BTS in MLP?

Sure why not? Although celebrity cameos tend to be rather tactful in the show, it could be interesting.

Somehow, the concept of a K-pop boy band starring in MLP would be pretty dissonant with both the show's tone and budget (unless they could both pull together the funds to pay them and work them into a reasonable context instead of shoehorning them in), but I wouldn't immediately diss it. If we can have a Robot Chicken voice actress on this show, then a boy band is fair game, I guess.

and yet, we have multiple ponies of Pop, like Coloratura, Sapphire Shores (a Lady Gaga parody), and Sia/ Songbird Serenade

k-pop seems fair game to me

When I saw BTS, I was thinking of Beyond The Sword :P

Well that Taiwanese singer Jolin has an official Ponysona now, with Hasbro merchandise, so it's possible. I never really got into celebrity cameos unless it's really over the top, like the Jack Black appearance in iCarly (which still makes me laugh).

Well as a fan of MLP and BTS, I would be thrilled to see an crossover between them.

Well, why not. But that is kind of a random combination. Maybe they could be a famous idol group of Equestria in a music related episode like The Mane Attraction. But if put them all together in one episode (even if they are not an idol group in the show) it might be too obvious that they are members of BTS and break the 4th wall unintentionally. It might be a really awesome fanservice but not serving the story itself. All the special guests before were put in an episode and fit very naturally. (Even Wired Al acted like the real life himself but worked for the plot first.) There is a possibility that it might feel like a guest appearance in The Simpsons episode in a bad way.

Right now, I can't think of a way to put them in the show naturally.

I have nothing wrong with celebrities being in the show, but when studios do things like what they did with Sia, that rubs me the wrong way. I love the song she sang, but I can't stand that they made Songbird as if Sia literally stepped through a mirror into Equestria. Same thing bothered me with the Aerosmith moment at the end of Polar Express. It yanks me completely out of the immersion.

(Cheese Sandwich was a rare exception because they didn't try to duplicate Weird Al completely, and the character was detached enough from his usual persona that I didn't even catch on to who it was for a while, aside from "OK I know this guy, who in the..." Maybe it helped too that it was an episode that was almost 100% goofy)

I agree - it has to be done right. When it stinks of product placement...it stinks of product placement.

I think it worked because they were like "We need a goofy singing polka pony. Someone like Wired Al. Wait. Why don't we use the real guy for the role?". They thought of the plot and the character first, then cast the person. Like Discord and John de Lancie. Plots first.
