open Fallout Equestria: Aftermath (Rp)

White left the armoury shortly after getting his answers from Scarlett and Crackshot and was heading back up stairs, EDEN following close behind. Back on the top floor, at the far end of the corridor right of the entrance was the room White technically called his bedroom, he had a key and lock for it for added security. Inside his room, he removed the armour he had used since the start of the previous day and replaced with the a reinforced set of Raider armour, complete an assault grade gas mask which had lost most of its original green colour and became a more sand like colour. "EDEN, record a message for me. You are to give this to people if they ask about where I am: I have gone out for most of the day under another disguise to do some surveillance at Stings base. Make not of any changes and report back with anything new. EDEN will control the bunker, Crackshot is in charge of everything else. You all better be here for when I get back."

With the message recorded, EDEN started to patrol once again, White left his room and locked the door behind him. A short trip down the corridor and he arrived at the entrance room with Lupus and Kronos. Figuring he would give them another warning.

@,@,

"Here's a little update for you. I won't be here for the next few hours so Crackshot is in charge of giving orders. EDEN is still in full control of the bunker so don't even try anything funny or the place goes on lock down and I will kill you. Both of you. Behave kids." Taking a bottle of water and some food out of the small kitchen area and placing them in his Saddle bags, White started his climb out of the bunker and back into the Wasteland.

Kronos saw White and EDEN come by the room. "Can I at least try to talk to your little robot here?" he asked, "I can get really bored really easily." He noticed White went into a room and got out with some food some distance away from the room he was stuck in and tried asking, "Hey, can I at least have access to that room----Never mind, you're already gone. Dammit."

A bit put off by the lack of anypony even acknowledging her existence, Foray slowly ambled into the middle of the room, sidling up against Kronos. "I hope you prefer tri-barrel to high speed or regular," she commented, leaning on him a bit. "Gives ya better range and ammo efficiency, although it's not quite the demolish-all-you-see beast. I'd get it for you right now but it's kinda freaking heavy..."

"Oh. Oooohhhhh. You insane fuck." I grinned at him. What was this? I was enjoying spending time with someone? No, it must just be a side effect of the time thing or something.

Crackshot let the smallest of smirks creep onto his muzzle. "I've been called worse, but that's a regular."

"I don't want to be around me if I eat a small nuclear explosive."

His small black tail flicked. "Then I think we know what one of our main priorities is."

"You can expand that to the universe. Unless you count that flesh eating virus that swept the planet 50 years ago..."

He blinked and looked down at Red. "The what?"

He decided he'd gone long enough knowing his flask was empty, and began walking toward the kitchen area of the bunker, expecting the mare to follow.

Kronos looked at Foray as she leaned on her. He smiled and nudged her up. He then told her, "You let me worry about lifting the damn thing." He showed his mechanical arm and revealed a slot where he can insert certain weapon grips before continuing, "And, yes, I do in fact prefer tri-barrel. Thanks." God, he thought, it's like she knows me that well already. Then again, I did ask for a Gatling laser with charging barrels, which is basically a tri-barrel minigun that shoots lasers. He simply smiled and sat back down before telling her, "I don't mean to sound like a grump, but I personally still think that that White pony is kind of a bitch. I mean, you guys have a plan to attack the Raiders outside, yet Lupus and I are still confined here like animals. A little counterintuitive, dontchya think?"

"...Well, it's in the workbench room, and like you said, White programmed turrets to riddle you to pieces if you stepped out of this room. Somepony has to get it, but I'm too tired to give a crap right now, much less a minigun..." Foray mumbled as she plopped down next to him, obviously still a bit drowsy.

"And hey, better off confined to a cozy, air-conditioned room than having to spend the night out in the acid storm, eh? I mean, you've got some armor, but Lupus would probably be a pool of carbon by now." Propping her head up on one of his shoulder plates, she added, "Want me to get you anything by way of breakfast?"

