Both characters can break the 4th wall, so what will probably happen is they'll totally ignore the rules, mess with the hosts then end up as friends or something. I doubt they'd do this. They haven't announced the show ending, and as far as I know Death Battle is still popular. A surprise series finale would just anger people, especially with said series finale being a joke fight.
