Hazelnut followed the pipbuck wielding stallion curious on what he would find in the stallion's bunker, his pipbuck and cybernetics were clear indicators of possible treasures in the stallion's ownership. Looking around he noticed the young looking mare spotted an annoyed expression, from what the ranger didn't know. The rest did not seemed to be too bothered but what worried the ranger was the fact one of them was missing. The ranger chose to ignore this however as the thought of his mission loomed over the rest of his thoughts like a city wall over a lawn fence. Hazelnut began looking around to pass the time, unluckily for him wasteland wasn't exactly diverse in appearance. Looking up he saw the familiar black silhouette of a winged pony flying above, Hazelnut hastily aimed his weaponry in panic, but lowered them as soon as he remembered that the pony above wasn't a power armored soldier of the enclave.

Fillydelphia: Operation Cauterize

"Keep up the pace! The enclave won't keep Red eye's attention in this sector for too long, we won't have another chance like this!" Paladin hazelnut shouted to his knights as they hurried to capture one of Red eye's pressing factories located in the southwest of Fillydelphia. The constant gunfire and artillery barrages throughout the city drowned out the sounds of the ranger's steel covered hooves. After crossing two blocks safely Hazelnut made a gesture with his hoof as he heard the faint humming sound of one of the enclave's troop transports hovering nearby. Scurrying to the cover of a ruined building Hazelnut peaked out of the shattered remains of a window and saw multiple wings of enclave troopers pouring out of the transport vehicle. "Hold your positions," the paladin demanded. Unfortunately any plan he had was compromised as the thumping of a grenade machine gun could be hear from the back of the group.

The bunker the pipbuck wielding stallion had was impressive to say the least, secure and hidden away from plain view. Hazelnut doubted that anything the stallion had would be superior to weapons in his arsenal, at least not ones he could effectively use. Hazelnut waited until the pipuck wielding stallion delved into the depths of his bunker before dispensing a strange rectangular device from his saddle. He gestured for his teammates to go ahead of him before refocusing on the gizmo in his armored hoof. He pushed a button on the device before whispering, "transmit to applejack ranger frequency 411376, code phrase applebuck season." The ranger dug away at the dirt and tossed the device into the hole before burying it back up. The ranger then cautiously gripped onto the sides of the ladder before slowly transcending into the depths.

Lupus watched from behind a rock as the mercs entered the bunker one by one, and as the last one, wearing the power armor, was about to enter, it then pulled a strange rectangular object out of its saddle and said 'Transmit to applejack ranger frequency 411376, code phrase applebuck season." The pony then proceeded to bury the device and climb down the ladder. "Hmm, he's hiding something..."

I've been gone from this world for what seems like millennia, Looking for nothing short of a miracle, I only ever wanted to come home, Please won't you let me go? When I have nowhere left I can run away, Will you lie to me, tell me I'll be okay? Close my eyes and lay me in my tomb. Then pull the trigger and send me home.

Crackshot let out an amused snort, and glanced over his shoulder to the mare. "It's that simple, is it? Wait till we get you a gun, you can show me just how simple it is, kid."

He kept walking near White, just behind her. He had to admit, that red mare was starting to grow on him a bit. He liked her fire. The fact she was one of the few ponies out here to not piss him off was a plus.

A real gun? I thought to myself as I glanced back at the gun strapped to my foreleg. It's probably safe to assume he means something other than a pistol.

I stopped for a moment. Kid? What did he mean by that? Oh fuck it. I caught up to just behind him again and carried on walking. The resist to say 'are we there yet' for a little bit of humour was overwhelming.

Crackshot walked on a few paces as the mare stopped, and halted for a moment to look over his shoulder. He carried on as she caught up to him.

