I liked Devil Survivor, The World Ends with You, Crisis Core, and many other hand held RPGs but I find I never really get into handheld games the way I get into others.

I know what you mean, because you see the handheld as a way to pass time on the move right? Like you don't like sitting in your room with a tiny screen for 600 hours. It takes a good RPG to really suck me on a handheld. I also completely forgot about Crisis Core! That game was great, lots of fun.

Devil Survivor was never released in Europe. :(

To me the weirdest (and one of the best) rpg for PSP is half-minute hero. A RPG where you have to finish all the levels in only 30 sec.

And this story OMIGOSH, the characters are hilarious (when the narcisic devil lord, one of your character, must end up a fight in a volcano in only 30 sec because he cant hold his swet much longer, priceless).

Etrian Odyssey (once again only the first in europe) on DS is also a long good dunjeon RPG.

For GBA the golden sun and fire emblem series are realy masterpieces.

And for Iphone, I recommend the chaos ring serie (didn t bough the last one yet) and the game call "the quest". The first is just Squae Enix at it's finest, the second is a classic but so good RPG kinda like daggerfall with its gameplay.

I have Squids for iphone. It's awesome. It's a turn based RPG with a really fun movement system.

I really liked the Disgaia series which I would argue are RPGs AND strategy games.

Fire emblem is RPG and Strategy, you aslo have Final Fantasy tactic.

I only play the first Disgaia, it was fun. But I had even more fun with Priny serie.

Your mission is to find Etna's desert (and her panties in the next episode). And you are sent with the rest of the prinny army....an army of 999 prinnies.

Hand held RPG? I have a few good ones. For the PSP any of the Lunar games. For the DS Magical Star Sign (It's a bit slow at times but I had fun with it, it felt very traditional with a bit of a twist with the combat). And where is the Pokemon love here guys?!

D: I knew Lunar 1 was on PSP but is Lunar 2 also? I've wanted to play that game again for a long time, I only played it for about 20 hours a few years ago and never got to play it after that. Or is it another Lunar game? I have Lunar: Dragon Song for DS and it's a completely different game from Lunar 2.

Personally the size of the screen doesn't bother me any, I will play a game regardless of the screen it's played on. I'll never see handhelds any different from consoles, they are the same exact thing to me, just a different screen size. Sorta like the difference between SD and HD consoles. The only real difference is graphical power, other than that a game is still the same whether it's handheld or console.

I like the way you think. I always prefer a controler in my hand... ALWAYS! :D.

Posted ImageThat's me btw :D

If a game is good I'll play it no matter the console (Except maybe the Wii, the controller is way to dangerous O.o j/k). The PSP Lunar game I have is Lunar: Silver Star Harmony which is a port(GBA Maybe?). I'll be looking for a few oddities and import RPG's while I am at FanExpo Toronto this year. I'll be buying XenoGears while I'm there (it's like 100 bucks!), it was from my childhood and I can't wait to replay it! Does anyone here remember games from when they were kids? Like there first RPG? Mine was FF9/BoF3, played em on the same day xD.

My first RPG...I honestly don't remember if it was WA2 or Legend of Dragoon. Technically it was Dragon Warrior on NES but I was too young and couldn't read so that made it impossible to move out of the very first room LOL

That Lunar is the very first Lunar which was back on the Sega CD I believe. I know Lunar 2 was original on Sega CD as well.

I need to get Star Ocean 2 but I'm still considering if I should just get it on PSP with SO1 or get the original PS1 version, which is like $170+ @_@

I had FFVII before I ever had WA2 but mom wouldn't let me play it thanks to the T rating and because it said Blood on the back. I got to play Legend of Dragoon because I was able to prove there was no blood in it (Even though there was and I didn't realize it until later but I still got to play it)

I was actually able to play FFVII because I made a deal with mom that if I beat Legend of Dragoon I could play FFVII. Took me a little while but I finally beat the last boss (Who previously gave me a ton of trouble and couldn't beat him)

Oh and the handheld IS the controller so I'll never understand how people can view a handheld and a console controller as different, just because you don't have to look at the controller to play the game? lol

I can agree with that for the most part. And I like the deal you made with your mom, very smooth sir. But it's not a SNES Controller, do I need to post the pic again? :P I don't know, it's just not the same for me (I STILL LIKE HAND HELD CONSOLES!!!!!)

