It wasn't to co-write, or pitch ideas. The winner was a nine year old boy. I hate to say it, but it shows. Also, and this is just my opinion, it is the absolute worst episode of Doctor Who ever produced. This comes from someone who has seen all the episodes that still exist. (Love Tom Baker!) And what songwriters do. Getting inspired by others work is very common across all creative fields. I just want you to realize that is how it works. Using an idea and copying a story are not the same thing and from some peoples' posts I don't feel like they realize this. Again, find 2 stories on fimfiction similiar enough to say they are copied. As for quality, this is another generalization. Fimfiction writers can't write well enough for show standards, but someone off the street can? Gimme a break . Since you like hypotheticals so much, here's one for you: Writer: "I have a proven track record of writing high-quality MLP stories, I think I would be a good match for your company in writing show scripts"Hasbro: "No, you know what I think we want someone that has never written about it before, we like being surprised!" If they hire people with no context in the show, there will be characterization mistakes, like in season 6 That'd be an horrible idea. The vast majority of writers in this fandom are pretty bad, to be honest. And even those that are make plenty of characterization mistakes so it wouldn't even solve that problem. I'm not going to point specific stories/writers I think are bad, because I'm almost 100% sure that would be against the rule. Actually, All of the stories with lots of upvotes are very good. No. The amount of upvotes (or downvotes for that matter) have no effect what so ever on the quality of a story. In fact, many of the stories I dislike the most have hundreds of upvotes. Concerned Bystander 2,902 January 28, 2017 Share January 28, 2017 (edited) Assuming that you mean accepting creative input in terms of music and such and not anything related to the plot, then I think it would be cool if they had someone like Ponyphonic do a song for the film. He seems to excel at writing narrative songs that tell a story in a moving and evocative way, Lullaby for a Princess and The Moon Rises for example are both fantastic songs that tell the story of the relationship between Celestia and Luna far better than the series itself has ever done. I'd be happy seeing something like that in the film. But seriously, don't let the fans get involved in the storyline for the love of God! It is convenient that you are going to claim it's against the rules :P I am sure it is not, just say which one you don't like that has a majority of upvotes. Just say the title. I am almost certainly going to say it is good after all this arguing, but at least try. Critiquing work isn't against the rules unless you are rude about it and pushing back on your claim that 'almost all fanfiction is bad' is generalizing? I rest my case. But seriously, don't let the fans get involved in the storyline for the love of God! Don't you think the current show writers are fans? That would mean fans were already involved in the storyline. But what ever. And maybe I'm wrong and it isn't against the rules, but I've gotten enough warnings by the admins that I'm not going to take the chance. But if you want to check out some bad fanfics, you could always look at this thread for recommendations (and please note that it was locked). and pushing back on your claim that 'almost all fanfiction is bad' is generalizing?
