too many redemptions in the show?

I personally think there is mabye not enough! But that's just me. I like that the show is including redemptions. Because there are plenty of chances for redemptions in real life too but it doesn't come as easily as it does in the show of course. But I enjoy seeing bad guys turning good! Or at least doing their best.

I think the show is very hopeful in that it portrays almost anybody as capable of redemption, provided that they put effort into bettering themselves. So I don't have that much of a problem with the amount of redemption arcs. I very much agree with its philosophy that punishment should be first and foremost about redeeming somebody and deterring them from future crimes. But I still think some characters should reject the chance to better themselves; because a lot of people ultimately do not want to atone for their transgressions. Recidivism is a real problem.

I'm in favour of redeeming characters like Discord and Starlight Glimmer because they contribute a lot to the show as good guys (or anti-heroes at best), but I wouldn't redeem Tirek or King Sombra. Then again, a story arc in which Tirek reconnects with his brother Scorpan might be pretty cool.

I think the show is only redeeming ponies who aren't as bad as they think they are.

If they're as bad as Crystalias, Sombra, or Tirek they won't reform.
