The 80s were the best decade for cartoon themes.

I'm thoroughly convinced this is the case. You can say what you want about the quality of the cartoons themselves, but there's no denying that so many cartoons in the 80s had catchy and memorable theme songs. I'm talking about Ducktales, He-Man, Transformers, Chip 'n' Dale, Heathcliff, Adventures of the Gummi Bears, and Ninja Turtles.

What do you think? And why were the themes for 80s cartoons so good?

Eh; personally I don't see much of a difference in theme quality. Yeah you had your great themes like Silverhawks, Ducktales, and the like, but at the same time, and I may be in the minority here, but the Transformers theme always felt like a mess to me and He-Man's is just...there. Of course, a lot of themes from that time are fun like Thundercats, but then again you have Dungeons and Dragons.

Now-a-days with themes like Steven Universe, Star vs. the Forces of Evil, Gravity Falls, and others, I'd say we have plenty of good animation theme songs these days. Yeah, we have some crap ones as well, but still, you take the good with the bad in ever decade.

Most every cartoon today is a pile of poor animation mixed with unamusing toilet humour.

That is true with adult cartoons. They think dirty language means funny.

I disagree with this, but the opinion is a sensible one to have.

Personally, I think the current decade has had better cartoon themes than the 80's had. Between Star VS the Forces of Evil, Steven Universe, We Bare Bears... The theme songs of them are all fantastic.

Musical sense and quality programming was just better overall back then. I'd include Tiny Toon Adventures from 1989 and a few early '90s cartoons like Animaniacs and Pinky and the Brain as well.
