Tilgoreth 1,915 November 30, 2016 Share November 30, 2016 One thing I noticed about season 6 was that the episodes sort of lacked the moral at the end like they used to. I mean at least it wasn't blatantly stated like season one and two. But still it really wasn't there. Why though? Did the writers just give up? Did they not care anymore? 1 Signature made by Kyoshi. Baykush 328 November 30, 2016 Share November 30, 2016 Most episodes still have moral lessons, they're just being more subtly presented through the resolution of the conflict rather than telling the audience, and personally I like that approach better.
Starlighty 976 November 30, 2016 Share November 30, 2016 I feel like season 6 only had the morals leasons when they had the map episode and the one where Starlight tries to spend time with ever pony... i think that people were probbaly getting tired of the whole "morals" things so they just episodes just to make episode without thinking of why mlp orignal purpose... I didnt care much for season 6 after like episode 10 I mean there were a few episodes that I liked but the there were just some that i just got bored with... 2 https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&site=webhp&tbm=isch&source=hp&ei=kBduVKzHIMGqoQSA3oGYBQ&q=smile+smile+smile+pinkie+pie&oq=smile+smile+smile+pinkie+pie&gs_l=mobile-gws-hp.3...2593.19183.0.19546.43.36.0.0.0.1.1263.2249.6-1j1.2.0....0...1c.1.58.mobile-gws-hp..42.1.1263.0.t9GmIVfq5Q0#facrc=_&imgrc=PSKZ8o6BCR8iTM%253A%3BpH_DWjyDzGiWzM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Ffc08.deviantart.net%252Ffs70%252Ff%252F2012%252F049%252F6%252Fb%252Fcome_on_everypony_smile__by_dignifiedjustice-d4q4upq.png%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fhdw.eweb4.com%252Fout%252F554482.html%3B1920%3B1080
Luminance 2,186 November 30, 2016 Share November 30, 2016 I think that some of the little kids that watched the earlier seasons grown up and now they can now decipher the meaning or moral of certain later episodes. The show has grown up too in that regard and not everything has to be spoon-fed necessarily anymore.
Cwanky 17,602 November 30, 2016 Share November 30, 2016 Not really. The moral lessons will always be there in most episodes. The show simply got rid of the spoon feeding condescending morale synopsis at the end of each episode. The messages are spelt out pretty clearly in every episode, its just not thrust upon the viewers like they were pre-schoolers. MLP:FiM will always have that Aesop's Fables or Bill Cosby Show (back when Bill Cosby was a good role model ) format and goal. The show is meant to be both entertaining and educational, particularly towards the younger viewers it targets.
Steve Piranha 29,432 November 30, 2016 Share November 30, 2016 No, the morals are still there. They're just presented more subtly, rather than narrating their experiences outright like they used to 1 Sig by Discords
Ganondorf8 11,370 November 30, 2016 Share November 30, 2016 The morals are still there as they serve as an important function of the show's chemistry. It's just that they are not being as subtle about it as they have in the past. Also, the audience is now well aware of when these morals show up.
Thrond 3,263 November 30, 2016 Share November 30, 2016 (edited) The morals are definitely still there. Only a couple times recently where they'be been clearly stated, but S6 definitely hasn't scaled back on having its stories teach lessons. trademark2 485 November 30, 2016 Share November 30, 2016 I think they are writing for a higher level audience. Like in the indian restaurant episode, the food critic, in previous seasons, would have tried the food at the end and become happy and everyone would be happy. But in this season they went for a more realistic approach and she stalks off in a huff, with rarity having made an enemy. I really like it, myself, its one of the good things about season 6. Realism is better for the adult fans 2 Feel free to message or add me everypony!
Jeric 46,860 November 30, 2016 Share November 30, 2016 The morals are absolutely still there. They are more interwoven in exposition or general conversation (and apologies), but they are there. In a few cases, there are several morals layered in each episode (such as Spice up Your Life).

I doubt they are going to get rid of them since they have been a big part of the show's dynamic. Besides, I'd like to think Starlight is learning some interesting morals given how some of her actions have required them to become known to her.

Baykush 328 December 1, 2016 Share December 1, 2016 I see that. But sometimes it felt lke the episode didn't really have a moral. Well, I said most episodes, I do agree that some of them don't really have morals, as opposed to all season 1-3 episodes. The show isn't focusing on teaching morals anymore as much as in telling a story, most stories inherently come with a moral, but not all of them.

Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,730 December 1, 2016 Share December 1, 2016 As most others have said, they are still there, just not thrown in our face like the first two seasons. The subtlety seems to allow for more complexity in how the morals are presented and they can do multiple in a single episode. Being someone that always really liked the moral aspects of the show, this makes me happy. c:
