I'm not gonna lie and say that I don't enjoy some of the older style of country and country rock. It's just that I can't digest some of the more modern kind of country. Do enjoy some Roy Orbison from time to time

Crispy has a point, that is pretty surprising.

Anyway, heres one of my favourites, a great song from a great 80s rockabilly band called Stray Cats. One of the greats. They were really great. Great.

Check these fellas if you're into country/bluegrass instrumentation with some added punk influence. Great band, fantastic live show.

Oh, I know them! They were an opening band when I went to see Streetlight Manifesto.

Oh, I know them! They were an opening band when I went to see Streetlight Manifesto.

I almost saw them on that tour! Did an interview with the bassist once and was the production assistant on a video they did so I got to meet the rest... insanely cool dudes.

While I'm here... I've been listening to this band's newest album pretty much non-stop for the last three weeks; it might be my favorite of 2012 so far.

Here's something from their previous album, which I also recommend. Band name is Trampled by Turtles.

This is an amazing rendition of a very good song.

And this song and band are just amazing. A beautiful union of 4 of the best of their genre. Thats Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristoffeson and Walyon Jennings. In a band. The Highywaymen were truly amazing stuff. I know I've said it before, but RIP Johnny Cash. There will never be another one quite like him. A real hero of country blues. Well, not literal country blues, which is Sonny Boy Williamson and stuff (which is awesome) but I mean like that mixture of country and blues that he did. Edited by Swordfishtrombone
