Japan and Pony

Pony in Japan doesn't get talked about much. I don't think pony is all too popular there (unfortunately).....seasons 4-8 never got greenlit there.....However, I could be wrong- they seem fond of opening up  pony themed cafes over there, and Equestria Girls- pony-ish humans are still rather popular in the land of the rising sun.

But regardless of its popularity, what do you guys want to see come out of Japan, in the field of MLP?

Personally, I'd want to see some Pony Lolita or shironuri crossovers (like promotions with Moi Meme Moitie or Minori), or Visial Kei bands promoting the pony brand (Versailles). We could be getting some very VERY fancy and stylish (and no doubt, expensive) ponies from Japan, if so. (eat your heart out, Rarity)

A good video game
EQG X Super Sentai or Sailor Moon(the former especially given Hasbro now owns Power Rangers)

An EQG manga since they gave one to MLP

Spoiler

And to wash the horrible taste of the IDW EQG input out of my mouth

The artwork is there, if you look for it. Also, to be fair, there are thousands of cute Japanese characters that the designers work with over there. I don't think it so wrong that they want to stick with what is in demand.

Equestria Girls seems more popular in Japan because it uses more anime tropes than FiM. They even tried to edit FiM into an anime format, and I guess it didn't work out all that well. (Meanwhile, FiM is still fairly popular in China, and EQG seems nowhere to be found.)

As for what I want to see? Something not anime or manga-ish. There's more to Japanese culture than those.

Well yeah, pony in Japan doesn't get talked about much here since we're too busy talking about the regular American version. :P It's been picking up some steam there though, we just need to give it more time to settle in.

Everyone loves Misty. For good reason, of course. :3

Just to be clear, the fact that a single person opened of a pony themed cafe doesn't prove anything regarding the shows popularity in Japan.

Espically not since the cafe in question were more inspired by the previous generations.

I mean, do we talk about pony in any specific country much? For example, I don't recall any topics about "Pony in Sweden" or "Pony in Germany".

pony from previous gens is still pony. I don't discriminate. Furthermore, it's still being called attention to, no matter what gen of pony the cafe is themed around. Pony is pony.

No one's stopping others from making topics related to pony content outside of the U.S (and Japan).

There's not much too talk about.

Unlike North America, animation is highly regarded in Japan. There's a greater appreciation for it. Which also means there's more shows being made and more competition for attention. MLP isn't exactly gonna be a barn stormer with so much anime being released, on top of whatever other western releases are making waves. Also Japan was kinda the birthplace of guys liking shows for girls, so it's not gonna stand out on that front either. To them, it's just another cartoon.

You are not getting discriminated in japan if you like cute stuff, or in asia at all usually. So I see that as a plus for MLP.

They also seem to like some stuff on western culture - former EU kindoms, German fairy tales, using randomly English (or more rare, German) words in their anime.

There is also this very original unique FiM opener in Japan, lol...

I actually kinda like this intro more than the... Normal intro. It's funny. I wonder if the Japanese version has been changed as well, like the season 8 intro.
