Techno still knew that there was one more line of defence on Ennex putting him into maintenance mode and that was the 30 digit long serial number code that only Techno knew himself. But he also knew that likely Ennex had seen the code in Techno's service manual on his computers...

 

TU: To be honest Ennex to get to the pocket dimension controls you would have to take complete control of me and you would do that by putting me into maintenance mode. Your close to activating maintenance mode but still there's one more line of defence that may be enough to stop you from putting me into maintenance mode. So the question is can you put me into maintenance mode?

Ennex paused, looking up to watch the strings of code fly past.  He remembered something from his research last year.... groups of numbers....

He had it.  "There is only one way to find out," he replied, and activated the files in the folder.  "I do recall a series of number combinations from my research, and one of them is bound to have an effect on you...."

Everything in the world of Techno's head the froze only to flash to 1s and 0s and blue pixels for a moment before Ennex was back in the pocket dimension. Techno was now frozen and his eyes were displaying the text RESTARTING... In blue before his eyes went back for a moment only to come back on to say BOOTING INTO MAINTENANCE MODE... Then his eyes went to normal except he had the text MAINTENANCE MODE flashing on his eyes. Techno's system had completely rebooted into a another inbuilt version of his operating system that was the maintenance version of Alstrome. Ennex now had a complete control interface in his head for Techno. Even Ennex could feel see and hear all sensory input from Techno and he could see himself in Techno's eyesight as Techno was already positioned in a way where he was looking straight at Ennex...

Ravage had been watching silently as his master and opponent were locked in their mental link.  He had been considering attacking Techno, when suddenly the other froze up, with text flashing in his eyes.  

Ennex took a deep breath.  "Ahhhh.... that was.... an interesting experience."  He blinked, taking a moment to realize that he could see from not only his own, but also from Techno's eyes.  

"Sir, what is happening?" asked Ravage.

"I am not sure," the blue pony replied.  He rubbed his head, as the dual-vision was starting to give him a headache.  "Somehow, I believe that I am in control of him now."

"We should destroy him," Ravage said, staring at the cyber-pony.

"Wait," ordered Ennex.  "Let me see if I can get us out of here...."  He closed his eyes, concentrating on disabling the pocket dimension....

Ennex then got a message in his head reading: SHUTTING DOWN POCKET DIMENSION RUNTIME. PLEASE WAIT... Before they knew it they were back in the office in the real world. Ennex then got another message from Techno's system saying: SYSTEM READY...

Woody had finished reading the letter "Well my sister right we can't say no to ya. It's too risky now."

Another member of Maple's army gave her a few reports She read through them and was defeated when she read about her getting capture. "I'm gonna go take a walk for a minute... I need to clear my head of that encounter."

"Alright sister. Go ahead I'll introduce Yang here to your small army." Woody motioned for Yang to follow him.

A brown unicorn mare stood in the bakery's doorway, using magic to suspend a small brown bag in the air beside her. "Thank you very much" The mare's words were followed by the sound of the bakery's door gently closing. Now out of hearing range and sight, she let out an exasperated sigh, "This town isn't what it used to be." She made sure to keep the bag floating behind her, as she begun to walk, aiming to head no where in particular. "Ever since Chrysalis and Sombra..." Realizing what she had said, the mare stopped and looked around nervously, cheeking to see if someone had overheard her. "Queen Chrysalis and Lord Sombra. Yup, this place sure has changed!" She spoke with an exaggerated grin and overly happy tone, it would be obvious to anyone that she was lying; however, once she was positive the coast was clear, she dropped her charade. "I need to stop thinking out loud," She thought out loud, "Awful habit."

The mare continued walking, casually opened the bag with her magic, and levitated a doughnut from inside. "Everyone's been so down lately," she thought, "Self included." She levitated a doughnut close to her mouth, and took a bite. "Well, Muddle, what did you expect!" The mare could hear an agitated voice, coming from beside her. "You put on a show about the elements of harmony's return. Did you not think that was a bad idea?" The mare took another bite of the doughnut, and said, "Of course not, I just wanted to make everyone happy!" She shrugged her shoulders, "Besides, I have the right to my freedom of speech." She couldn't see it, but she could hear the sound of a hoof slapping against a forehead, "Chrysalis and Sombra are dictators! and depending on how you look at it, Celestia and Luna were dictators as well. What on Celestia's green earth, case and point by the way, made you think you ever had freedom of speech?"

"..." The voice made a good point.

Maple was walking around looking at all these ponies who's lives where ruined by Sombra and Chrysalis. I filled her with strength knowing all her work would not only bring her mother back but it would bring this town back to life.

