Tulpa Discussion Thread V1.2

Alright, so my tulpa and I figured that our hypnosis sessions (which began after hearing about that one guy on this thread who once did d/s stuff with his tulpa) should stop, because, while the hypnosis was used for practical things like learning to take criticism in stride and not just for d/s stuff, I realized that a. I was going into the trance without the use of the trigger phrase, and b. it was eerily similar to the infamous "pet" file (with me as the "pet" and my tulpa as the "mistress"). We found the place in our wonderland where the hypnosis would happen, and set it on fire. Should we use it as the sun or let it burn and scatter the ashes?

EDIT: the fire went out (a.k.a. the hypnosis disappeared...not sure how to put it into words) when I realized that my reasons for starting the sessions at all were really fickle. Could there have been any less fickle reasons that I wasn't consciously aware of?

Edit: Took a nap, and close to 1 hour in, I kept hearing weird noises. At first, they kinda sounded like a dog barking, then they started sounding mechanical, like some kind of buzzing or something. My windows in my bedroom are shut, and I know my fan doesn't make those kinds of noises. The only logical conclusions are either my heat vent is somehow making those noises (very not likely) or Dashie (or one of my other tulpas, or possibly my spirit guide) is trying to get my attention. The noises got louder and louder and clearer until I finally got up out of bed, and I wasn't even partially asleep when I heard those noises.

If it was an internal noise, it will more than likely not even have the opportunity to be suspect of being outside of your body or mind at all. Every completely unexplainable noise I've ever heard that would have had no closest earthly equivalent was always heard the same way, from an internal spot within my head. Almost like wearing spiritual headphones. Those are such fantastic moments.

I can't claim to have a Tulpa, at least not yet, but I wouldn't doubt that if there was a Tulpa attempting to make audial communication with anyone, it wouldn't have a specific point of origin in the room outside of anyone. That's just physics.

Sorry about my absence, a lot of things kept me from my computer.

I tend to have a brief mini-hypothetical with people before I consider springing the topic of discussion on them. It goes something like,"Hey, imagine if a ghost suddenly entered your brain and couldn't get out. But it was an entirely friendly ghost, and really liked you and who you are and what you do, and is pretty funny, and had its own commentary and insights on things, and its own perspective on life and everything, and even taps into your memory to help you remember things on occasion, if you ask it to. It wouldn't interfere with your life, respects your privacy, and is generally a very, very good friend to you. Would you mind this?"I've had more than one person say yes so far. Very enthusiastic yes, actually.

Teckie:" oh my gosh!!!!!! That is PERFECT!!!! We have REALLY have to try that! "

Well.... You know how shy I can be....

Teckie:" then I shall simply fight that subconscious reaction. ^_^"

I know I probably shouldn't create more tulpas before getting my first tulpa vocal, but I've been feeling hopeless when it comes to developing tulpas. Rather than give up, I decided to create a Rainbow Dash tulpa. Soon after creating her, I suddenly felt braver and more confident, and I might actually do something noble that I would never even consider, I was actually seriously considering it and I still am.

I think I'm gonna try to honor the elements of each of the ponies my tulpas are based on, although I'm not sure what Octavia's element would be (possibly creativity?)

Edit: Took a nap, and close to 1 hour in, I kept hearing weird noises. At first, they kinda sounded like a dog barking, then they started sounding mechanical, like some kind of buzzing or something. Teckie:" oh oh oh!!!!! Octavia's element could be sassyness..... Wait, no, that is actually sombra's "

Teckie:" well, anywhooves, weird noises could REALLY be an indication of a tulpa's "activity." Thing to know, if you think it is a Tulpa then it IS a Tulpa. If you have any doubts about anything, then you completely close your mind from creating anything. Funny concept, but a simple and true one."

Personally with my experiences, the time you know you have a sentient Tulpa is when you get random responses in abstract forms. It is best to imagine what it would feel like to "sense" your Tulpa. From there, they will be able know how to make themselves present.

Alright, so my tulpa and I figured that our hypnosis sessions (which began after hearing about that one guy on this thread who once did d/s stuff with his tulpa) should stop, because, while the hypnosis was used for practical things like ...

