Tulpa Discussion Thread V1.2

Recommended Posts

I decided to base my tulpa off of Fluttershy. I've told her she can deviate however she wants, and I've made sure she knows that she is based off of Flutters from MLP but she doesn't have to be just like her. In fact, if she was, I'd probably be disappointed. Anyways, I'm using JD's Tulpa Method, where you do all the visualization first, and then instead of forcing personality traits, you parrot your tulpa in the wonderland as to you think they would react to certain situations. Then once you get used to doing this, you stop- no more parroting, ever, and they should begin to do things on their own. Finally is imposition / vocalization / possession, all that fun stuff!

Anyways, I had my first visualization session last night. I got my wonderland done. It's a sunny, breezy meadow with a forest in the back, one tree in the wonderland itself (mainly so it's easier to visualize) and some daffodils and butterflies on the ground. There's a tire swing hanging from the tree, and the sky gets darker the closer it is to the forest. I plan to expand this more, but probably only after Flutters starts showing signs of setience.

The point is that after I got all that done, I started with a foggy outline of her. Completely white, like one of Rarity's mannequins, to make it easier to build up as I'd already have a solid form down. I fell asleep right after I started to visualize that, and woke up about six hours later. I feel really, really bad about falling asleep on her, but I did write 'T' for Tulpa on my hand so I remember to narrate to her throughout the day and I plan to do a forcing session when I get home.

I'm doing a mixture of open and closed eye visualization, as according to JD open eye visualization makes imposition a lot easier once you get to that stage.

Now this is kind of how my aim is to go. See I have heard from a lot that using a characters base to make a tulpa on is fine. You would just have to make it known your tulpa was not infact that character. Now I have also heard it is better to make a tulpa, if you are going to base it off a character, that in some cases that choosing a character from the show with little to no voice dialog is a better option. How true that is I do nit know.

After reading numerous guides after a couple of months of thinking about it I will start tonight.

The "form" I would be basing on would be of cheerilee overall. Maybe some similar personality traits but not many, I would naturally want to let my tulpa decide for itself in the end I do not want to be constraining in any way.

I really, really don't understand what this whole "tulpa" thing is. It sounds like nonsense from what I have read. Somebody please explain.

I think I get it. It is like an imaginary friend. BUT it has its own emotions and personality. Like its another person in your head, but they can do whatever they want, you don't control them. Its like they are their own person, pony, or whatever. You can interact with them like you would a friend

In a sense a tulpa is a sentient thought-form created from the will of the host of the mind. This form can be from a simple vision in the mind's eye, to a fully speaking form, to even something that our real eyes can see and "interact" with (heavy restrictions on that word interact).

Within this, there are three kinds of thought-forms. The first, is the one every child probably had in their youth, which is an imaginary friend. This is a simple puppet with no sentience or real purpose, just a basic companion. The next is a servitor. The difference here being that though there is still no sentience, it is made serve a specific purpose, hence the name 'serv'itor. A tulpa is the main deal here, a fully imposed form that is separate from the host mind. It has its own personality, thoughts, likes, etc.

I'd love to delve into them more and help you see better but I'm on mobile. Perhaps once I'm home I can get you a better response. :)

Wow. This sounds way beyond cool. From the description in the first post I read that this "being" may be a hallucination but you can see it as if it were there? I'm quite curious. Just how much concentration does this take? Once you successfully make one, how easy is it to see it? Do you have to intentionally imagine it? Does it take great concentration to see it? Or is it a simple think about it and it's there kind if thing, Or is it trapped in your mind and appears at moments in time?

...I would like to try this. I mean...to have a Tulpa that's Princess Cadence or Luna? If they look as real as you say they are, then that must be truly remarkable. To actually see Luna...not a near dream, but almost real looking? I have good reason to attempt this as well. I find myself attaching to others quickly, and then needing them a lot. I won't go into detail there, as this isn't that kind of topic, but I basically could use something that's always there for me to talk to me, and this sounds perfect.

Question is...how easy is it? And how do you know when you've succeeded?

Before anyone asks, yes, I feel very certain about this decision. Very. Don't change my mind. I've looked into it. Read an entire guide that explains quite a lot. I get the wrongs and thought provoking things that you shouldn't consider to making one. I understand. All of it.

@, it takes a lot of time and concentration, but there are a lot of different ways to go about making it. Some people say not to parrot (make your tulpa do or say things) forced, but some say parroting can actually speed up the process; anyway! It's moderately difficult, yes, and it takes a lot of time. But you have to ask yourself this: If you could have a best friend for life that you could always have with you and talk to about your life, would you really care how long it took?