"No need," Kronos answered, "Paladin Hazelnut was generous enough to toss me one of his crappy meal bars. Apparently it was supposedly 'chocolate flavored', but it tasted more like bark on a tree. I did see White come out of what I assume is a kitchen cuz she got out of it with some food. Maybe you can try looking there. I'd literally eat anything out here. Disdainfully, most likely, but I'll eat it nonetheless. Thanks, uh.........I really shouldn't finish that sentence." Edited by Kronos

"Shouldn't finish what?" she asked, before her mind clicked. "Oh... yeah, that. Don't ever."

Shrugging off her harness, she rummaged through a few pockets before producing a pair of red, ripe apples. She tossed one to him nonchalantly. "I swiped these from White's kitchen last night, cuz I was afraid someone would hoard them and not share. Apples like these are pretty rare, y'know?"

"Eh, it's not like I meant it. By the way, why do you have your face covered?

His small black tail flicked. "Then I think we know what one of our main priorities is."

"Yea. Keeping me away from any tasty-looking doomsday devices. Even if they look like waffles."

He blinked and looked down at Red. "The what?"

"Ahh, nevermind."

"Eh, it's not like I meant it. By the way, why do you have your face covered?

Crackshot blinked and looked down at the bandanna covering his muzzle.

"Keeps my face pretty," he muttered sarcastically, then was more straight, "and I've been told it looks intimidating. It's gotten results."

He lowered the black, skull-embroidered rag for a few moments to let Red see his face - stubbly with a small, gentle scowl.

"Yea. Keeping me away from any tasty-looking doomsday devices. Even if they look like waffles."

"Especially if they look like waffles," he added, "Raiders are insane ponies."

 "Ahh, nevermind."

He raised an eyebrow quizzically, but decided not to ask any further.

I began to follow him and the sniper I had put against the wall floated up beside me. "Where are we going?"

"To get some food," he answered bluntly, "And I'm out of whiskey."

He entered the kitchen and saw Kronos and Foray, offering them a quiet nod of greeting before going straight for the fridge.

"Wow, thanks, uh," Kronos was at a loss for words, "You fine with me calling you 'dude'? Ah, anyways, thanks, I've never seen an apple this fresh in a long time." He took a bite out of the apple tossed to him. "Mm, it's been far too long since I've had an apple this fresh. Did you know that every part of the Apple is edible?" He went on to eat the core, seeds and stem of the apple. After swallowing, he chuckled and replied, "See? Completely safe to eat the whole thing."

Better you didn't.

Foray shrugged and began to chomp away at her own apple, leaning on Kronos' shoulder a bit more as she did so. "Dude? Never been called that before... what does that mean? And yeah, I knew that... what kind of wasteful sod throws away the core and seeds?" Despite sounding fully awake, one look would show that she was still tired even now.

Crackshot raised an eyebrow as Kronos disregarded his greeting.

I could swear I was facing him.

My face remained completely straight as he showed me his face. "Oh don't give me that face. There's nothing intimidating about you. Well, maybe. I wouldn't know."

"You haven't seen me at work yet," he muttered, the slightest hint of amusement in his voice.

"Nuclear waffles. Lovely. I bet they have the best after taste."

"I'd imagine it tastes tangy," he commented, leaning his head into the fridge, "Don't ask me why."

"Why not enchant your flask to be slightly bigger on the inside. More whiskey, same space."

He used his magic to levitate an unopened bottle of Applejack Daniels Apple Whiskey from the fridge, and twisted the lid open. He flipped the lid of his flask open and carefully poured it in, following it with a swig for good measure.

"If I had magic that powerful," he said, popping the flask and the half-empty bottle in his armour for later, "That's the first thing I'd do with it."

Kronos saw the obvious look on Foray's face. He'd seen it one too many times with former companions he had. "Cm'ere," Kronos told Foray with a smirk as he scooted over to the side to make room for her to sleep, "You've had a long night modifying my and Lupus' weapons. You should at least rest yourself. Otherwise, you'd be deliriously tired and won't be able to do much." He also noticed that she was leaning more on his shoulder.

Uhh, he thought to himself, what is she doing? Is she leaning on me? He slightly shook his head, Nah, it doesn't mean anything. She's your pal, to say the least. To try anything on her now would make it look like you're an opportunist who takes advantage of others. Besides, as far as YOU'RE concerned, you're just friends with her even if she doesn't think so. Welp, only one thing to do.......

