How did I end up liking MLP?? (G4)

TBD

Recommended Posts

So I'm not sure if this topic been made yet or if I'm writing this in a right category..

But let's start with the question How did I end up liking MLP?? (G4). Was it your friend? family? or curiosity? yes I'm aware there are old generation fans out there (count me as one) but man it's been what? 5-6years since G3 before G4 came? so I assume people would have put mlp aside (for now) like I did. but then somehow come back to it as G4 was announced.

So what's your story? How did you get into or back to MLP G4?

For me, when I first saw G4 was at walgreens, RD's toy, I thought to myself "the hell is this? Why does MLP look so weird?" I didn't think they look like ponies due to their oddly feature but I just ignore it, thinking it childish.  The other day I saw MLP reappear again at the Hot topic,  it was a T-shirt that said "my little Brony". At first I thought it was some sort of sexual reference joke pun with MLP and I rolled my eyes at it. And ignore.  Then the last time while reading my "game informer" magazine, I saw a review of MLP show, which mentioned the word "brony" (and now I understand what it really mean). the review got my attention but not by much, nevertheless I googled search MLP G4 and research it. I was kinda tied to their looks and the style more because well? it not too girly as I thought. So I became more curious of why it's so popular. Luckily I have netflix and mlp shows was there so I was like "okay, guess I will try one." So i did without no one there and in  a low volume. i have to admitted I did clutched on some part that is a cliche corniness to my taste, but the way the story set up and how colorful the characters are I continue on.  It took me few or more episode to get used to it all. And here I am today.

I heard about G4 MLP on YouTube a few years ago. At first I thought "ew gross more degrading girly stuff" but then started seeing cute ponies everywhere on YouTube and Wal-Mart toys. I looked them up and realised THEY were the new generation. I started the first episode on Netflix out of curiosity and was blown away!

I have played pokemon since the first gen, some years ago I started to see increasing graphic jokes involving Pokemon and ponies, which I didn't get so well yet I found the design of ponies to be as cute and appealing as some of the pokemon.

Last year navigating Netflix's catalog I found MLP FiM and gave it a chance (I already liked the designs so I told myself 'why not?'). That's it, I got hooked at The Ticket Master.

I remember watching some g1 and 3 episodes back in kindergarten, so when I found about about g4 I was like “Oh I’ve seen this before let’s check it out.” Five years later I’m an avid fan of the series c: and despite what it sounds like, I’m not that old, I’m only in high school xD My parents bought me DVD copies of the past generations cause they thought I’d like them.

The first episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic that I watched was Read It And Weep, it was 2013 at the time and as I was zapping through the TV channels, I stumbled upon it on Nickelodeon (yes MLP airs in Nickelodeon in my country). Since TV had nothing else at the time, I decided to give it a watch and to my surprise I really liked it. I remember that what I liked about the show was that it felt more mature than other Nick shows.

I kept watching episodes on TV until 2014 when I didn't have enough school work to do. Next year, I had a lot of studying to do, which didn't leave me enough time to watch the series.  Until summer... School had just ended, I had all the time in the world to do whatever I took a fancy to. As I was scrolling through YouTube videos on my recommended, there I saw it: "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Do Princesses Dream Of Magic Sheep? HD 1080p" I instantly remembered the series I loved as a young teen, I immediately clicked on the video, I enjoyed this episode. I clicked on the previous episodes, previous seasons, started liking some characters more than others, learned locations, etc.

And here I am now, writing this small story about how I became a fan of the show and its characters.  Who knew that 3 years ago, I would patiently wait for a My Little Pony episode to air?

A poop.

Back in 2011 while watching one of my favorite poopers on YT he did one on MLP and i found something charming in the style of the cartoon he used for that poop. So, while with some reluctance considering the context of the series, I started watching it.... I watched the entire first season in 3 days.

I was wondering what Tara Strong (Twilight's voice) was doing sometime at the end of 2013. I liiked her up to see and saw that she was working on MLP. I thought they were STILL making the old show like when I was a kid. I searched the first  2 episodes on YouTube just expecting to be amused by how sucky it was, and...

A.) I thought it was OK, but wasn't interested enough to watch more.

B.) Got spammed on the related videos by MLP stuff for 2 weeks and was ignoring it...

C.) Got annoyed and angry that it wouldn't go away. :baconmane:

D.) One of the videos had who I would find out later is Vinyl Scratch- I clicked it because I wondered what the freaky hair and weird eyes were about...

E.) .WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!?!? iS IT SOME JOKE? AM I STUPID AND DON'T GET IT???......???!!!!!??????....

F.) After a while and some more episodes I figured it out and here I am.

Rainbow Rocks... at least how it could've looked... in a stranger, more interesting dimension

For those who are wondering, Twilight is chewing bubble gum.

I stumbled upon MLP G4 through its fandom. I was browsing YouTube in spring 2015 for documentaries on social norms and subcultures (THE IRONY...) and came upon an HD leak of this:

It seemed interesting enough, so I watched it for about half an hour, didn't really get a grip for some reason. In YouTube's recommended side panel I switched over to Saberspark's "The Brony Chronicles" (see below). Voila! I was swept into the herd. Homework was often finished late the following months due to binge watching S1 clips and viewing stuff on DeviantART

I found out about MLP from some one who used to be my friend (and is now an anti-brony) showed me the mobile game in around 2013,

My mum set up a one month amazon prime trial for me and (because I'm quite curious) I typed in the name of one of my favorite games (MLP) and saw that it had a series, watched an episode and I was hooked, I've been a fan since September 2014

I'd heard about MLP and was interested because I like these kinds of shows and it looked good. I also used to watch some of the earlier gens (even though I'm not a huge fan of G3). I gave this one a shot and that's all it took.

I also have a cousin who's a die hard Pagasister, so we enjoy the show together now.
