Mozart = ponies ? Radio Head = Steven Universe ?

I after I joined the pony community I saw that a lot of people also watched other cartoon or anima . I decided to try them , I was sixteen and hadn't watch any cartoons since about elementary school . I watched a couple of episodes of steven universe , gravity falls , avatar , and some disney movies and cowboy bepod and I have to say I didn't like them I found them uninteresting. Yet for a year now I am completely obsessed with my little pony , I guess that ponies have a special "harmony" from the first time I saw them in an article till now , I still can't explain this harmony by that makes them extremely pleasing to watch . It's a bit like "early" Mozart simple , a bit childish yet pure and extremely beautiful and pleasing to the senses .

Does anyone else feel that ponies have a special harmony that makes people indifferent towards cartoons obsessed with ponies . I know many not classically trained people who are indifferent towards classical music yet they love Mozart , is My little pony more like Mozart than someone would think ?

Every other cartoon feels so inferior they are seem like the musical equivalent of pop or rock music , no offence , but Steven Universe and the other cartoons of the day are not aestheticly pleasing and are just "overwhining" and uninteresting like today's rock music , lacking a sense of enternal beauty that ponies and Mozart seem to poses .

So if we were to compare the arts of music and cinema , would Kubrick be Brahms , John Ford Haydn, Welles Beethoven , and My Little Pony Mozart ?

It's quite amazing that I can't think of any other other example of the seventh art that creates he "Mozart" feeling other than My Little Pony and certainly no other cartoon I watched brought me the pleasure of a major composer's works .

Jesus that was really pretentious...

As I said if anyone thinks that cartoons or anima are the equivalent of classical music they must extremely smart . Calling other cartoons rock was massive an over understatement , One Direction , Bach would be better .

If you can and do appreciate the high aesthetic appeal of masterpieces like steven universe  , good for you . I outside ponies will continue watching with mediocrities like Lang , Godard and Tarkovsky , we can't all have the mental capacity to understand  avatar , can we ? I guess we will stick with Akira Kurosawa's The Idiot which fits our personality better ...

Pretentious would be if I said that the This Day Aria shares similarity with k.551 , due to the use of chromatic modulation in 153 -160 , during the aria in section I of the development (which is untrue ,  This Day Aria uses chromaticisms and dissonance of early romanticism and le motifs techniques found in Wagner ) . Now that's pretentious ...

You mean anime.

At any rate, only watching a couple of episodes of anything doesn't really give you an accurate indication of its quality. It took a while for Steven Universe to get it's mythos up and running, but once it did, I was absolutely hooked on the show. Shows can be like people, some you can instantly fall in love with, others you need to get to know before you understand their quality. But the love you have for the second group can only deepen, while the love you have for the first can fade quickly.

I'd advise you to give Steven Universe and Cowboy Bebop a bit more of your time, and I think you'll be rewarded in the end. Or maybe not, who knows?

Happy minion of The Fabulous One!

I usually cringe when something subjective is measured with the word 'genius', especially when namedropping composers so popular it could be a list of early nokia ringtones.

There are actual, less vague measures of quality for cinema which have been used for decades.

Of course , I am  sure that if I was to ask you about Beethoven's Sonata 14 opus 27 , one of the most famous sonata's you would be able to tell us what it is the sublime adagio in the first movement  ?

Could you please tell us ,  we want need your amazingly insightful opinion in classical music .

I am sure that since this composers are so popular everyone knows their work , I mean everyone knows Brahm's Symphonies , Mozart's Piano Concertos and Beethoven's String Quartet , yeah sure ...

Now go listen to the beatles or amina soundtracks or whatever and act like you know music .

My little pony is nowhere near that good. And as far as I'm concerned Steven Universe is a FAR superior show then MLP. It's a lot more subtle with it's emotions and the lore (which MLP doesn't have much of anyway) isn't as disjointed or confusing. I highly doubt MLP will be remembered centuries from now as it would require a huge majority of people to say they like it. And the brony fanbase tends to watch a number of other cartoon shows as MLP is often lumped in with the good children's TV shows of our time. I really suggest you watch some other shows as trust me, there is far better out there.

No matter how hard I try these ponies will simply never leave me.

Ok, I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread. Not only does it look likely to spiral out of control soon, the overall point isn't exactly clear in the first place. Remember we all have different opinions on what's good and what's not.