A short distance down from top of the hill, coming up alongside the main mountain. White stood proud as he turned to face the group. "We're here." He gestured around himself, but from what everyone could see it looked like he was out of his mind. "Don't go doubting what I said now. It's here." Taking a few short steps behind some rocks, White stomped on the ground, which rang at a low metallic noise. "Hidden, isn't it? Now, where is that bot with the password? *whistle*"

From a hole further up the hill, the eyebot was in one of it's hiding spots, completely blending in with the background. Upon hearing White call, it came out of the ground from behind the group and rushed to White, attempting to mimic nuzzling. It proceeded to say a series of fast inaudible sounds, White managing to keep up with what I was saying thanks to his enhancements. "Wait, someone hacked you? I'll have the firewalls looked at later. No one was around here, good. No breaches. New intel? Nice. You have the password? Give it to me. Alright here we go." White sat on the ground on connected his pipbuck into the connection port that bunker had, input the password and the door opened. "Head down first and put the lights on please? Thanks." The eyebot rushed inside.

"Well, here we are. It's a big decent, so no messing around. I think you be surprised with how nice it is in here. And spacious. I'll see you all inside. And be quick please. I want to get this sealed up ASAP." White got on the ladder and started to make his way down.

He quietly watched as White got the door to the balcony open, and led the way inside.

Hm, so this place does exist.

Foray nodded, standing beside the bunker and using her magic to keep the heavy bunker door open. "You heard her, everypony inside," she called out, nodding towards the hatch, before turning her eyes and ears skyward. She was sure she'd heard a clap of thunder, and as there was a thick layer of clouds above them, she was rather sure a storm was coming. Odd timing, considering it's been overcast all day.

He was about to enter the bunker, when his ears flicked from the rumbling of a thunderstorm. He looked up at the dark overcast, and his eyes widened with realisation.

"A thunderstorm," he muttered, and waited a moment as he racked his brain, "yeah, yeah this is good. We can use this."

He slipped into the bunker and down the ladder, ready to see what was inside.

Kronos' Ragnarokian cruiser flew over the snow, but his visibility was still limited to zilch.

"Can you bring up a thermal map?" Kronos asked the pilot.

"Roger that," The pilot replied, "Bringing up thermal signatures in the area. Streaming scan over to your suit's HUD."

"Excellent." Kronos replied as he scanned the ground. He looked and looked until he saw just one heat signature. "There," he told the pilot, "Drop me over there." As the shuttle landed, he told the pilot, "Stay here and remain alert. If anything comes here without authorization, shoot on sight. Give a few warning shots, first though." He went up to the structure. What? he thought, What the hell is this? Is it a bunker? He went up to what appeared to be a door and knocked on it. "Hello?" he asked, "Is anyone there?" He waited a few moments before getting impatient. "OPEN UP, DAMMIT!!!" he shouted as he slammed at the door.

"It's unlocked, genius," snorted Foray, who was standing nearby the hatch and tapping her hoof. "Believe it or not, I was waiting for you, because I thought you'd like to be let in. Don't take it personally."

Nonchalantly strolling over to the door and pulling it open with her magic, she gestured towards it and mumbled, "After you."

My ears twitches as the little robot started making noises, trying to figure out what they were. Unable to do so, I began to wonder about the small device around the pony's hoof. Looks like some 17th century smartwatch. How quaint.

I followed close behind Crackshot, seeing as he was the only that seemed to make sense. Though one thing he said confused me. "Why is a thunderstorm good? They just make the ground wet and cause irritating noises." Actually, now that I think about it. Why is it always cloudy? I haven't seen a single bit of actual sunlight.

Kronos stared at Foray for a moment, then he put up a claw at her face, signaling her to wait for a moment. He went to the pilots and nodded at them. They tossed the jackets he requested at him. He tossed Foray's jacket at her. "Consider this my last act of compassion," he told her, "Where's White, Crackshot and that damn paladin? There's gear for them in here." He asked before entering in.

"They're all down in the bunker," she replied, catching the jacket and proceeding to shed off her leather harness as she slipped into it. "I don't think they're expecting you to come back, so you might wanna watch yourself. Especially if you're gonna be so hostile all of a sudden..."

"I'm counting on it." Kronos replied, "I went AWOL on the group. I wont be surprised if they decide to sentence be to disciplinary action. I abandoned the squad and its mission for my own personal needs. That's not the way if the soldier. A soldier must look out for his allies. If you wish to execute me yourselves, I'd be honored if you were the one who put me down, Foray, my dear friend. Let's get this the fuck over with." He descended into the bunker with Foray. "Oh come on, don't be that way. It's not like we're an actual military battalion -- we're a band of mercs, things like that are expected," she replied in a matter-of-fact tone, before she turned quite a bit more serious. "But like I said before, we're not friends. Not yet anyway."

