ManaMinori 4,149 January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 Status quo has been broken so many times in g4, and continues to do so. So my question is, if there is a gen 4.5 or G5 reboot, can you see Hasbro letting go of its princess sterotype, now that they've established that little girls can have dreams and goals other than that of being a damsel in distress princess? Can you see them stepping out of Disney's shadow, and be BRAVE enough to flip the future of female characters 2 Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
TBD 17,274 January 13, 2017 Share January 13, 2017 I would like to see that happen. You have disney who finally turn the tide to a different approach other than this typical princess who need a prince to make them feel complete. Not sure it will happen on the S7, BUT it's need to happen for the big motion picture. The MLP comics however, has already move away from this stereotype. 2 ♪ "I practice every day to find some clever lines to say, to make the meaning come through"♪
cmarston1 5,964 January 14, 2017 Share January 14, 2017 A show targeted at a young demographic =/= pandering to said demographic. If it were up to me, I would up the age rating for the next generation's cartoon from TVY to TVY7. The show would still be targeted at children/be family friendly, but it would be able to have some less restrictions, such as being able to finally address subjects like what happened to Applejack's parents, that wouldn't be addressed in FIM.
Kyoshi Frost Wolf 42,202 January 14, 2017 Share January 14, 2017 The thing is, they are not exactly doing that now. I think it depends entirely on one's own definition of 'pandering to little girls' but I don't see FiM under that definition. 4 Redeem me into childhood. Show me myself without a shell. It really depends on your definition, because I personally really don't feel like the show does that. *Signature by @Kyoshi*
Steve Piranha 29,496 January 14, 2017 Share January 14, 2017 Pandering to little girls sounds more like G3's line of work . What I can suggest is less restrictions because of the target demographic. I don't mean blood and stuff, but tackling some heavier subjects, like AJ's parents Sig by Discords

GrimGrimoire 4,973 January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 I don't think it is pandering to little girls at all considering the vast majority of us here are not little girls. (or are we? I mean I can only speak for myself here) If it was pandering I don't think it would have the draw for so many it currently does. I think although they have a set demographic in mind, they write and produce the show in such a way that it just appeals to far more people than that. I also think they realize it now, and just as the Guardians of Harmony toyline is addressing, i think any future series will be much different with a much different demographic in mind. ~No profound statement needed~
