I'm still emotionally drained from Nintendo's disappointing conference, hopefully the 3DS segment later tonight can cheer me up...

"Well," said Pooh, "what I like best—" and then he had to stop and think. Because although Eating Honey was a very good thing to do, there was a moment just before you began to eat it which was better than when you were, but he didn't know what it was called.

Anything can literally happen in this 3DS Showcase. I have to say I'm a bit hyped.

Nope. I will say that isn't the least bit likely to happen. It's a software showcase.

Honestly I enjoyed the conference. I know a lot of people are disappointed which I can understand

I still think Nintendo had a great conference. Yes, they didn't have a lot of variety when it came to their exclusives but I'll admit this, I love 2D mario games, Pikmin 3 is gonna be great, and Nintendo Land is going to be quite fun. I was hoping for Starfox but again, we had our expectations but they weren't met

But hey, that's later down the road you know? We never know, perhaps a new F-Zero or Starfox is on the horizon, we'll just have to wait for the really good stuff to come

Except that. :P

It was confirmed not to happen, it was a rumor, Ninty denied it, so...yeah. :/

All of e3 is a software showcase? This is news to me.

If you want me to go even further: In the Nintendo Direct right before E3, Iwata said at the end that this E3 would be focused on Wii U so not to expect 3DS news until later 'opportunities'.

With what he said I just can't even begin to believe they would announce something that major here. He shot it down.

I wish Nintendo would have showed a game that showcases Wii U's power. I mean don't get me wrong, I thought Pikmin 3 and NSMBU looked great, but even though HD resolution seems to do wonders for them, they didn't seem all that graphically intensive(Pikmin 3 did start out as a Wii game after all, and it shows). I really hope that whenever they show a new 3D Mario, Metroid, Zelda, or something, it blows everyone away, but we don't even truly know the system's power yet, so I can only hope those games will do that at this point.

Fixed ;) Generally speaking, they actually were similar in graphics capability, so yeah.

Anyways, I was questioning it too with Pikmin and NSMBU, but just barely. The games looked so much improved from their previous ones (especially NSMB, the series looks epic with an awesome HD graphics, and fully detailed and mega-polygon 3D models). Again, since it's near it's final development stage (if not finished already), it still looks amazingly improved, and they might have room for a teeny bit more improvement too.

So...no animal crossing?

*Sigh*

More info on the other games were nice, but I really wanted to know more about animal crossing.

....okay, everything shown about the new games we already know about, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Kingdom Hearts 3D, and Scribblenauts all seem like buys for me.

But there's one, BIG THING that they messed up on. What the heck were they thinking when they didn't introduce anything new?!.....

Um....hello? If I heard right, I was sure they said they were going to introduce games that WE DO NOT ALREADY KNOW ABOUT. But did we get any games we haven't heard of up to yesterday?!.... No. We knew about every single game there, so the only thing they talked about for an hour focusing on the 3DS was the games we already have knowledge of.

There's no excuse, they specifically said NEW GAMES. I really found this showcase to be highly dissapointing, in the sense that they couldn't even keep a promise.

their strategy is probably just to try to convince people that the controller is a good idea and they have plenty of 3rd party support for now... which I can't blame them since their main focus seems to be getting back the "hardcore" audience.

That, and we still have around half a year until the system is released so I imagine they want to steadily increase the hype for it rather than give all the information away at once.

So I can't blame them for taking that route, it's probably the smarter route, but I admit I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. I really expected at least one new first party WiiU game and for them to talk about more of the WiiU's online capabilities.... I'm not disappointed with the 3ds conference, I was really hoping to see more of Animal Crossing, but they've done well in convincing me that Castlevania, Kingdom Hearts, Paper Mario, New Super Mario Bros, Epic Mickey, and Luigi's Mansion are all going to be great games. I'm actually more interested in Epic Mickey than ever now after that presentation - it sounded like the guy had a passion for the older Mickey games which I loved as well, but I do find it very odd that it's completely 2d; I can't see them justifying full price for the game if it's only in 2d the whole way through even if it's fun.

