to people who like music, but a soundtrack does not move pre-orders. That is not a "bonus" to many people. The only reason a majority of people are pre-ordering because they know you produce so few copies of shit, Nintendo and they want to make sure they get the special edition or they basically won't be able to get it at all, and they won't be able to get the standard edition for a month after it releases because you guys pump out so few copies.

I'm getting really tired of Nintendo doing this crap. They only do it to keep the value of their games high, and it's getting absurd how Nintendo games stay expensive for so fucking long, especially when they are the most watered down games.

I did. It was only out of sheer luck. I had waited to see if I could get a confirmation on who had the OST, Amazon and Best Buy both sold out. I still didn't have a confirmation, but freaked out when I found out that if I didn't pre-order from somewhere I wasn't going to get it either way. =/

You're right this was a disaster. Completely. They should have specified which retailers would get it. Especially when only ONE retailer ended up getting it in the end. And then they advertised it as THE OST.

I feel so ripped off... Yet I won't stop my pre-order because the 'sound collection' still contains some tracks that have never been officially released.

I'm not entirely surprised though. Nintendo's marketing has been garbage since the Wii U came out. Remember how many people asked "is this like a tablet for my Wii?" No one knew it was a new system for a long time, and some people STILL don't. The 3DS and 2DS are another marketing disaster that they got lucky with. "So it plays my DS games in 3D? What if I don't want that? I'll just stick with my regular DS". And of course the having to point out that the 2DS plays the same games AGAIN AND AGAIN.

Oh and now we have the "New" 3DS. Yeah, I'm sure that isn't confusing to anyone. So now you have the 3DS and the 2DS that play the same games, but not to be mistaken with the NEW 3DS which can play some new games that the others can't, but still works with the old games. GOOD JOB NINTENDO. Whoever does your marketing I want to meet him, solely because I want to know if I can get a job with you guys. I would love to work for a company that basically lets me suck at my job for so long and keep my job. Here I am actually trying at my job when I could just work for Nintendo.
