Just created an account here, but I've been a fan of MLP since the summer of 2013. I decided to watch the first episode of the show after watching AnimatedJames's Sonic vs Rainbow Dash, Tails vs Twilight, and Amy vs Pinkie Pie videos (since I've been a Sonic fan since I was a little kid) to see why so many people seemed to like it so much, expecting it to be stupid. However, I was interested in the story set up at the beginning of the first episode (the history regarding Nightmare Moon), and was able to relate to Twilight really well (especially in the first episode, since I'm extremely introverted). Honestly, if it wasn't for my ability to relate to Twilight, I probably would have stopped watching before the end of the first episode - and I'm glad I didn't, since I came to love the show and most of the characters. I watched the first half of the first season that morning and the second half in the evening, and the next day I did the same thing with the second season. The day after that I watched the third season in the morning and the first Equestria Girls movie in the evening, and I've been keeping up with the show ever since.

My favorite characters are Twilight (since I relate to her so well) and Fluttershy (due to her cute personality, and because I've struggled with social anxiety so I can relate to her in that regard), and my next favorite after them would probably be Pinkie Pie, Sunset Shimmer, and Discord.

My ranking of the seasons (that have finished), from favorite to least favorite would be: 5 > 1 > 2 > 3 > 4 > 6. If the rest of season 7 is as good as the episodes that have come out so far, I'd put 7 between 2 and 3. My favorite episode is Crusaders of the Lost Mark.

As for non-MLP things about me: I'm a computer science major, and will have my fifth year of college next fall and spring (I changed majors - originally was a chemical engineering major but changed when I discovered that I love programming when taking a computer science course; due to prerequisite complications and certain courses only being offered in the fall or spring, I have to take five years total). I have minors in math and philosophy (or rather: I've met all the requirements for those minors as of this past spring, and plan to fill out the forms required to get those minors this fall), and only need to take one more course to get a minor in cognitive science (which, oddly, will be the only cognitive science course I take - and I'll be taking it next spring since it's only offered in the spring). I'm considering going for a master's degree in digital media and design after I graduate (I ideally want to be a video game developer), but I'll have to look into it more.

I also like skiing, hiking, running, playing video games (though I've recently stopped playing most of them, since they were kind of interfering with my life - I have an addictive personality), and listening to podcasts (on programming and software development, history, philosophy, and economics). In addition to wanting to be a video game developer, I also would like to be an author, since I have a ton of ideas for novels.

But anyway, I decided to join this forum (as well as two others and will use this same introduction post there) just for the sake of becoming more involved in the MLP fandom - my friends in real life don't like the show, so if I want to talk with others about it (and not annoy them), it will have to be online.

Hi Awkward Segway and welcome to the forums! Lemme just say wow I feel like we could've almost been the same person in an alternate universe where college didn't turn me lazy and quite the procrastinator, if I'd managed to stay the course. I completed my degree in computer science last May but feel like I kinda didn't deserve it. I feel like I got carried through my last semester or 2 of classes by my classmates after getting lazy and going full gamer. I still intend to try my hand at developing video games as soon as I get past this great wall built of procrastination and lack of motivation. There's more similarities in what you said but I'll stop before I start rambling.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy all this forum has to offer you. If you have any questions or just want to chat, feel free to send me a message anytime.
