Should the Royal sisters be demoted?

The tree of harmony has decided that Twilight (and friends) be Equestria's rulers and saviors, has taken its elements out of the sisters hooves, Sunbutt has groomed her heir to be diligent, responsible, and helped her to transition to princess status, as well as teaching her how to raise the sun and moon....so why are the royal sisters still head of the country? Shouldn't Sunbutt be demoted to Twilight's royal advisor, given her precognition, and Luna demoted to Nightmare hunter or something?

I'm not sure Twilight would go along with that. Last I heard she has a soft spot for Princess Celestia.

Who says the tree wants the mane six to be it's rulers? Obviously they're saviors, and Twilight is a princess, but there's nothing indicating the other 5 are supposed to be rulers, some of them probably wouldn't even want that. Why should Celestia and Luna be demoted? They've been running the place just fine for the most part for a while.

 

 Twilight's role is to spread Friendship across Equestria along with her friends, Celestia and Luna's jobs are to raise the sun and moon, guard the night and day, and probably do some paperwork or something to boot. All the Princesses also seem to be expected to act as defenders of Equestria when necessary.

Twilight may be a princess, but I don't think she's quite ready to rule over an entire kingdom. The rest of the Mane Six wouldn't be able to handle such a responsibility either as they do have their own interests. No, I'd still have Celestia and Luna around to rule Equestria as they both understand how difficult it can be, and how emotionally draining things can get.

Well at this point Celestia isn't qualified to protect her subjects anymore, plus the writers don't want to do anything with her, so I could see this happening

While Twilight Sparkle and her friends save Equestria, what Equestria really needs is loyal support even if the princesses can't do it, and that would PERFECTLY describe Celestia and Luna.

Yeah, I don't really see  when the tree of harmony said Twilight and her friends should be rulers. Plus, I still think Celestia and Luna are still better qualified for the job.

Yes, they should be demoted to "The Royal Brothers" :-o   Seriously, I've seen some fics where Twilight succeeds Celestia, but IMO Twilight isn't ready yet.

Starlight Glimmer should succeed Luna. Luna has proven that she has become old and weak, when she let herself be captured by changeling drones. Luna will die anyway very soon.

 

Starlight Glimmer will raise the moon in the future.
