Any Advice On How To Run A Pony Panel?

I'll be running my first ever panel at Ponyville Ciderfest. I have 3 weeks to prepare. Any advice on how to plan out a panel, or any common mistakes & pitfalls to avoid? To those that have run panels, how did experiences go for your first panels?

I've not run any panels but I am a panel goer and I can help you brainstorm a bit.  I guess my first question is what your topic will be.  Surely a panel about how to draw ponies will be different than one about why Mayor Mare needs more love.

That actually sounds like a rather interesting topic. If I was attending the event, I would probably listen in. No advice on panels unfortunately, though I thought I would leave that comment.