Only thing I can see is the difference is that it feels different but then again, there's a difference between an SNES and a Genesis controller, a Dualshock from a 360 controller and so on. It's just a difference in controller is all! :P

I'm really in an RPG mood now. I should go grind in WA2. I have to grind to beat the last three optional bosses in the game. Once I beat them I can beat the game and move on but I made a vow that I would 100% this game since I am such a huge fan of it. xD

HAH! I see what you did there. Final Fantasy 7 is awesome, if not a bit overrated. It gets way too much praise in my opinion, though it still be an amazing game, and still standing one of the best in the whole series. And I still play my old Zelda games from time to time. Actually played through Ocarina of Time recently and that was loads of fun :D.

Final Fantasy VII, well it had it's charm but the thing hasn't aged very well in the last couple of years. Has its legacy been blown out of proportions? hell yeah, I think it's more of a nostalgia factor at this point more than anything else.

Gahh! ZELDA. IS. NOT. AN. RPG.

IT IS AN ACTION GAME WITH RPG ELEMENTS.

Okay, now that I got that out my system, to actuall respond.

I still haven't beaten FF7, even though I've had it for nearly 7 years (bought it at a garage sale. Black label copy with original manual, everything in good condition, and with a PS1 memory card, all for TEN DOLLARS :D :D :D). I'm not even that far, I've gotten to the part on disc one where Cloud is flash backing about Sephiroth and stuff.

Devil Survivor is really great. Another one I still haven't beaten, although I'm almost there. Then I'm going to do NG+ a few times to get more endings :)

Right now I'm making my way through the extensive post-game of Star Ocean 3. More specifically, I'm spending hundreds of thousands of fol on refining Orihalcum and synthing it to all my main parties weapons. It's tedious but I am going to kick the shit out of Gabriel Celeste! And then I'm taking down Sphere 101-211, getting the ultimates, and spending millions of fol upgrading all of those! And then, despite all my efforts, I'll still probably get my ass handed to me by the Ethereal Queen.

I love FFVII's graphics...but I'll probably always be looking at them through my nostalgia-goggles... (Can't be helped, It's my all-time favorite game.)

Well, i like OOT, but Twilight Princess is best Zelda Game in my opinion.

To me the best (and also the fisrt i beat) is A Link to the Past, the GBA version with 4 sword included.

And yes Ocarina of Time is awesome, excepted one thing THE WATER TEMPLE

This tempre traumatized me as a child, seriously I think taht Nintendo sold more soultion book than the game itself.

The water temple wasn't all that bad. It was a nightmare the first time but I can breeze through it now. Also, the time of that dungeon is reduced by like 75% if there was a button for switching your boots rather than opening the menu everytime (I think you need to switch boots a bare minimum of like 100 times or more.)

Did I not tell you people would come in here saying Zelda was an RPG? I so called it. lol

As for SO3. I started doing post-game stuff in it a while back but stopped because ultimately I didn't feel like doing it, started a new one a couple months ago but haven't played that in a while.

Last night I was playing SO4, I'm just about to beat the game, I even got to the final boss who I fought for fifteen minutes before I realized he was healing himself for 64,000HP which I'm sure I hadn't taken that much off so the fight is basically impossible as I am now. I need stronger weapons. :(

As for FFVII, I love that game but as far as Final Fantasy games go I'd put it more in the middle of my ranking system. I like the Materia System well enough but it does that thing I absolutely hate in RPGs: When you have huge parties and there's no real definition as to what classes they are and you either choose for yourself or try to make everyone be everything. -_-

I prefer RPGs to give them defined classes and differences between the characters. It's not so bad in games with a single character to play as like in Oblivion and Fallout 3 but when you have whole parties....urgh. *Remembers why I couldn't get into Dragon Quest IV on DS)