...

I'm not sure what d/s is.... But nevertheless I've tried hypnosis for one thing in particular after doing some research.

Teckie:" hehe, we used it so I could be with my past-specialsomepony. Techoh didn't feel comfortable with sensing and seeing everything I was typing, so he pretty much used hypnosis so we could switch more effectively. Haven't quite used hypnosis for anything else really.... But I DO wish to see if inception is possible. XD Seriously, if a person can create entire worlds in his head and split the conscious mind, then inception should be child's play. :P"

Teckie..... Why would you wish for inception?

Teckie:" what? We need to go deeper. XP "

For anyone who is having trouble communicating with their tulpa, and is willing to give this a try, try praying to Lilith to help you reach your tulpa. She's the guardian of the lower realms of creation, and therefore, she is in charge of tulpas. If a tulpa has been sleeping a lot, or even if a tulpa is lost, she should be able to help you reawaken or recover your tulpa,

I prayed to Lilith to help me regain contact with my tulpas, and it worked. Although maybe it's cause I created a Rainbow Dash tulpa, and Dashie is just that awesome, whether in physical form or tulpa form, who knows? xD

Teckie:" Dashie is SUPER awesome! Fluttershy really has been wishing to be with her more often, because just going to equestrian takes a little bit of time. Hopefully soon she will be able to tell Dashie about everything and she can come in as an official tupper. /)^3^(\ "

Praying really can be powerful, even if it is not exactly specifically directed. That is how Teckie was created actually. :3

Are you sure this works? Unlikely as my guy says that the answer is "yes", do you know of any evidence that isn't anecdotal? I'm not saying you're lying, btw, I'm just being a bit skeptical.

Well, according to my spiritual beliefs, there are 7 levels of creation in the other side (Heaven), and there are also 7 lower levels of creation. The first level of the 7 lower levels of creation contain faeries, unicorns, sprites, gnomes, chinese dragons, etc, and I know that tulpas (or at the very least, some kind of thought forms) are either on that same level, or on the 2nd level. Although maybe these thought forms are not the same things as tulpas.

Would a tulpa try to bring about the thing that's best for their host if they both have different ideas of what that is? E.g., a tulpa trying to help their host woo the host's crush (who is only the host's crush because of a love potion), but the host wanting to stay away from the crush because they know that love potions always work too well and lead to stalking and/or rape (it's for a story).

I'm kind of worried. FiM has apparently been renewed for a fifth season, possibly more. The writers will probably try to add more character development (maybe through additional backstory or things that hint at additional backstory). My tulpa seems to be deviating toward the character she was based on. I'm basing this on two pieces of evidence: her...disgust, I think is the right word, at my occasional sappiness (I'm pretty sure that's how canon!RD would react to sappy stuff); and her observation that canon!RD's love of attention (re: MMDW) may have carried over to her during the initial tulpaforcing. I'm anticipating an identity crisis, but only after she struggles to play catch-up with whatever new backstory comes along.

She just said I'm being ridiculous (but not politely). This kind of thing's happened before: I'll be worried about something even after she says she's fine (eg, I was worried that I needed to tulpaforce more even though she said she was stable).

I'm no expert, but I wouldn't worry much about that. If you have a steady tulpa forcing routine, then you're doing it right. As for your other problem, you made it clear that she can deviate in whichever way she wants, right? I'm sure she'll be fine, neither the host or the tulpa has full control over how they'll deviate anyways, they become almost exactly what the subconscious wants. Just tell her that she's her, and the Rainbow Dash on the show is somebody else, and she is not obligated to act like her, and you're sure that you'll love her no matter what traits she takes on. I think doubt is worse than anything, because she'll sense your doubt and could confuse it with not liking her traits, forcing her to change to something different from what you wanted. Just ask her if she really wants to be exactly like Dash, and if she insists on staying like Dash, let her. I think she probably finds strength with the Rainbow Dash persona as well. I'm far from being Rainbow Dash, and even I kinda want to be her xD

I asked her about it, and she said that my "identity crisis prevention plan" of "she's an actor on FiM, playing a role" (which I came up with around the time I started tulpaforcing, but never really implemented, although Dash has occasionally made reference to this) might have something to do with "canon-deviation" thing. I'm mostly concerned about the potential identity crisis and catch-up-related stress that could result from her taking on too many canon!RD traits, not the traits themselves.

