"You won't do anything." Legion said, still keeping his gaze trained on her. "We don't need to add to the chaos by sending you in."

"Heh..." Lory chuckled, closing her eyes, drooping her head forward and shaking it from side to side. "Lieutenant, lieutenant, lieutenant..." She seemed somewhat amused. Slowly approaching Legion, she stood right in front of him. "Didn't we talk about this already?... About 'me' and... 'not doing anything'?" She casually drew a few circles onto the ground with her right hoof, playing a seductive, somewhat coy character. Getting her face closer to Legion's, she began speaking more softly.

"One little thing I'm sure you brawny hunks fail to understand is that... violence... solves... everything." As soon as she finished that sentence, however, her attention was caught by the bell chiming in the distance

The bell across the plaza began to chime, slowly it began to tole... once... twice... The unicorn on the platform below looked up briefly at the assembled group upon the rooftops.  He smirked victoriously, smugly as they stood there powerless, while the ritual began. He drew a simple but sharpened kitchen knife, and ran in front of all thirteen of the hostages on stage in lightning speed. No one in the crowd appeared to see it coming, gasping in horror at what they had witnessed.

The ponies at the bell tower continued to chime the bell, until it told thirteen times.

Across the entire city a tremor rippled, shaking buildings and sending most tumbling to the ground on unsteady legs. Windows shattered, and anything not nailed down toppled over. Suddenly, an eerie green light erupted under the crowd, encompassing the entire market square and a few streets just beyond. The runes and marks secretly etched on the stone grew brighter and brighter, but there was nothing the crowd nor the onlookers could do to stifle the ritual.

The light became blinding, all they could hear were the horrified screams of all those caught within. It was deafening until gradually, the screaming faded into nothingness. The blinding green light faded into no nothingness soon after. The thousands that had been corralled into the square by the guard, along with some of the guard units themselves, were completely gone. Vanished.

Lory was taken by surprise when the tremors took place, kneeling to the ground unable to hold herself standing. After witnessing the entire scene unfold and managing to get back up on her hooves once it had settled, her eyes remained shot wide and her mouth stood agape. The mare was completely shocked: speechless. That horrific turn of events was something she definitely did not expect to happen. Such a humongous display of power left the young rebel in utter astonishment, she'd lost her train of thought. The screams of the innocent ponies echoes within her mind.

"Wh... What the..." She attempted to say something: anything that came to mind. Momentarily adrift in her own little world, staring blankly down the - so abruptly quieted - holy capital.

"Well, I mean..." Ozzie scratched his head for a moment at Elias' response. "Of course they would, I suppose."

That was about as close to admitting anyone else was right Ozzie ever came to. As they made their preparations, a tremor shook the city. It's violent nature caused Ozzie to tumble over, almost breaking his bottle of special water.

Elias steadied himself as the room shook, thankfully the library was built of strong enough stone to survive the quake. "Ozzie you alright!!" He shouted to his friend after witnessing him topple over.

Luna's eyes widened in horror. "No..."  She spread her wings out and flew down to the empty square, not caring about the others reaction.She hovered above the ground, looking around.

StarSnow turned and ran towards the throne room when the quake hit. She didn't fall because she summoned wind and surrounded her hooves so that she was unaffected by the shaking.

When the tremor started Techno levitated above the ground using his magic. Techno had seen the whole thing and he now levitated himself down with Luna and he was rapidly looking around uncontrollably. Techno's eyes were were extremely wide and he had a face of horror on...

Legion only glared at her, stomping on the feeling of a blush on his cheeks. He may be a physically augmented supersoldier, but he was still a stallion. He did allow a smirk to grace his chiseled features.

"Try Commander, lieutenants are too green to handle the things I do." An exclamation of "Hey" came from the huddled group of officers nearby.

Legion managed to stay on his hooves, a cry of alarm escaping from his muzzle. He threw his wing around Lory to shield her from the tremors as the building shook on its foundations. All became still, and he stared right at the empty plaza.

