i need special talent help !

Okay so I have a new OC, she's a Pegasus and I haven't worked out her colour scheme yet that will come later, but i cant think of a special talent for her I've wanted to call her firefly but if it conflicts too much with the talent then it can be changed. Also I don't want her to be a wonderbolt because i think that's a bit generic I'm sure there's plenty of wonder bolt OC's out there i would like to be a little more original.

I think fire fighting could work,  she could drop water and be fast a nuff to grab someone in danger.  Also for names,   stay away from Firefly and do some research on the name and play around on it!   I use a thesaurus and type in words to see what pops up and also go in for name meanings and etc...

Maybe she could be really good at making clouds produce lightning? Lightning often means fire, so the the name, Firefly, would fit rather well, then.

Yeah and I knew that firefly was a pony from a previous gen but after 4 hours of looking at minerals, gems, cultural and old timey mythical names and deities for inspiration firefly was the only one that stuck

I would recommend using something you are good at in real life for the cutie mark. Mostly because oc's are suppose to be a representation of ourselves. If you just give a character a random talent that has nothing to do with your set of skills in the real world you are basically creating another person. everypony has a talent it's just a matter of finding it and using it in the best way possible. so if you do not know what your talent is there is no shame in not having a cutie mark just yet. also I can help you come up with names if you are not completely satisfied with the name firefly. I actually think if you're going to use the brown to accent the wings, doing something with the hooves to follow would keep things balanced.  It seems Firefly is a very cute and grounded individual, at least that is what brown and greys seem to show.  I would expect pegisi to be a bit more colourful and vibrant, so I am not sure why you chose to create her so muted.  It's not a bad thing, I just don't think that it's quiet what you had in mind with what you've described.

I think part of the reason you are struggling is the same reason I would.  You are still learning who this pony is.  Going into designing the visuals of the characters, you run into the problem of the fine details not lineing up properly because you are struggling to find ways to justify the character's visuals with a background, rather than the other way around.  The visuals are dictated by the character, not the other way around. 

I would say hold off on pushing the cutie mark, and instead focus on who this person is.  The details in knowing them means their design will follow suit.  (That's my approach anyway, still working on my first OC)

I am absolutely terrible with coming up with names but after seeing the picture, Crimson Flight came to mind... she's not even crimson so Idk why I thought that lol! From an artists perspective, I would definitely change her eye color. The grey and brown are a little too mute in my opinion. My specially is drawing in cannon, so I see it from that perspective. You wouldn't see a pony like this in the show... not that that is bad! She is adorable! I just think that adding some splash of color would be good. Maybe a red/crimson color haha! As far as the wings, again, from a cannon perspective, I would say no to the brown on the wings, although like MDLineArt suggested, if you wanted to keep it, I would definitely add brown hooves to even it out! Good luck and great job! She is SO cute!!

okay so here she's finished I made her eyes blue to go with the cutie mark 

 

I decided on a blue lightning bolt with fire because she is going to be a weather pony that makes lightning and volunteers at the fire department in her spare time.

okay so i have a basic back story draft I was going to go with something like ...

 

she was born in cloudsdale to parents who where both weather ponies and was always pressured to be one herself but her passion was always fire fighting, she used to look up to the fire fighters and always wanted to be one but her parents were strict and didn't let her. so she studied to be a weather pony for a while but she was unhappy, then she met Darwin (one of my other OC's) on a family trip to visit family in manehatten, who taught her to embrace what she loved, they kept in touch like pen pals throughout there childhood, so when she and Darwin got together as teenagers she started to volunteer as a fire fighter in manehatten in her spare time behind her parents back and continued with her studies and became a weather pony to keep her parents happy. they found out and had a massive row, so she ran away to manehatten and moved in with Darwin, she stayed as a weather pony to help Darwin with her university studies and continued with volunteering at the fire department, her and Darwin's relationship grew and they eventually got married. Darwin finished her degree and they started to earn a lot more money so they moved out of their small city apartment and bought a house in the suburbs, this being a few years later she decided to contact her parents again but they weren't happy and they have continuing troubles.

 

i would love some critique or helpful tips if you have any.