The moment she had heard this, Muddle froze. "Why me?" She thought to herself, "Don't tell me they made some new law against doughnuts?" In response to this thought, the voice sighed and said, "You're lucky I'm the only one who can hear your thoughts... Not that you normally keep them to yourself anyways; but really, sometimes you should hear yourself..." It continued to speak as normal, unaware that the curious pony could hear it.

Muddle ignored the snide comment she had heard, this was serious. She turned around to whoever had addressed her, making sure to keep her gaze low to the ground. "Look, I'm sorry officer. I haven't broken any rules today... Well, unless Chrysalis and Sombra...!" She visibly jumped upon realizing what she had said, "I mean our lord and queen that is..." Before she could even finish, Muddle had begun to break down in tears. "Please forgive me! I swear I only had one..."

Maple grabbed Muddle moving her over to an ally. "Don't worry" she whispered "I'm not an officer an I'm not going to hurt or bite you. I hate Sombra and chrysalis anyways." Once she got to where no one could hear them speak. "Ok. So I was using magic to help me listen in on nearby conversations." Maple said "Then I hear someone say you did a performance on the return of the elements of harmony." Her eyes locked on with the other pony, She slammed her hooves down. "I need to know what you know. In return I may let you in on something special."

The presence of the pony that held her was frightful, and looking her in the eyes was no easy task for someone as timid as Muddle. When the spoke spoke, claiming to hate Chrysalis and Sombra and slamming her hoof into the ground, Muddle wasn't sure what to believe. "Look, I'm sorry alright! It's true that I did a show in the past, but no one said anything about that... At least, they wouldn't if they were smart." Upon remembering her performance, Muddle started to calm down, and a somber expression had started to cover her face. "Queen Chrysalis and Lord Sombra's enforcers put a swift end to end to that performance... That's putting it gently of course... I just wanted everyone to remember the old times..."

It took a moment, but Muddle snapped out of her daze. Upon seeing she was still within the pony's grasp, she begun to worry again. "Look, if your here to arrest me, please just do it. Whatever mind games your doing, I really don't know anything. I'm just a performer... and barely even that anymore."

"?!" The voice remained eerily silent. I was possible that this pony heard about Muddle's performance elsewhere; however, while the possibly that this pony had heard it was there, it wasn't taking any chances. As it listen to Muddle speak, its' mind wondered. "Is this a bat pony?" It thought, "What an unusual complexion. Also, why was it so important for her to say she won't bite Muddle?"

Maple smiled, fangs showing, "Alright that's what I wanted to hear. Thank you for that effort. I'm sorry for scaring you things have been rough on the rebellion right now." She paused letting Muddle take it in. "We need ponies to join that cause. Because personally I prefer Luna and 'Tia's rule over Sombra and chrysalis."

There was a sigh of relief, as the pony let Muddle down. "Thank you." Now that she had time to let everything sink in, "Wait, what?" She eyed the pony incredulously, "There's a rebellion?" For a moment, Muddle's eye were filled with excitement and hope, "That's amazing..." Then she started to remember her performance and how that act of 'rebellion' turned out. Her somber expression slowly started to return, and she looked up at the pony. "That's amazing... amazingly deluded..." From her tone alone, it was clear that Muddle was disheartened. She held up a hoof in apology, "Look, I'm not saying I don't believe you miss; but even then, I'm not sure if I'm rebel material"

"Fangs and red eyes..." The voice started to examine the pony's features, and thought to itself, "Well, I suppose those are normal bat pony qualities. I've never seen one that's yellow though. Not to mention, that still doesn't explain that entire biting thing. She can't be a vampire, unless that sunlight thing is a myth... Foreign?"

"Trust me alright." Maple said "We could use a pony like you, a performer. There's more to rebellions than just battle strength. Things have been really sad at the base" She held out her hoof "The name's..." She wasn't sure if she should tell her, her real name "Maple. Maple Bat. Nice to meet you Muddle." She thought about her delima for a second "Tell ya what I'll take you back to the base so we can look around but... I know you still doubt me and you look like you could use a good helping of hope." She motioned for her to follow her.

"Maple huh?" Muddle took a moment and thought about the offer presented to her, before giving Maple a small smile, "Well, it beats waiting around on my hind legs, I suppose." She caught up to the bat pony, and started to walk beside her, "Nice to properly meet you."

While Muddle was off making a friend, the voice was still trying to figure out what Maple was. It was so engrossed in its' thoughts that it didn't notice Muddle had started to move. "...!" It corrected itself, reacting within a brief second; but to the perceptive eye, when Muddle started to move, her shadow was just perfectly still.

If her shadow had lungs, it would have exhaled. "That was close," It thought. Afterwards, it continued to walk along side Muddle, mimicking the movements of a normal shadow.

After a few minutes of them walking they got to the base, well at least right outside it. "Any questions for me specifically before we go in, if you ask me any in there my friends may get suspicious so I'm listening for now."