"I want ponies on the ground ASAP. Find out what the buck is going on. Block off the plaza for inspection in case anything further happens," He turned to Luna, eyes speaking volumes about how hard this hit him.

"Get back to the palace. Now."

@Star48955 @Techno Universal @Driz @MARSOC

The captain accompanying Luna flew down with her to inspect the square. The others merely looked on in shock and horror. It took them a moment to shake themselves out of it, moving to Legions orders.

Varoyer sat down on the rooftop, rubbing his forehead in dismay with eyes closed. He clenched his teeth in anger.

"We just... pushed them all in..." He said rather quietly.

The nighttime had fallen utterly silent, a stark contrast to the roaring riot that had just been causing mayhem and chaos. Nothing, not even insects or the shocked guards. All that remained of the vanished citizens were piles of clothing, makeshift weapons, and still lit torches illuminating the square with the street lamps. To add insult to injury, the thirteen victims, throats slit, sat slumped over on the auction platform.

A few guards hesitantly rushed in, more to accompany Luna than actually investigate the incident. Slowly and gradually, some of the mage guards stepped in to examine the ground, while the remaining guards moved to create a cordon.

"Sir," One of the messengers, a pegasus from the Solar guard stopped at the edge of the roof. "sixty-two guards reported missing..."

@Star48955

Maul couldn't follow Star, instead rushing to some assigned post to see what was going on and where he was needed. The rest of the guards in the castle did the same, running in the opposite direction as Star as she moved towards the throne room.

It wasn't empty. There were no guards, but there was... something...

A creature, its skin a shining metallic black, stood examining the throne and an open stash beside it on the ground. Its mere presence caused an oppressive sensation to rush over Star. Whatever it was, was skinny and unnaturally tall, perhaps taller than Celestia herself. Its long whip like tail hung in the air behind it as if gravity had no effect. It didn't have hooves, but rather legs that came down to a tiny point like a spider or crab. Its head, was that of a giant worm, with no eyes or any seem at all indicating where it's jaws parted. The metallic skin had a few rings around its thick worm neck, and there seemed to be symmetric seems across its shoulders and haunches.

The monster's head twisted around to point towards Star, skin shining in the light of the throne room.

@Biohazarddallas

"I'm- I'm fine..." Ozzie grumbled, stumbling to his hooves and rubbing his forehead, he held out a hoof to stop any attempts Elias might offer his assistance.

"Wha- what was that? Was that a... a bale-fire bomb!?" Ozzie started to panic a little bit, looking around frantically for a moment. "No... he... it feels like something else..."

Ozzie held his gut, looking like he wanted to vomit. He was clearly woozy now, but not as a result of the tremor, more a result of the aftermath of... whatever had happened.

StarSnow stared at the creature in front of her.Her face betrayed no emotion.She summoned her ice sword, and made it hover in the air next to her. "You...what are you doing in my mother's throne room?"

Luna ignored Legion, and although she wouldn't admit it, she was a bit annoyed.Although that might've been because she knew he was right to be cautious.

She glanced at Techno. "Usually I wouldn't even think of something like that.But...for once I must admit. I agree."

The silence of the night was defining, none of the guards were interested in causing idle chatter, or talking out loud for that matter. Most were just still attempting to reason out what the next logical course of action could be. That being said, there was only one who could make such decisions in a time of crisis like this.

"Your highness," One the captain stepped up next to her and Techno as they stood upon the auction platform. "Your... orders, princess?"

@Star48955

The creature didn't speak, it didn't even visibly react to Star summoning her weapon and questioning it. Instead it merely pointed its worm head towards her for a few more moments. There was no movement from it, no breathing or swaying naturally, as if it were some sort of statue. Whatever it was, it wasn't a product of nature.

After a few more awkward moments, it moved once again. It finished examining the contents of the hidden chamber, then turned its body around completely to face Star. Slowly, it began to stride forward on its tall skinny metallic smooth insect legs. There was no sound as it moved towards her.