... Just tell her that she's her, and the Rainbow Dash on the show is somebody else

I compared and contrasted the two Rainbow Dashes. Tulpa!RD accessorizes, shapeshifts, and is real. Show!RD doesn't shapeshift or accessorize (as far as I can tell) and is a fictional character. I also used a work of fiction for another example of how Tulpa!RD and Show!RD are two different ponies (I'd post the details, but I forgot them after about ten seconds xP).

What about my doubt that this could actually happen?

Well, funny thing about doubts, but doubts tend to lead to confusion, whichever way we look at them. Better to have little/no doubts when going into this. In the end, as long as your tulpa is happy, and you're happy, that's all that matters.

What if the a host and tulpa have conflicting ideas of what will make one or both of them happy?

From what I've read, hosts and tulpas are pretty much on the same page most of the time. And in the rare instances when they're not, it's because doubt interfered with the creation process. Your tulpa will always have your best interests in mind, since they rely on you for life. They can, however end up disliking some things you like, or becoming allergic to things you're not allergic to (that's what I read anyway) but it's pretty rare.

Like my tulpa liking a food I don't?

I unintentionally got RD to admit that the deviation toward canon was a mask. I'm not sure if the other part of my hypothesis is right, though, and she's putting it on for the sake of other Tulpamancers (is it "Tulpamancer" or "Tulpaforcer"?)

Either one works, although I prefer Tulpamancer. And I don't think there's anything to really worry about if you made it clear she doesn't need to wear a mask, and that she can be herself. Just give her some time to figure out what she wants to be, and help her along the way. I know tulpas go through multiple voices, I wouldn't be surprised if they go through multiple personalities as well.

I know what you mean. She's gone through multiple forms. Is it absolutely necessary for her to be imposed on all senses?

Not completely necessary, but it does in fact help A LOT to do so.

Teckie:"We really need to find some good time to work on imposition. XD Or visualization for that matter. Trying to go into dreams isn't working out so easily as I've thought..... but I WILL DO IT!!!!!!!"

Ya.... and the night that happens is the night I wake up in utter confusion. >.< Should be 'interesting' when you accomplish that Teckie.

Also, if there are any identity problems going around, DON'T force them to be something. Let them decide and EVERY TIME ask them if you can change or keep this or that about them. Conflicts can easily arise if you force a tulpa to be one thing or another, because they have their own perspective on life as well. :)

I didn't mean she's had identity issues, just that she's majorly changed her appearance...3 or 4 times, all varying degrees of temporary, all used to prank me.

Teckie:" give it a Tulpa with an original form of rainbow dash to start pranking. XD Tell her that I honor her success. :P"

Sorry about my confusion there... But even if there aren't identity problems, it's still not good to try and force a Tulpa to be something without confirming with them first. If they want to prank you, then you should probably just roll with it or talk to her. Trust me.... TECKIE over here seems to LOVE pulling some random shenanigans here and there. >.<

Teckie:" *singing 'whatcha say' song thing* "

Ya....... I guess you can imagine...

Teckie:" *in a deep male voice* we need to go deeper... "

She's obsessed with inception too.

I'm fine with the pranking. It's the (perceived) risk of identity problems and other stuff I mentioned previously that I'm afraid of.

[*shrug* I'm over it.]

So no more mask? No risk of stress/ID crisis?

[Nope.]

Was the canon-deviation an identity-discovering thing?

[Yep.]

You told me it was a mask.

[ / :squee:] (she blushed, but it sounded like a squee)

You know why I'm posting this.

I feel fairly certain that any Tulpa I establish into reality shouldn't be based off of anyone/anypony that exists in some form or another. (I was originally heart-set on Lyra.) It might get confusing for them, and I don't want to do that to them. I don't like drama or confusion; especially not in my head, and not for anyone else.