"Ah, that is much better..." Ennex said, as they returned from the pocket universe.  "Now, what shall we do with our friend here?"

"Let me destroy him," Ravage said, "He is dangerous, and cannot be trusted."

Ennex thought for a moment.  "No, I have a better idea."  Concentrating, he tried to focus his mind on the link with Techno.  "Let us try an experiment, and see just how far this control goes."  He closed his eyes, ears folding down as he concentrated.  "I will try to implant a command to return to the rebels, and send us their location."

"You don't seriously believe that will work?" Ravage questioned.

"No, but it will be interesting to try," Ennex replied.  He remained silent for several minutes.  "There, I think I got it...."

"As you wish," Ravage replied, and followed Techno into the elevator.  As the doors closed, Ennex grinned.  "Now we will see if it really worked, or if this is a trap.  Either way..."  random binary code flashed in his eyes, "...I have much to think on..."

Ennex was now receiving damaged data from Techno's system but it was being recovered by Ennex's mindset as he was taking it in. The data seemed to be old memories from Techno's past and even a number of them revealed that he originally started as a human on present day earth. Even one of the files showed him with Princess Celestia and Luna and he was doing tests with them to see their abilities. Even some of the data gave Ennex an idea about what he could do. It showed that he had the potential to be an unstoppable killing machine of destruction if Ennex commanded him to do so. But he still didn't know about the true final line of defence in Techno's system to stop unauthorised use of maintenance mode...

Muddle took a moment, and thought about what she should ask. After a brief deliberation, nothing came to mind. She smiled and started to speak, "Not really..." However, before she could finish, Muddle heard a whisper in her ear. "Ask her what she is." While she was curious as to why this was important, now wasn't the time to ask.

Muddle's eyes wandered around nervously, as she tried to work the question into her sentence. "Uh... Not really much... except... I'm curious as to what you are?" That was rude. She waved her hoof frantically, and apologized. "Sorry, uh! not that there's anything wrong with being different. It's just that... You seem... Exotic?"

While at first, Muddle was just stringing together words, hoping she wouldn't further offend Maple; but now that she had mentioned it, there was something odd about the bat pony. She slightly tilled her head and gave Maple an incredulous stare, "Yeah. I've never seen a yellow bat pony before."

Her shadow thought to itself, "There might still be hope for her yet."

Ravage and the reprogrammed Techno stepped out of the elevator back into the tunnels below the city.  They had a squad of 12 changlings with them, all wearing armor.  This time, Ravage intended to let them loose on any rebels they found, regardless of if they were in a village like Ponyville or not.  He looked to Techno.  "Lead the way," he ordered...

Ennex had left the empty floor where he had faced Techno, and had returned to his office on the top floor of the tower.  This was his public office, where he met with the various officials that ran the city, his businesses, and his criminal operations.  He had received a large amount of data from his link with Techno, and needed time to process it....

Maple rolled her eyes "It's quite alright." She said waving the rudeness off "I get asked that a lot. You don't have to be so careful because I've meet ponies before who'd be more rude about it. I'm guess you hadn't heard of a Vampire fruit bat before, That's what I am. If that's it then..." She lead the way inside the base taking her to the mess hall area. "This is where the soldiers and other members of the rebellion eat." She motioned to an empty stage over in the corner of the room "That's the performance stage it's where my brother sings, He's the only form of "Entertainment" The rebellion has at the moment which is where you come in."

Woody took a few minutes reading the letter "Alright It appears that you are an element of harmony." Woody said "Congratulations However we don't exactly know where your element is. So It'll be up to you, my sister and the others, to find it and the other few elements." He nodded as he walked off to let Yang think about it but he didn't leave room for discussion about it.

He walked over to the mess hall seeing Maple and Muddle in the mess hall "Uhh... Sis?" He said "Who is this"

Maple looked at her brother and said "This is Muddle. Muddle meet my brother Woody." Now that introductions where out of the way she could describe her. "She's unsure at the moment if she wishes to join our cause but she tells me she's somewhat of a performer."

The dragonequus stepped closer to Muddle and held out a paw "Nice to meet you then."

When Woody extended his paw to shake, rather than return the gesture, Muddle gave him an astonished stare. This had been the first time she was so close to a dragonequus. She had experience with their powers, being a resident of Ponyville when discord was set free, and was all to aware of their chaotic nature.

Every instinct Muddle had was telling her to run, but he seemed to be trusted by Maple. "..." She took a deep breath, looked the dragonequus in the eye, awkwardly smiled, and extended her hoof to shake. "H-hi, I'm M-Muddle, pleasure t-to meet you Dis~ I mean, Woody." It was clear that she was uncomfortable.
