I did it once when I was a teenager because B&W movies look better when the TV is set for B&W. I forgot to switch it back and my dad got annoyed by it, but only because he didn't know how to turn the color back on.

Did it once but didn't get in trouble for it. We had fun pretending it was the 50s and all the sitcoms and the nightly news were still in b&w for about a week. Still change it back sometimes.
