gaming Anyone else dissapointed at "Meet Your Match"?

Guess what. i sure as heck am. The update took tf2 as we know it and shoved it down a blender, then poured that blended mess into a new mess that is cs:go. they literally turned my favourite game into Counter Strike: Global offensive.

I am dissapointed and mad at the same time.

why?

because Pubs are no longer.

You cannot choose what map you want to play. you're given a random chance of either map in that rotation. no wait, rotations are no more. voting system is disabled on valve servers. THIS PISSES ME OFF!

I was waiting an entire 30 minutes just to find a match of attack/defense and they put me in the worst possible map: cp_Junction. i tried again, i got steel, which pleased me seeing as i like cp_steel. but when we were about to win, the entire enemy team left, leaving us in a 5v12 sorta situation. and guess what. No Autobalance. that's right.

however some things pleased me about the update.

such as the mediguns now using the Quick-fix speed attribute across all mediguns. Blast jump mirroring is however only for the quickfix.

and... thats it. they also killed my favourite primary for the scout: the shortstop.

you can now PUSH people???? WHY?! that 20% extra Health from Health packs was a big deal and it was to no harm!

so yeah.... that's my semi-rant about the meet your match update...... gee wiz, i hope they don't screw us over again like this.

You can still join custom community servers.

Besides that, though, I agree with you about the update. It seems like they're trying to copy Overwatch, seeing as that's been quickly gaining steam. I think this might have been a bit of desperation on Valve's part, they're trying to stay relevant, seeing as how they've been losing a lot of players' trust, over the last few years, what with updates that had cut content, a lack of interesting new weapons, unnecessary amounts of cosmetics, and a couple updates that were literally the same thing, with reskinned stock weapons, a la CS:GO.

TF2 will probably not be a popular thing in the next few years, I think. It will have it's loyal fans, but not much more than that.

So many bugs right now it's not even funny.  I liked just jumping into a random game and screwing around for fun.  Now it takes 15+ minutes to find a game.  Same as last time, one team just rolls the other most of the time.  I almost wish this new update never happened at this point.

Have you even seen the community servers? Most of them are all like "100% CRITS, RAPID FIRE, TRADE_PLAZA, JOIN NOW!"

  • The long waiting times was a bug and that was a patch. I would be in a game in under two minutes. (Maybe its your location. Its fine where I am.)
  • The other patches were fine I guess, I mean trying to set things up with competitive and everything.
  • The shortstop change was a bit strange, I mean, there was no reason why they changed it.
  • What I do like is the base speed change of the spy, the changes to the teleporter and the medi-beam speed boost.
  • I did think that they really went full retard when they decided to remove pubs.

Finally a topic about this update,if i had to summarise this update in two words,it would be Total disaster

Here are the reasons.

-they resetted my Viewmodel everytime i start tf2

-casual matchmaking dosent add xp when win sometimes

-no pubs like everyone said but quickplay dialog is still there apparently

-pretty meh Buffs and nerfs

-taunts are pretty meh too

-UI(s) looks like cs go

You can find good servers, though, if you know how to look.

The matchmaking I like, if it's speedy, cool.

The thing about this, though, is the timing. Valve obviously wanted to compete with Overwatch. A lot of the additionss are already in OW.

But, the patches that really pissed some players of were End of the Line, Gun Mettle, and Tough Break. I'm willing to give Valve another chance, though. This update seems promising, andf could well be very good in the end.

I pretty much gave up on this game after the MvM update and was only further driven away with the CS:GO-ish weapon skins, unusual weapons and all that shit. From what i can tell Valve is trying to copy Overwatch's formula. (Ironic considering Overwatch took so much inspiration from TF2) They realize the game is past its prime and is now on a downward spiral in popularity, i guess they're just trying to hold out for as long as they can. I uninstalled it long ago and have moved on to Overwatch.

Not to mention OW mainly took inspiration from TF2, not directly copied, which is what Valve has done.

I wasn't sure what to think of this update at first, but after playing a few matches I then started to hate it. Not only can you not choose which map you want to be in anymore, but the matches themselves are too damn short. You can only play for 2 rounds, and then the match is finally over. You can't even play in a match for as long as you like anymore. :okiedokieloki:

You can still choose what map to play on... On the community servers browser there is a bar that says map. Just type the name of the map you want. (pl_upwards, ctf_well, etc.)

but i don't want to play on Community servers! i want to play pubs! but oh wait, that doesn't exist anymore!

@@Fiery Shadow,

The only reason they did this was so that they could revive the community servers. Community servers with map rotation were being overtaken by Valve servers. And therefore, the Map Rotation Servers died out, leaving behind the Trade Servers. Valve wanted the Map Rotation Servers to return and therefore got rid of pubbing. Just wait a while. The Map Rotation Servers are bound to return.

but most of the servers are just "TRADE RAPID FIRE INFINITE AMMO ALL CRITS JOIN NOW!"-type of servers. just like you said.

I said that the community vanilla map-rotation servers died out due to being overtaken by Valve Servers. Only the Trade Servers remained. Valve wants the community vanilla servers to return and hence, got rid of the Valve servers.

And I mentioned that earlier as well.

Casual Matchmaking sucks. They at least need to bring back Quickplay and have Casual Matchmaking use Quickplay servers but with different params.

For the rest it's "meh" to me.

You know what we need? We need more FIG TF2 servers. No pony mods, just straight up vanilla with vanilla maps. #MakeTheServerBrowserGreatAgain

I had another shot at it today and it was just as bad as ever.  All 5 matches I played were total rolls, none of the games were even close to being fair.  One game my entire team had a max of 2 kills per player besides me and my friend while the other team had several players who had 15+ kills.

The idea that if a team does well then they get a bonus in the next match is just an awful idea IMO.  If an entire team gets held back in spawn for 4 minutes strait then why should the team who is already winning get a buff?  If just makes it impossible for the weak team and almost guarantees that the losing team fails.

Another awful thing about it is that you can't kick anymore meaning that matches with hackers are broken now.  Before, most of the time hackers would be kicked off or you could just quit the match.  Now the hacker is stuck in the match until the end and there is nothing that can be done to stop him without abandoning the team.

Like everyone else, yes. Casual matchmaking is just awful and I won't be paying for the competitive pass either because of the experience I'm currently having in TF2. Community servers are a mess, so rip vanilla TF2.

Also- i dunno what it is about the leveling system, but it just doesn't fit, makes the game feel more like CS:GO... Hmm, TF:GO? yes.

It also broke my custom hud I worked ever so hard on, so that happened too
