I absolutely adore our beloved Princess Twilight Sparkle. I don't think you really have to worry about what a few random people say about her. The fact is that she has tons of adoring fans. Just head to her fan page if there is ever any doubt.

I really have no idea where would be the best place for this. I just voted for Twilight's castle because that's where Twilight lives. I'd really like to go there, and if a Christmas party invite is what makes it happen then that works for me!

It seems to me that this sort of thing has more to do with avoiding negative stereotypes. Just like video fans not wanting to be labeled as "gamers" or anime fans not wanting to be labeled as "otaku," etc. Those terms, along with "brony" and many others can come with a host of negative stereotypes, and you can choose how you want to handle it. For me, I own the title so that it helps break down stereotypes rather than reinforce them. To separate myself from it would be to agree that the stereotypes are true, and then somehow need to distance myself from them. For me it's easier just to have a conversation about MLP and being a brony head on, or to not discuss it at all if it's not the right place for it, rather than to seek some middle ground. But hey, to each their own.

I think you'll need more things in common than just this hobby but people have gotten together based on their love of MLP. Typically finding someone in your area is the tricky part unless you live in a major metropolitan area. I don't think I've ever met a brony in person outside of a convention.

Yes yes yes yes yes! Of course! All of the neigh-sayers (ha!) would have completely different opinions if we actually lived in such a world. Romantic pony cuddles are the brony dream. <3

I don't think the fandom even needs the show to survive at this point. Sure, once FiM ends the fan base will shrink, but it will not die. There will always be a core group to make more content and share their common bond of loving ponies. And, luckily for us, MLP is not going to end even when G4 ends. I think Hasbro knows that they hit it big with FiM, so any future series would likely be based on FiM.

Is that really a concern when you're having a conversation with a magical talking pony?

Wow, this thread got brought back from the dead! Inactive for over three years and suddenly here it is! In any case, the question seems to want to know who would like being in a pony romance in Equestria. This is basically a dream come true scenario, so of course I would be all about it.

I would be gone and not come back. Family and friends might miss me, but I'm trading Earth for an entirely better world full of limitless love and happiness. I hear the friendships are pretty good there too.

I was actually thinking of using "The Mane Attraction" as a good demo episode for family members who are not going to ever be bronies. For me, I might use to to show my parents why MLP:FiM is interesting. I don't think it's great for getting new people into actually becoming fans due to spoilers, but it would probably be great for older family members.

I think the whole shipping thing totally breaks down once you actually are in Equestria and know the ponies personally. Shipping is about imaging characters in some other world. Once you're right there with them, I think all of that would break and and you would find yourself having a crush on your special somepony. (Or a few crushes... there are a lot of very nice ponies in Equestria)
