While I really didn't like the episode, the only semi-enjoyable/cute moment in the episode was Twilight's forced "I'm the princess of friendship and I'm gonna put up with you, Trixie, in front of my student, even if I don't like you" sort of smile.

But my beef with the episode aside, I probably would've been busting a gut if Hasbro had chosen to make a past gen reference after a certain line that Twilight spouted. (Maybe even had her break into the same song, much to Starlight's chagrin)

Would anyone else have liked to see something like this?

Would have been funny if Twilight began singing and everyone else just gave her dirty looks, like Pinkie in "Over a Barrel".

To be honest I can understand Twilight's feelings about not wanting Starlight and Trixie to be friends, but I somehow found myself wanting them to continue to be friends due to the similarities they both have.

I say to you the same thing i said yesterday. You're missing the point and that is Twilight showing a flaw and that she is sorry about it (even if the way she acted was a bit over the top.) If she was perfect, she would be as bland as a cardboard cutout.

I don't expect you to agree on that, but atleast respect my point of view. :)

Twilight's sill not one to be judging. Especially as PoF.

And hell, look at HER past! She was taught dark magic by Sunbutt, was CORRUPTED by dark magic (sombra's door), brainwashed a whole town of ponies and caused riots (Lesson zero)...yeah, not really a clean track record for her to be judging the pasts of other ponies

This is off topic, but you just got me thinking, what if Twilight had a conversation with Starlight and told her that she TOO also technically brainwashed an entire town of ponies. I know it'll probably never happen, but if it did, boy would that be an interesting conversation. :P

Even i make mistakes. Do you think anybody in this world is perfect? Everybody in this world makes mistakes all the time.

Also, her friends are just as guilty in making mistakes. This whole show is about making mistakes and learning from them.

I really think that Twilight was like a parent in this RP, meaning that she gave Starlight too many warnings and restrictions. There's a difference between a teacher and a parent. A teacher gives advice and helps people grow. A parents raises and protects children. He/She also helps them to grow, but sort of bind them in rules and restrictions according to what they believe. This is why Starlight was getting frustrated at Twilight. I believe she got that from Celestia, since Celestia does in fact have a motherly side towards Twilight.

About the song: Yes. Oh, yes.

About the episode: I actually kind of liked it. However, I do not agree with the assumption that Trixie never got a second chance. I think it makes sense for Twilight not to trust her. After Starlight's redemption, Twilight took her on as a student, and the mane 6 accepted her. After Trixie's sort-of redemption in Magic duel, they just kind of forgot about it, and there was no second chance to be had since she kind of ran away and didn't come back until now. The mane 6 have had a chance to get to know Starlight after her redemption, but there was no guarantee that Trixie didn't have another evil plan that she'd been brewing, like Starlight had between the first and last episodes of season 5. Especially with that evil grin.

I don't have a problem with flaws, ok? But this is just sheer stupidity, back pedaling, and lack of common sense. Didn't we JUST have Twilight learn form Spike, in the Crystalling, that in order to be like Sunbutt, she needed to give, Glimmer her space? Or is Twilight already becoming senile? Wasn't it in the season 5 finale where Twilight said that she's not a pony who holds grudges about a pony's past? Ok, sure, let's call her being a stalkery liar a flaw, in spite of her having learned all this before, and supposedly having long since matured beyond this point already. Leap of faith? Also learned it.

Give Twilight flaws. I don't bucking care. But don't make her priness of bucking friendship, and then have her act all clingy and posessive, and anything like a true friend, herself, since way before this episode (come on, seriously, looking for book solutions and not even considering to ask FS of how she'd might like to help offer ideas. Complete ignorance of FS' s presense up until plot called for it, in HFaMC.) Don't bucking NSA monitor and TSA screen a person's friend, and helicopter mom over them. Not at their age. Not as the princess of bucking bloody friendship.

Again. This crap isn't a FLAW.

Okay, you don't need to agree with me. But there is no reason to be mad at me for that. I respect your opinion and that's that.

that in order to be like Sunbutt

You mean, someone who is willing to nearly let her entire nation get destroyed numerous times, just to teach someone a lesson about friendship?  A ruler who knew an entire army was potentially at her doorstep and did nothing while her star pupil tried to warn her that there was something odd about a pony she only knew for a few days but the student knew all her life, emitting a strange aura she had never seen before, and then pretended it wasn't really that big of a deal when she was proven wrong, even though the Elements of Harmony almost got split up because of it?  Or the time she traumatized a pony into thinking she killed her pet, without saying anything about 'Oh, hey.  It's molting, and it always looks sick when it does this.'?  Or the time she ruined an annual celebration that probably cost countless amounts of taxpayer money to put together, because she was bored (and then flat-out tells the mane six that this is the reason they were invited)?

Or is Twilight already becoming senile?

No, I would say she's being cautious.  She has up until this point had nothing but negative experiences with Trixie, and the ambiguity of the way their last encounter ended didn't really instill any of the ponies with alot of confidence.  So Twilight really had no choice but to be skeptical about Trixie, even if she ended up being wrong in the end.  You don't automatically trust someone to be a decent friend, or be a decent person.  Trust is something that is earned, not given out blindly.

I didn't know that song existed.  Now I have to go and subject myself to the entire thing. xD  Might've been a funny nod to a past gen.

Post-subjecting: Song footage earns points for including a pegasus pony with a multi-colored mane and a blue coat.

everyone else? But it was just her and SG in the castle. But yeah, i could've seen SG glaring daggers, like "really?", and stuffing a hoof in Twi's mouth before she could get too deep in the song.

Bonus points if SG were to bring up the song sounding familiar.

Odd thing: The Mane Six didn't trust Discord after Keep Calm, and it wasn't until after the Season 4 finale that they quit regarding him as unwelcome. Yet Twilight still hasn't gotten over the things Trixie did by the start of this episode, and that's a problem?