Foray reached the bottom of the ladder first and, after letting Kronos pass by her, gazed upwards at the hatch and squinted. "Think it needs to be locked manually, or is it electronic?"

"Still," Kronos replied, "I wish for you to be the one who executes me should it come to that, friend or not." Kronos explained, "It's a personal moral thing for me. Plus, I'm......." Kronos paused for a moment, "I'm afraid of what they'll think of me for pulling off the shit I just tried. Heh, and to think I can make it up to them by giving them some new gear. But, then again, that's probably just me trying to be an ass kisser." He sighed, then he groaned, "I dont deserve your forgiveness. Not for what I have done to everyone here. I've become a disgrace to my family. To my personal beliefs." Edited by Kronos

For the first few moments of his speech, Foray was still peering up at the top of the ladder, but slowly turned her ears and began listening. At the end of it she was fully paying attention to him, despite looking down and pawing at the dirt.

"Hey, c'mon, there's no reason for us to kill you," she replied, her voice in an uncharacteristically softer tone than usual. "I'll admit, you've done quite a bit to piss us off lately, but that doesn't mean you can't make up. And I don't mean 'make up' by calling in more of your buddies and dropping in more toys, I mean..."

The unicorn sighed and aimed her jade-green gaze right at where she thought his eyes were. "Take the helmet off, please."

At the bottom of the ladder, the first thing your eyes would be drawn to was how well preserved this place was. Everything in here had the look and feel of an old pre war home, everything from furniture, decorations, electrics and utilities, all preserved for over 200 years. It looked like the war had never even touched this place at all. With a self sufficient generator powering everything and a clean water supply from a water purifier, this really was a place out of time. The room itself was rather large, big enough to comfortably fit 10 people and cram in a lot more.

"Come in, sit down. Have a drink. Make yourself comfortable. I doubt any of you have experience true pre war life, this is a close mimicry I hope. This place has all the luxuries you. Cold Water from the fridge and tap, clean food and hot water showers. With the storm going on up top, the terrain becomes rather dangerous and it stirs up the wildlife. We may be here for a while. I can give you a tour later, stay in this room right now. You go through that door and the few turrets I have left will start shooting. I'll make sure they can register you all as friendly." White walked out through the only door in the other side of the room, turning back to look at the group before he turned the corner. "Don't break nothing."

"Okay then, as you wish," Kronos replied as he removed his helmet, "Huh, I never noticed that your eyes were green. Hmm. I guess it's cuz I was never this close to your face 'til now and I'm gonna just start walking before this gets awkward for either of us." As he went down with Foray he asked her, "So, I'm gonna take a really wild 'I shoulda seen this coming' guess but everyone probably blew their tops when you came here without me, didnt they?"

"I wouldn't know about that," she retorted. "I was waiting outside for you. Somehow I knew you'd be back, whether it was to gloat or to apologize. I'd kind of prefer the latter."

Lightly tugging at his shoulder before he entered the main room of the bunker, she said, "Look, Kronos. I don't know how powerful you think you are, but like it or not, you're not invincible. Just because you're super old doesn't mean you're going to live forever. And well, quite frankly, this 'high-and-mighty' attitude you've been having has gotten really old, really fast, and is starting to annoy the other members of the group."

Letting out a short sigh, she added, "What I'm asking for is a change. A change in attitude. Less haughty facade and more team-oriented thinking. Less giving orders and more listening to those smarter than you. Because face it, we all know you're neither the strongest nor the smartest. Your body is flesh; it will bend, and it will break. The sooner you realize how fragile you really are, the lower chances that you'll get someone killed unnecessarily. Do you understand what I'm saying?"