Kronos simply scooted over to the side to let Foray lay herself out on whatever space there was on the couch. He ended up having to sit on the cold floor, which didn't really bother him one bit because he was used to conditions like this. He was trained that way. He simply smiled at Foray while he was sitting on the floor facing her. "So," Kronos tried to say in an attempt to keep her awake, "Don't take his the wrong way, but, what's your story? I never really got to know anyone here except for Lupus. I'd like to at least get to know you."

Foray had almost begun to snore when Kronos moved, jarring her awake again. "...Eh? No, I'm... I'm fine. Just a little bit absent-minded perha-" A long yawn cut her off mid-sentence, proving the opposite. "Alright, fine... you win. I'm tired. And your shoulder pad makes a nice pillow. It's much more smooth than Lupus' assault rifle..."

"As for my... story, if you'd call it that... it's a bit crazy, so I don't expect you to believe all of it." She paused for a second, letting her eyes linger on his shoulder pad again, before sliding off the couch and onto the floor next to him, and planting her head down on it.

"So, about 160 years ago... yeah, I know, crazy already... I was just another pawn of Vault 105, down in the Des Manes basin, or the Domain, as we like to call it. Some jerk had somehow escaped cryostasis, starting a mass panic throughout the vault since everypony thought the cryo-ponies were gonna take over or something. The overmare, who didn't particularly like me, mind you, ordered an immediate lockdown of the cryo room, and decided that since she had a spare pod, would throw me into it to 'balance the system' or some such nonsense."

"Fast forward to three years ago, and the generators shut down due to a lightning storm. Only five of the cryo-ponies, myself included, made it out of the pods alive, since the other pods had frozen shut and suffocated their inhabitants. I..." she bit her lip, "Sorta killed one of them, and the other three didn't like it, so they kind of kicked me out of the group. Lots of shit happened afterwards that I don't feel like going into right now, so let's just say I kinda made a name for myself down in the Domain."

Brushing a lock of hair that had fallen out of place, her mind clicked and she sat up. "Oh... darn! Have these been down the whole time?" she asked, quickly fixing it back up into a large braid.

It's just, damn, now I kinda know where you're coming from. But, hey, we've all got our own crazy way of getting mixed up in this shitstorm, all with varying calibers of shock and awe. I already told Lupus my story. I don't know if you wanna hear it or not, but, you know, just letting you know I'm open to telling you MY story if you wanna bother listening to how my escapades led me to you guys."

Foray shrugged. "Sure, go for it. Anything that'll keep me awake for a few more minutes, until we get out into the field. I've been deprived of sleep before... it wears off after a couple hours."

She took a quick swig of water from her canteen, before turning her head lightly and looking directly at him. "You ah, you don't mind that I'm leaning on you, do ya? I know some ponies find it... well, really uncomfortable..."

@,

Foray shrugged. "Sure, go for it. Anything that'll keep me awake for a few more minutes, until we get out into the field. I've been deprived of sleep before... it wears off after a couple hours."

She took a quick swig of water from her canteen, before turning her head lightly and looking directly at him. "You ah, you don't mind that I'm leaning on you, do ya? I know some ponies find it... well, really uncomfortable..."

Kronos smiled at Foray and replied, "It's okay. I'm fine with you leaning on me. You're tired, I get it. Anyways, what about me.........." He contemplated for a while then started saying, "Well, I had....." He started counting in his head, "Two total previous parties. They each had three other ponies in them. Two mares and one other colt. The first group, I ended up outliving them. They were already old as hell and only got older. The second group, however, had a much younger group. Don't take that the wrong way, but, I did, um....." He paused for a moment, nearly choked up, before continuing, "Have a 'significant other' in that group. Our relationship got to a point where we ended up having a kid together. A daughter. Hehe. I know that that's hard for you to believe, but, yeah, that's what happened in my second group. Now, you're probably wondering where they are. Well, the easiest way I can tell you is that........they're...........in a cannibal's stomach, somewhere in this damned wasteland." At that point, Kronos lost it. He was bawling with his face dug into the couch cushion. Edited by Kronos

Foray frowned a bit as the much larger, stronger pony had broken down in front of her just by recalling the memories. While she was a bit put off, she also could understand having strong emotions as he did; the thought of the blank, cold, unloving faces of her family as she was being thrust into the stasis pod still angered her to this day, but she certainly wasn't expecting this from him.