@Biohazarddallas

"Oh... well, I mean, there's no need to rush into this!" He said, hesitant to go back through the portal to grab a bucket full of the stuff. "Maybe we should investigate on our own first? Yes, that sounds much more reasonable. I don't think we need to call a demon for every little bump, do we?"

He chuckled nervously, making sure Elias was certain that was the right course of action. "For all we know, it could have been a burst pipe somewhere in the castle! And here you are, willing to make more deals with demons to figure that out."

"This isn't making a deal Ozzie, and that sure as hell wasn't a pipe burst. You said it yourself that you felt something wrong. Well so did I, I felt a powerful, ancient burst of magic. I felt death Ozzie, ponies died up there, and I have a pretty good hunch he knows who's behind it." Elias said pointing to the circle, "Cabal's going to tell me what he knows or so help me Celesta I will drown the bastard in that water myself!" Elias half shouted before turning to face the circle and loudly chanting. "Cabal Et daemonium ab inferno servum meum et vocavi te. Quod iubes et te ipsum mihi revelare!"

Truly, she was devoted to the idea that violence solved a big portion of the problems she'd met with. In the sense that a good punch and a well-aimed kick at someone who's performing vile acts was enough to knock some sense into them. The mare was quarrelsome by nature: proudly so. And yet, she simply could not fathom such tragedy that had befallen all of those protesters.

A slaughter.

Something that could make even someone as thick-skinned as Lory feel their stomach turning from the inside out. A dreadful feeling unable to be expressed by the mare's basic dialect. In shocked silence, her hind legs gave up to the trembling sensation, as she sat down on her haunches onto the platform the group found themselves on.

Lory's ears perked up to the commander's burst of rage. For the first time in a while, her eyes demonstrated empathy. She didn't know how to respond: she simply believed to understand what Legion was going through. His job was made of helping those lost lives - Lory's job was to assist him in doing so and yet, both seemed to have failed on their duties.

There was simply not enough time... There was nothing we could've done... It all happened so fast... I'm sorry.

Is what she wanted to say. But instead, she only stared at him, her ears drooped down in an expression filled with sorrow.

"...Let's go back." She allowed those tender words to escape her mouth at last; the atmosphere being too tense for her to bear any longer.

Legion stood there, legs shaking uncontrollably. He snorted in rage, glass breaking in the distance. All those soldiers. All those civilians.

He might as well have signed their death warrants himself.

Suddenly, all that rage left him like a rushing wind. His legs failed to support him, fallling down into the cool surface of the roof. Head hung low, he turned to look at Lory.

"Ok..." He mumbled, the echo in his voice noticibly gone. In its place was the sound of a colt, scared and alone.

Upon further inspection, Techno would find runes carved into the edges of the auction platform. A repeating design of a downward triangle with a chaos star in the center. The triangle's protruding and crossing lines was reminiscent of ancient world pestilent magic, while the chaos star naturally represented chaos magic.

The residue of the combination of magics was still strong and powerful in the air, practically crackling and humming from the bell up on the tower over city hall. The inside was covered in similar designs. It was hard to see from where they were standing, but there was no mistaking the glowing green symbols, even from that distance.

Meanwhile, up on the roof, Varoyer approached Legion and Lory. "There's nothing more for us here. Let's head back to the castle and regroup, we'll just get in the way of the investigators out here."

@Star48955

The creature stopped in front of Star Snow, looming over her. It was clearly not intimidated by her resolve, or weapon. Once again it stopped, motionless like a metallic statue. After a few moments of nothing, it's worm like head tilted down, then up again.

Finished int the throne room, the creature strode out into the hall where some guards were still waiting, discussing what they thought was happening. They looked up with a mix of surprise and shock, drawing their weapons in an instant without hesitation.

