I think her main goal was to make them suffer by not ever meeting. The problem with her plan is that she thought that there lives would most definitely be worse without meeting each other. She was right on most cases but... there's no reason to know that for sure.

Another problem is in the simple idea of if they would even suffer by not knowing each other. For example, if someone told me that in another life ...I was a millionaire, i would be like cool but that wouldn't really make the me now upset about not being a millionaire. 

Despite all the magical ponies... they tend to have realistic interpretation of the unknown.

Nah, that's just good publicity and boosts your credibility. When you have the okay from a princess that she likes your philosophy, then you'll most certainly gain the princess's followers too. It's like getting the chance to be the president's choice of something. You know if he likes it then he will let others know about it and that will boost your publicity. It's the same exact reasoning why she had to use force later. You can't let a princess get away after seeing the behind the scenes stuff or she'll blow your whole operation wide open to her followers if she doesn't agree with it.