However, she'd also noted the part about his "significant other". If he'd managed to romance someone before, he probably would do it again, and Foray wasn't ready for a relationship. Not wanting to get emotionally involved, she simply leaned on his shoulder a bit more and tucked her hoof behind him for a short, quick hug, closing her eyes and remaining silent.

Kronos noticed the gesture Foray was giving him. He opened his eyes in shock at first, but then succumbed to his own spiral of emotions.

He thought to himself, Dammit, why are these memories still haunting me to this day? It's not like I could expect any of these ponies to understand.

He finally recollected himself. He took a long, deep breath. When he calmed down, he told Foray, "Thank you, Foray, for listening and *sniff* acting like you cared. I know you really don't, but it's nice to see a friendly gesture from someone after such a long time of being alone. Also, I feel like talking to you has put a huge, emotional weight off of my shoulders. I know that I don't exactly come off as the kind of guy that is capable of these kinds of emotions. But, just so that you know, *sniff*, I have feelings and traumas, too. And being alive for so long isn't all it's cracked up to be."

"No, I... I do care," Foray replied, squeezing gently before releasing her hold. "I just can't allow myself to get emotionally connected is all. If I do, that's just another weakness for someone to exploit, and... well, quite frankly, I work best alone. I still care, heck... it's my job to care about ponies like you, but I'm glad I was able to help you feel better."

Composing herself and remembering her persona for a moment, she scooted away from him and added, "Hugging doesn't make us friends, by the way."

Kronos recollected his composure and rolled his eyes. He simply smiled and laid himself out on the ground with his legs and "arms" extended outward. "You know," Kronos tried to explain, "Having other ponies close to you, I personally can understand how that can be exploited as a weakness, I really do. But, whenever I think back on it, I think about how such an experience is valuable, even at the cost of one's own sanity and patience." He contemplated for a moment, thinking about his previous expeditions. Suddenly, he recalled something, "Hey, Foray, you think that that bitch, White, is ever gonna let Lupus and I help with storming that raider base?"

"Please stop calling her a bitch," Foray retorted, albeit quietly. "She's done a lot for you, even if you don't appreciate or recognize it. Personally, I think we all owe her quite a big thanks -- new weapons for free, food for free, a LOT of helpful information on the enemy base, and we all got to spend the night in cozy, warm beds." She paused at the last bit. "Well, most of us, anyway."

"And this is just my opinion, but I think she'd be pretty stupid to not have you and Lupus help out. I mean... I already crafted the guns out of her stock, so it'd be dumb to let them go to waste. And then there's the fact that we're already short on numbers, and that you've had at least some sort of training." She fondled a few .44 rounds as she spoke. "I mean... I think you should come along. You might be a bit unstable, but your heart's in the right place. From what I can tell, anyway."

Noting his position, she took the liberty to hop back up onto the couch, folding her hooves as she sat down, and shifting a moment to get comfortable.

"Yup, unstable guy with his heart in the right place," Kronos replied sarcastically, "You sure got that right. At least you believe I have some actual combat experience. The others here think I'm just a psychopath. I know what you're gonna say: 'Well, they never told you that' and other things like that, but they don't have to explicitly say something to me to tell me something. I can take hints, you know. *sigh* Also, don't forget, Lupus and I are technically 'prisoners' here now, so I wouldn't exactly consider this a vacation home. At least when I was being brought in for questioning by the likes of the Enclave and Brotherhood they let me stay in my own cell with a nice warm bed and peace and fucking quiet so that I can think about how cruel the world has become." His tone was audibly agitated. He took some more deep breaths to calm down. "I also know how some of you guys assume that I'm all flash and no bang.