What. just. happened.

Where. is. Animal. Crossing.

This makes no sense whatsoever. None at all.

Maybe...they need more time to perfect it?

I so hope so. This better mean a better experience or else I'll be even more ticked off.

In my opinion, I'm thinking everyone's a little too hard on Nintendo but that's just me

We all had high expectations for some new game to surprise us. We already knew about Pikmin 3, the New Super Mario Bros U game was predictable, and Nintendo Land while does look quite a lot of fun, wasn't the game we were looking for to surprise us

I was hoping for a Starfox game or something by Retro Studios, but again I'm still happy with the conference since the Wii U has a lot of promise

They don't even care about Animal Crossing. Not even the developers. As we saw with City Folk.

I wanted to see that they did, I wanted to see that maybe they did this time because the game does look different.

...but really, 'perfect' it? I seriously doubt they need anymore time to 'perfect' it. Nintendo is just too concerned with releasing every single Mario spin-off they possibly could to care.

Give them credit where it's due... Nintendo absolutely does care about Animal Crossing, the truth is that City Folk was basically just Animal Crossing DS transported onto the Wii with the little City add-on and better graphics. Even the option is there for you to import your town from the ds game...

But there are huge differences between the original and the one for the DS, and there will be huge differences on the 3ds game. There has already been a lot of great new concepts shown that are completely different from City Folk. So I'm still looking forward to it, and when they make an animal crossing for WiiU I hope that becomes another new game instead of just an enhanced port of the 3ds game coming out.

Animal Crossing 3ds also has a pretty in depth 10 minute developer roundtable as well so maybe they kind of felt like it was already covered

I think Nintendo was ok on E3, Didn't really follow them, did watch their (first?) conference live.

Not really a nintendo gamer, I have access to a Wii here, but that's about it.

I always get the feeling that their target audience isn't as active or dedicated to E3 as those for Sony, Microsoft and the others. Or Nintendo's target group is just too select and the bit of time they do spend on the other groups is not enough to justify the effort required. (as in watching through all other things from nintendo and their new Hardware)

I don't really see myself playing with their WiiU controller, mainly games that I can also get on other platforms, even if it is without the additional controller benifits.

I spend all my money on the Playstation side (and well... PC), No money for the other parties, let alone time to play it all. My range of games I want to play is just too big

All in All, I got the biggest kick from the Ubisoft and Sony conference. Watch Dogs was my biggest surprise and what a surprise that was... Sony showed me I got some good value in my purchases, really happy about that.

Microsoft, bit too much tacked on Kinect (again) for me. Did show some interesting things like Halo 4 as the lore behind it is nice, it's nice the forerunners show an appearance. I don't own any xbox or xbox related content like the Halo series though. Don't care enough about the games themselfs anyway. But that's just me

I'm always sorry.

Did not want to bother you

I'll just sit over here

Yeah, I think everypony in the big 3 was a bit iffy with their target audience, which in Sony and Microsoft's case, most people think should be hardcore gamers, but they both have seemed to shift over to casual a little bit too much; and in Nintendo's case, doesn't seem to bring the impression upon people that they are not just a casual company.

Anyways, to think positive for once, the games they talked about, especially NSMB2 and Paper Mario, are really getting me hooked with all these new gameplay elements. I have to say, even though they're re-hashing a lot of these games, they do a lot to really improve them.

I think Super Smash Bros. Brawl has a new challenger:

Oh yes, that does remind me, I do believe that this was the biggest fail this year at E3 2012.

I'm sorry, but I have no idea what else was as big of a fail as that this year.

I'm not actually knocking the game itself, I'm knocking the fact that they originally put those as it's tags. Its very unprofessional, and doesn't help the idea that this game isn't a rip off of the Smash series.
