ManaMinori 4,145 November 9, 2015 Share November 9, 2015 (edited) https://youtu.be/QfLlsfEKwCM I mean, it MUST be. Point at science claims and evidence that identify humans as the most intelligent life forms on earth, all you want. But the sheer asinine, backwards, unintelligence of people who get offended over the stupidest things, I swear (like the lack of Christmas art on a throw away coffee cup being a personal attack on Christians, for buck's sake) just makes me think "really? Are we REALLY the more intelligent creature, here?" Because THIS sheer idiocy exists, and that's only the tip of the iceberg. And it's just sad. So sad, that THIS, people who flip tables over lack of holiday art on their throw away coffee cup, or that someone of certain age or gender dare be entertained by a show that provides escapism from our world's depressing issues and idiots in a fictional world of prismacolor ponies, or whatever else they can find to be offended about- are said to be, without a shadow of doubt, the world's most intelligent life form. Sad, but hysterical. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5YDtRtxTKw4&feature=youtu.be# This Starbucks coffee cup outrage being considered an attack on Christians any thoughts on it? Thoughts on people ragging war over idiot stuff like this, making the human race look? 1111 1,284 November 9, 2015 Share November 9, 2015 (edited) Honestly such a small amount of people care why even bring it up. I think its just Christians are so used to being #1 and every thing being about them they can take it when something goes for a neutral festive thing. Envy 6,192 November 9, 2015 Share November 9, 2015 (edited) This is outright silly. My town has been gradually putting up things for Christmas since mid-September. A shopping strip has had Christmas lights and decorations up since October. My local Walmart has changed the lawn and garden section to Christmas since mid-September. The same Walmart cleared out Halloween candy an entire week before Halloween so they could put out the Christmas candy. The same Walmart has the exact words "Merry Christmas" plastered everywhere. Not even "Happy Holidays", "Merry Christmas"! Yet a removal of designs on a Starbucks cup is such a massive symbolism of Christian persecution and Christmas being pushed out of society? Get real! Open up your eyes. Christmas gets even bigger every year. It's overtaking even Halloween now! Edited November 9, 2015 by Envy Everything needs more woodwind! Celtore 2,770 November 9, 2015 Share November 9, 2015 Ugh... Really, guys? You're calling persecution over a freaking disposable coffee cup? A coffee cup that will eventually be carelessly disposed, crushed and ripped apart by gigantic metal machines and left to rot for several decades in the ocean or a landfill? I'd be more pissed off that my hypothetical religious figure was on something so widely disposed in the first place. And yes, while we do have the capacity to be one of the smartest creatures on earth, we have the capacity to be one of the dumbest. Thankfully all of us aren't this stupid and reason is (hopefully) more plentiful in the silent majority.
Lexamena 391 November 9, 2015 Share November 9, 2015 (edited) I have no opinion on the coffee cup either way. Starbucks is getting rich making their customers obese and I don't drink coffee or cappuccino or lattes or anything else they serve. I do have an opinion on this thread calling all individuals WITH thoughts feelings and opinions opposite OPs asinine dumb stupid unintelligent and backwards but I'm sure I'm in the wrong thread. To me, the media source is to blame for scraping such sludge off the bottom of the barrel, calling it journalism, and using it to indoctrinate viewers. Akari of Duskshire 581 November 9, 2015 Share November 9, 2015 (edited) For the most part, being an intelligent life-form means being capable of rational thought and sound judgement. What qualifies as rational thought and sound judgement varies with every person. It's like power. We use it for good or for ill, for sensible reasons or far-out reasons.Just as that man has the ability to judge a simple red cup as an affront to Christmas and Jesus and you have the ability to rationalize this little thing and come to the conclusion that one man's folly is a 100% accurate representation of humanity's overall intellect, I have the ability to look at both and say that I disagree with both. Makazi 317 November 9, 2015 Share November 9, 2015 (edited) If humans weren't the most intelligent creatures, that person wouldn't have had the mental capacity to conclude the lack of Christmas designs on a cup was an attack on Christians. Yes, it was silly--but the actions of the few do not speak for the entirety of the human race. To think otherwise implies a misanthropic view of the world. Peppermint Larry 203 November 27, 2015 Share November 27, 2015 How I see it, in the case of the new red cups, people are going to be on a look out for anything to complain about. People just like to fight and argue. I don't even think it matters which side is right, or what the facts are. People just do it to do it. I remember my grandfather, love the man. He was so conservative, though. He threw a hissy fit about "Happy Holidays" vs. "Merry Christmas". I never really got what the big deal was about, to be honest. He just noticed that something was going on that was not congruent with his own ways and attacked it. I think that's a thing a lot of us do. We attack things that aren't in line with ourselves. It's a concept that is seen everywhere- racism, homophobia, etc. I think that while attacking something on the grounds that "I'm right because I'm right" makes you seem like an unintelligent person, these things are just part of human nature. Not that that's right or a good excuse, of course.
Roseluck1 245 November 27, 2015 Share November 27, 2015 Oh, I thought they were going to be upset about the fact that something all red with some white and a big circle with a logo in the middle would resemble something people don't really like. Either way, I'm not sure how this is seen as an attack on Christianity. Then again, I'm not American so I probably shouldn't dabble into conversations such as these... >o< Also, I don't really think you should hate all people based on a couple bad apples. EpicEnergy 23,224 July 6, 2020 Share July 6, 2020 I don't understand why people act so stupid sometimes, but that's part of being human. *totally not up to any shenanigans*
