Nintendo has 'No plans' for Virtual Console on Switch

Nintendo wants to avoid going third-party, because that would lead to INFERIOR Plug-N-Play Devices like what AtGames is doing for SEGA! Still, I'm glad I got the SNES Classic Edition, and have almost a hundred games on there! I just want to see if someone would make a GBA Script Port of Mega Man & Bass like someone did for Final Fantasy V. I just wanna know when the NES Classic Edition will come back, and end up available, because I missed it the first time around, and I wanna get this edition, not just because it has TWO Controllers instead of one! They probably need to offer up an incentive, like say EarthBound Beginnings. To Unlock it, YOU ALL WILL KNOCK GARLAND DOWN in Final Fantasy.

They make dumb decisions but their passion for making games is still great. They're one of the few who care about making fun and quality experiences.

For me though, that doesn't justify anti-consumer practices like this and being far behind industry standards when there are no complaints on their compeition's behalf for having these features. Nobody minds having extra features on the other consoles, but when those features are actively avoided by Nintendo for the Switch, people then act as if that stuff simply is never needed, some going so far to say that those features should NEVER be on the Switch, citing it as a 'wrong focus' from Nintendo. In my view, requiring the use of a terrible phone app that will also soon require their paid service just for voice chat or requiring the paid service for cloud saves despite giving us no other option, that isn't exactly a good focus either. On the One the cloud service is free and PS4 it isn't free, but you can back up the saves to a flash drive or something similar. Nope, gotta have the paid service, so congrats Nintendo on entering the realm of 6 years ago.

All of that can be seen as minor to some people, but all of it ON TOP of this garbage decision for the Virtual Console, it adds up making me resent it. I have at least 8-12 virtual console games across my 3DS and previously owned Wii U, which adds up to about $100 or so for the ones I got. I should be able to play those on the new system given that both of those were on the Nintendo Network and used the eShop, both of which are on the Switch. Nah, instead, Nintendo let's the Wii U die because of their own incompetence meaning my purchases on that were entirely worthless. Such a great way to show one's appreciation to those who actually supported that failure of a console, by making any and all purchases on that hold nothing later on with zero backwards compatibility and no Virtual Console at all. Having some good games doesn't mean they can treat the consumer like puppets.

And how did you get this? By buying it from the eShop perhaps? That's all fine and dandy, but that further proves my point. The only way to experience that game on the Switch is by basically repurchasing it even if you owned it on the Wii U or 3DS.

Then again, Nintendo is a company that is dumb enough to not make our 3DS and Wii U VC purchases transfer between each other, so I shouldn't be surprised anymore.

Although I do not necessarily 100% agree with them myself, I do think that the "extra features" that people are talking about the Switch not having that they don't care about are the multimedia ones, and not stuff like messaging, which I'm pretty sure is a feature that could more universally be argued that it should be there.

Nintendo did away with the Nintendo Network with the Switch, though, didn't they? You see that's why we're dealing with crap like Friend Codes again. Nintendo finally did away with it, and we finally had gamertags, but then with the Switch they're like "Nope, you have to use friend codes again". It's really crappy, and it just feels so.. I don't have the word for it right now.

I agree with you that VC purchases should transfer from system to system. However, I don't know that the competition is perfect on this either. I know with the PlayStation you have separate purchases for classics on the PS3 from the PS4. It's... a bit crappy there, too, unfortunately. The dream of gradually building up our libraries of classics over time with each system is sadly not a possibility, and it really makes purchasing them feel pointless.

Do you know how happy I would be right now if my VC purchases from the Wii and Wii U transferred to my Switch? That would be amazing, but alas.

Funny, Nintendo has just turned around and made the Wii U a very desirable system for people who want classic games. The Wii U has an excellent VC library that spans even into GBA and DS games. Nintendo is missing the boat BIG TIME by not bringing this to the Switch. Like I can not even believe they're missing this opportunity. The Switch is such a desirable system for VC.

I'm about to go on a trip and would have loved to have some of my Wii U VC games to tide me over, like Earthbound/Mother 2 which I bought on the Wii U but never got around to... Sadly, I don't think my Switch will get much play on the trip, because there just isn't much on it altogether. VC would have helped.

I never said it was a justification. I don't think Nintendo is doing this out of malice, but ignorance. Nintendo has always been like this.

I guess. Nintendo and Sega were a HUGE part of my childhood. But it feels like Nintendo lost some of it's spirit, the great games aren't coming out as frequently. NES and SNES had tons of iconic games, not so much with the Switch. They need to stop trying to port games that the Switch CLEARLY can't handle (*cough* WWE2k18 *cough* *cough).
