What do you think about the writers finally getting their heads out of their asses and writing Spike consistently this season? Has anyone here become a fan of him this season?

Spike's my favorite character though, so I might have to watch it if he's getting better screen time

Spike actually got more screen time in the last two seasons than in the first four. But with all three of his own episodes now out of the way, he certainly won't be getting as much screen time now for the rest of the season.

Then again, it's not like it would be fair to the Spike fans if Spike was pushed into the background for the entire season.

I have to admit that with how Spike has been written this season with episodes like Gauntlet of Fire and The Times They Are A Changeling, he sure has grown up a lot. He's made friends with Ember and gained the dragons as a valuable ally to Equestria, and was able to help Twilight, Cadance, and Shining Armor put their own pasts with Queen Chrysalis and the events of A Canterlot Wedding behind them to accept Thorax as a friend as a stepping stone to overcoming their prejudice of Changelings as a whole.

 

Spike has done a lot, and I'm impressed with what the writers have done with him this season very much. I do hope he has a major role in the finale as well with helping Starlight save the Mane Six, and in turn, save Equestria as well from the villain, especially if it is Queen Chrysalis making her long-awaited comeback.

I'm happy about it. After the abysmal Princess Spike, its about time the writers realised that Spike wasn't just a punching bag and was dependable to the core. Yeah, he still has his moments, but he's not Twilight's #1 Assistant for nothing!

Spike has grown a lot in this season thankfully and it seems the writers are letting him grow a bit and just not shoving this growth on the back burner like they had been.  Maybe its due to getting some new writers in perhaps but its still a nice change to see given I do like Spike most of the time.

I'm glad that Spike gets more heroism and noticed in this season. It shows he's just as important as the Main Six.

Well, he's been treated better this season than in previous ones. Gauntlet of Fire is easily my favourite Spike episode and while I have my issues with The Times They Are a Changeling, he's at least at his best in that episode too. Dungeons and Discords is more of a side story that's about enjoying three supporting characters so from a character development standpoint it's not significant but it was never meant to be. Overall though, I think Spike is fairing better this time around than he has in the past and I'm ok with that. I just wish other characters fared as well. Where has Twilight been this season? I'm cool with Starlight being on the fringe but you'd think the supposed mane character of the series would be getting more screen time.
