Solar turned her attention back to Amber and shrugged, grinning. "Suit yourself, but offer's still open. Only for a limited time though, I'm still pretty hot."

 

"Well I guess I could..." Amber chewed on the thought, although, in her head, she oh so desperately wanted to accept the offer. Pretty much any new technology she came across fascinated her and while their first encounter was less than pleasant, Amber couldn't help but be intrigued by the suit. She brushed a hoof through her mane.

Solar grinned and lifted the folded up suit. It just looked like a tiny black square with an amber button. "Just push this to activate it."

 

 

"Oh that old think? I practically built it! Well I actually designed it and built the first so I didn't really build the rest... But I definitely designed it! The heat was really a problem on that suit, it doesn't even have ventilation! What was I thinking..."

 

"Wait a minute, what?" She gasped, fluttering in front of Scarlett to stop her in her tracks, "You made my suit?! I've never even heard about you!"

Solar grinned and lifted the folded up suit. It just looked like a tiny black square with an amber button. "Just push this to activate it."

 

She could barely contain her bubbly excitement as she took the suit and slowly edged her hoof towards the amber button. When she clicked it she watched in awe as it all folded out and set itself up before her. She squee'd in pure joy as she entered the suit. Not only did she feel the warmth wash over her from the previous pony who was inside it, but it somehow seemed to fit her well.

Specter's long and aimless patrols had finally brought him to the observation deck. A couple of the ponies he considered to be the most interesting had already gathered, but he paid them very little mind. He was mainly interested in Amy sort of working computer he could find in the room. While the amount of terminals could not be questioned, a quick scan indicated that his standard method of accessing was not going to be available. High code encryption and an entirely different system, incompatible with his own software.

 

"Seriously? This is going to take me at least 3 hours to crack through and adapt my software. Why did the old ones have to be so awkward?" Setting himself up on what looked like the main terminal and started remote hacking.

"Wait a minute, what?" She gasped, fluttering in front of Scarlett to stop her in her tracks, "You made my suit?! I've never even heard about you!"

 

"Hardly anyone has, and that's the way I like it. That was one of the original models. If you want, I can upgrade your suit a little. Maybe even patch the software. Later of course, we have work to do!"

If you come with us, we have a better chance of finding it and there will most likely be an easier way into the system. Maybe that is more in your interests"

"The map isn't working since it can't decipher where we are yet," she continued, "and don't mess around with the cloaking, it takes ages to recharge."

"Okay, odds are the air filtration is a bit out of sync with the cycling. Possibly due to damage. Rerouting the life support systems through the auxiliary units. The air will stay a little thin, but it will stay clean. Engineering should be near the engines themselves. Lower rear. So not very far. Should I lead?"

Now that we're actually using air, I fear that the material used in the filters, the filtering agent, may be almost completely gone. If not gone already."

"Awesome!" Amber bounced around like a little filly in the suit, looking over all of it with pure glee. "Oh, this is so amazing! I so wish I had one of these!" She bounced over and gave the pegasus another hug, as she continued to jump around in glee.

 

She soon realised however, that in doing so, her hindleg was currently screaming at her in pain so she promptly fell to the ground shuddering. "Not my smartest idea...ughhhh"

She walked out the door and to the command deck, where she see's space before her the view is mesmerising for a few minutes she stares out the windows. She then snaps out of it "where is Scarlett and the others?"

The noise of another pony talking was barely audible for Amber, who seemed locked in a weird state of pain, anticipation and excitement. She flew over to Sapphire. "Have you seen how AWESOME this armour looks on me?!" She exclaimed showing off all of the little ins and outs of the suit, before looking up and realising she was staring right at one of the head guards. She dropped to the floor in panic, stepping back a little. "S-sorry ma'am." She saluted and stepped aside, investigating the far north corner of the room.

With a rather dismissive attitude, Scarlett said "Well, you go worry about who gets to boss who around and me and these two ponies will actually do something useful and stop us from freaking suffocating. That all right for you?"

 

Scarlett went up to the console, and almost instantly found a map. She put the map up onto a hologram above the ponies nearby, but all it was showing was the Milky Way.

"you will remove the doctor from her work and we'll throw her out of the nearest airlock." The two guards rather blank faces turned to frowns and anger as the abide her orders both of them grabbed Scarlett and started towards the exit but stopped in front of Sapphire, "now I know that getting the air working is rather important, but you must also talk to me or you can try breathing outside. Well Doctor?"

Scarlett sighed in exasperation "Sapphire, really. I, I can't even..." Scarlett's fur increasingly became hot until the guards had no choice but to let go out of fear of being burnt. As she cooled down again she said "You know you can't even open air locks from the air lock. You have to be at a control panel like here anyway. And even then, we're in FTL. The ship probably wouldn't let you. "

Solar looked down at her hooves, trying to assess the situation. They were all trapped on a faulty ship in space, with no way to return home. She bit her lip in her helmet.

 

"...if there's no way to get back," She finally spoke, "then we'll have to make the best of it here."
