TheAnimatorOfficial 567 September 6, 2016 Share September 6, 2016 Usually remakes of 80s films don't do well. Just look at RoboCop, Ghostbusters, etc. Not only that but the director is already acknowledging it to be a flop: http://www.usatoday.com/videos/life/2016/09/05/89881252/ I think they picked a good month to release MLP. The director didn't say it's going to be a flop; he said it's going to be a challenge making a film that will be a worthy followup to a masterpiece like the original, and in fact feels very excited in making that a reality. Box office wise it's nothing. Blade Runner is a cult classic and nobody has really demanded a sequel to it except those few die hard fans. Thor on Nov. 6 would have been more worrysome. Denim&Venöm 19,964 September 6, 2016 Share September 6, 2016 Besides, we've got differing audiences. The older crowd that were fans of the original and the casual male demographic probably won't be going to see MLP anyways. It's Applejacks and oranges. Megas 27,981 September 6, 2016 Share September 6, 2016 annnnd, your point is? These movies are aiming at totally different audiences. Whether Blade Runner is successful totally or not has no part in whether MLP is successful because they aren't aiming for little girls or bronies. Red Cedar 1,408 September 6, 2016 Share September 6, 2016 Okay, the two have massively different target audiences and those who are fans of both will see both, so the fact that they are being released the same weekend really isn't much of an issue. cmarston1 5,962 September 6, 2016 Share September 6, 2016 Still doesn't men the 2017 is going to be a huge success, either.
Foxy Socks 2,602 September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 (edited) As much as I love the original it isn't likely to be a huge success. Remakes and sequels are generally a bad idea for things like this so I doubt it to be a threat. Also, two completely different audiences. MLP probably is scheduled at the best time possible, and I doubt a sequel of an 80's cult classic (while good) will pose any major competition. Mesme Rize 15,690 September 7, 2016 Share September 7, 2016 Why are you so dead set on wanting that the movie is a success breaking 500 million dollars? Just enjoy the movie you silly pony. Besides, thinking these numbers is unrealistic. Also, i go for Blade Runner 2, just because of general curiosity since the original is one of my favs. And i won't go for the MLP Movie, because the german dub sucks. So yeah, a brony like me, rather goes to see blade runner. My OC Mesme Rize: >https://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/mesme-rize-r8777 Thank you Randimaxis for this Wonderful Avatar. Please, don't be afraid to talk to me. I am not as unapproachable, as you might think.
KatonRyu 1,034 September 27, 2016 Share September 27, 2016 The target demographics of Blade Runner and MLP are vastly different, so I doubt it'd be much competition even if it were amazing. Most people who'd want to see both movies would probably go to both anyway.
