Tropical Melody 6,796 October 27, 2016 Share October 27, 2016 (edited) Hi all - my real name is Mike, and Tropical Melody was generated from my real name, which is really cool. To be honest I'd not even heard of MLP until beginning of June this year. Yes incredible as that may seem (*short pause to allow ponies to recover from fainting*). Well I was vaguely aware that some toys of that name existed. So anyway I was trawling through (<-English spelling - LOL) the Freeview channels (a digital TV network in the UK) one day, as you do, and was going through the children's TV section as I do sometimes just to see if there's anything worth looking at, and it just so happened that at this particular time of day one channel was about halfway through an ep of MLP (season 5 I think, but can't tell you now which ep). It impinged on my consciousness, but nevertheless I skipped past it to see what else there was, and there wasn't much else, so I thought well what was that then? So went back up the channels, watched it for about 5 minutes and thought hmm this is intriguing - and noticed according to the schedule that it would be repeated again along with another ep later that evening, so I recorded them to watch later. And I recorded and watched the next day's, and the next, and after probably less than a week pretty safe to say I was smitten! Been hooked ever since. It was very confusing tho watching it like that because, apart from jumping into the middle of a season, the POP channel (MLP has since moved to tinyPOP) shows them 3 times a day in blocks of 2 or 3 or 4 eps at a time, and are mixed, meaning are from different seasons. So we could get bizarre situations of dis-continuity like in one episode Twilight has wings, then in the very next following episode she doesn't, then does again... I have since got all the DVD sets up to season 4, and so have been able to watch them in proper chronological order from the beginning. In the meantime I have been recording seasons 5 & 6, for later, and have just finished season 4 and gone onto season 5. A few of these I've seen already back in June but they do make much more sense if you watch them in the correct sequence! Last couple of days I have been having fun making a pony OC which would be cool to post up shortly, but I'm still writing the descriptive blurb to go with. I only started watching around March earlier this year, but with the folks here at the forums and the regional meetups I've been to with other "closet bronies". I almost regreat not finding it sooner(the show). At least you quickly overcame "The five stages of Bronyism". I too had seen the toys for years on shelves, but like other people, the thought 'It's for little girls' was played through my head, until one faithful day, years later. I snapped and got to curious, researched in to the whole fandom and here I am. If you find my own introduction, it will explain how I was bronified.On another note. Best of luck to you chum. Rikifive 24,265 October 29, 2016 Share October 29, 2016 Hello there! My first encounter with MLP was 'Equestria Girls' movie - if not that movie, then most likely I wouldn't be where I am now. I totally wasn't bothered by MLP, but I always liked watching full-length movies, because they're nice, fun and usually interesting and magical, not like the typical action movies with gore etc.. So my older sister randomly bumped into that movie and when I heard Polish dubbing (which usually means it's either an animated movie or one of these extremely popular movies like Avengers etc.) then I got curious and went to watch it. Nothing happened after watching it, movie like a movie, but holy balls, the cafeteria song got stuck in my head and after a year I wanted to re-watch that movie. Then after re-watching it... out of curiosity one random episode with ponies (it was 'Winter Wrap Up'), then loved it so much and watched all 4 seasons (there were 4 back then) within a month on Dailymotion. I kinda miss these times... The first season... Everything changes with seasons and I don't like some of these changes. Memories...