A pulse emanated from the monster, turning the guards to ash in an instant. One it was a good distance down the hall, its skin began to sweat, then melt away entirely until it was a black puddle on the floor, seeping through the cracks in the stone.

@Biohazarddallas

Ozzie had no time to hide this time, opting instead to hold the bucket and fold his ears back as he watched the ring glow once again. This time, a much larger, fatter creature arrived to greet them.

It was... a whale, a comparatively smaller one that is. As it rose, it was forced to bend over in the cramped library space. He could best be described as a baleen whale, a grey body with a white belly and grooves running the length. Chains were wrapped around his body, holding his fins tightly against himself. They were anchored to some unseen dimension from where he was summoned. Still, his belly looked big enough to fit more than a few ponies, and his wide mouth with its unnaturally wide grin was enough to unnerve anything smaller than him.

With a wicked smile and wide mad eyes, he loomed over the two, speaking in a booming voice. "Well well, who summons me? A creature eager for knowledge I see?"

When Techno saw the patterns he then scanned around for magic signals and there was still a strong signal. He then called out to Luna...

TU: Princess! These patterns are literally a portal link to hell itself! That's what I'm picking up on here plus there's a lot of signals of chaos around here but still it's a signal format I can't understand!

Elias stepped back in suprise, "I know you demons are an ugly bunch o wankers but you, I must say are a step above anything I've seen before. Cabal I presume?"

Varoyer approached Legion and Lory. "There's nothing more for us here. Let's head back to the castle and regroup, we'll just get in the way of the investigators out here."

@Driz

Legion struggled to regain his bearing. These stallions depended on him and he couldn't allow their morale to drop any further by seeming incapacitated. Nodding his agreement, he motioned for one of the mages to summon a portal.

StarSnow stared at the ash that had been living not long ago.She turned and looked at the puddle as it disappeared. "...Mother needs to know about this." She looked back into the throne room. "Where...is everypony?"

Luna frowned at the sight of the runes.She turned and walked back to where the portal was being prepared.

Maybe 'Tia knows this spell.It is unlike what I have seen before.

"Yes sir." One of the guards replied, stepping off to find the appropriate mages. Most of them had gone down to help in investigate the scene at the moment. It only took a few moments for two of them to arrive and channel a portal into the throne room for the command team and everyone else.

"Your highness," The captain with Luna interrupted. "I believe your sister left for Manehattan around midday yesterday."

He paused to take a look at the closest runes himself. "And... I think I've seen these runes before... I examined some photos from when this all started, from a small town in hayseed swamp. There were these same runes carved on the doors of those who went missing. I'm not sure whatever became of the investigation there though."

@Star48955

A portal opened up in the center of the throne room. From where she stood, StarSnow could see Canterlot proper, along with a number of Lunar Guards and Nightwatch. Luna and the others, minus Elias, were standing on the other side as well. Whatever was going on, it seemed like a somber occasion.

"The one and only..." Cabal gave off a hearty chuckle. "You're one to talk... you and your friend are rather bony..."

"Now, what need do you have of me? Knowledge, secrets, power? Or perhaps you're seeking to cheat my dearest lover?" He concluded, his wide mouth still in an unwieldy smile.

Ozzie merely watched in fear standing, or rather hiding, behind Elias. Demons themselves didn't usually bother Elias that much, considering the nature of what he himself was, but discussing them and actually speaking to them directly were two different things.

"Well that's funny you should ask, because I happen to have a few questions that you will be answering for me." Elias said "Firstly, what exactly do you two have to do with whatever happened up there?"

@Biohazarddallas

"Well, lucky for you I offer but one freebie. So, I shall tell you this of me: nothing." Cabal replied, smile still disturbingly wide.

"I have no need to lie, little feline. For you mortals are simple enough, it takes little effort to confuse and roughen up." He chuckled deeply again. "So believe me, when I claim I had nothing at all to contribute to such a devious spell."

"Besides, I like little things, not big like you." he added.