"Believe it or not, yes, I do understand, Foray," Kronos replied, "and embarassingly enough, I had to relearn that through my pilots and the voices in my head. The voices in my head are always my mother and father trying to tell me how to live my life through my family values. They guided me back here." Kronos gave a chuckle beofre saying, "I'm willing to bet that you think that that's bullshit I'm giving you, but those really are the voices that are in my head. You know, the ones that make me look like a fool cuz I want them out of my head? Ah, forget it, that's not important. What's importatnt is that I'm willing to change. For you. For Crackshot. For White. For Paladin Ass-- I mean, Hazelnut. I'll change from here on out. No more arrogance. Maybe. I may or may not crack a wise one every once in a while, but that'll just be me poking fun at everyone."

"Well, I certainly hope so," was Foray's simple reply. "Each time you drop in a new gadget or something that makes you 'x times stronger', it's even more frustrating. I'd probably be more impressed with someone who doesn't need heavy weaponry, or power armor, or airdrops or anything, and still get the job done."

Clearing her throat quietly, she added, "Thanks for the jacket though, it's cozy," before sauntering into the main room and plopping down on a couch.

Wait for me." He rushed out of the bunker really quickly to tell his pilot to scram with the rest of the supplies that he realized he didnt really need them. When he came back, he told Foray, "Again, thank you. This time for actually telling me what I'm supposed to hear from fellow soldiers and allies. That I dont need anything fancy to be a valuable asset to this team. But I guess that without that stuff, I'm just gonna be cannon fodder for a long time. Well, unless you guys have some meat that you need to cook. That I can do at least, so Im not ENTIRELY useless yet." Edited by Kronos

I walked over to Crackshot, and out of nowhere, I said "Is it wrong that I want to get hit by lightning to see how big of an 'explosion' I make when I'm reverted?"

He looked around the bunker, mentally noting how well preserved everything was, even after two hundred years.

He had to contain an amused snort at the mare's remark, and looked down at her as she mused getting struck by lightning.

"You'd need to be a pretty good lightning rod," he commented, "And I doubt you wanna go fry your brain from lightning. But, not like I can stop you."

He paused, taking another glance around the bunker.

"Though, the explosion would be pretty awesome," he admitted.

My normal response to this would be some long and convoluted explanation on ways I could do this and why I'd be fine, but some part of me couldn't do that. What the hell is wrong with me... "But can you imagine the size? I best stick away from any high-up metal."

Lupus was still outside, shivering in the freezing cold rain. "Why d-didn't I stay with th-those guys?" He said to himself, teeth chattering in the rain. He had tried to find some shelter, but to no avail, so he sat behind the rock where he had been when the mercs entered the bunker, using it to stay out of the wind.

"Why did my p-parents buy me that spot in that s-stable? If they hadn't, I wouldn't be f-f-freezing out here in the rain. B-but they had good intentions, they wanted to give me a chance, but I feel like I've let them down. I c-can't even find a decent place to G-get out of the rain. He pulled his pair of ruggedized waterproof headphones out of his saddlebag and synced them with his PipBuck. "Sh-Sh-Sheila? Could you please play something relaxing?" 'Sure thing Lupus' said his AI. As the music started playing, he pulled a camouflage net out of his saddle bag, and curled up underneath it, taking a nap...

Kronos was almost where the rest of the group was when he turned towards Foray and asked her, "Hey, Foray, did you see another pony outside other than the rest of the group or myself? I could've sworn my pilots' thermal imaging scanner detected something else a little bit beyond the door. Ehh, probably just altitude and snow interference." I say this, he thought, but I cant get rid of this nagging feeling that there's something outside. What if that blip on the thermal map wasnt a glitch? What if there is still someone out there? Hmm, I guess I'll explain it to the rest of the group. Then again, you are JUST getting back with the group and they're pissed off enough at you already, we dont need to bring this up, ESPECIALLY if it's the other pony that pissed us off not too long ago. Ahh, I guess I'll just forget it for now. I'll bring it up when the time comes. If it ever comes.

Foray turned her ear slightly, obviously comfortable in her current position and not wanting to move or get up. "Eh, I didn't see or hear anything strange before the rain started. You can go check if you want, but I wouldn't advise stepping out in a thunderstorm with all that metal -- you'd be a walking lightning rod."

Raising her head momentarily to gaze around the room, she plopped back down and asked, "Anypony seen a workbench?"