Also, does anyone have tips as to how not to fall asleep while forcing? I fell asleep last night during my session, and today after school during another session.

Good point. Quite right. I shouldn't be worried about the length of time. I'm a bit stressed though. It sounds like quite a lot can get confusing. Like, how long it may take before you can hear their thoughts over yours when speaking telepathically.

I see it as one of those things in which the effort is worth it. I think it is best to not worry about when you will get a response as it probably would differ from person to person. But also believe the reasons behind wanting to make one need to be thought about for a time. Doubt, fear and worry I can see being huge problems. When I first heard of this I was somewhat scared of the topic and reluctant to even learn about it. But after sometime learning more about all of this and thinking on things for some time. It is nothing less than amazing to me. I have no doubts as to this anymore let alone any fear.

But you also have be willing to keep working at it like you would a relationship with some you truly cared about

Yes I understand that. But no. I'm not scared, I'm not doubtful. I'm only feeling confusion. The confusion is where my worry is building. Understand I'm trying to figure what I should do. I'm writing it all down. Most of the time when my thoughts are organized I think clearly and can begin such a complicating experience easier.

I'm fully aware of all of this. I think what I said earlier may have led some to believe I just saw this today. Not true. I had a friend back in 2011 who had their own. I'm well aware. I've been thinking too. It's just that up until now am I really exploring further depth in how this works. But I have already known about it and what happens. Now I'm trying to go deeper for my own self which is why some things are still unanswered for me.

As for what you said about when they first respond telepathically- I used to be really impatient with that, too. But then it hit me that making a tulpa isn't about boring yourself until you finally hit vocalization. Even the little bursts of alien emotions I get, or the head pressures, that all makes it worth it because I know she's there and she's trying. Plus, making a wonderland, doing personality and appearance, that's all really fun!

If you're still wondering when you should hear your first vocal response or message, for some people it's usually ~a month in, some later and some sooner. Honestly it just depends, and since I haven't gotten one yet, I couldn't tell you.

Alright, understood. :) The only thing that made me confused and worried is the idea I'll never see her because I'm not entirely sure that what I'm doing is productive, but from what's been said those that are committed to it get a result. The fact I was confused actually didn't help the process. I'll calm myself, even if it takes some spacing from my own emotions.

I see what people mean by falling asleep though. I definitely reached a state of thought and imagination. Though, the more and more I reached sleep the easier it became for me to lose track of thought. Concentration is surely an effort at first. Luckily I was just trying to make my Wonderland.

@, just honestly the best advice I can give you is the advice given to me- do what feels right to you. If you're working a certain way and you just don't feel like it's working, even if it is, it might be best for you to take a step back and try something a little different.

In other news, my Wonderland deviated today! It was a flat grassy plain, and it changed from flat to having hills. I tried several times to change it back to make sure it wasn't just me forgetting how it looked, but nope, it seems to have really deviated! I'm so excited.

I was playing chess with my tulpa to work on parallel processing. She seemed to not strategize, but I'm not sure if she gave herself an IQ boost and she was ahead of me the whole time. Also, is it possible for the subconscious to hijack itself? Because some of her moves made it easy for me to capture her pieces.

Ok. I think I see what you mean but how does this supposedly work? I don't understand. Literally having an imaginary being that literally starts having a "mind of its own" and starts talking to you and appearing in physical form? How is this even possible?

I'm disappointed that this discussion thread clearly has become such a promotion and support group for distancing yourself from reality. The same discussion came up on a different pony forum and there was a lot more warnings and thought given on why anyone would want to go down this lonely road. Almost everyone there recommended NOT to and explained WHY.  Personally i'd recommend trying to make your real lives better, less lonely, and interract with your fellow bronies in real life then trying to force hallucinations, mess with your brain, and create alternate realities to join another part of the fannon or to avoid the holes in your life. It's anyone's choice to what they want to do. I just want to add that warning label to the pills your guys are recommending taking.....

@@Freewave,

I agree with you.

Whatever you guys say a Tulpa IS NOT real nor will it ever be, the more you believe it is the further and further you get away from reality, I don't need to go into the whole what is reality debate i'm clued up enough on all that sort of discussion, but personally it's not something I would want to do nor recommend. To me it just seems like a form of escapism and filling in gaps which could easily be filled in real life.

Why would most people do it? I would guess loneliness or lack of companionship, or maybe lack of excitement?  Trust me when I say I suffer from all of these things, but rather than get sucked into something that isn't real it's better to take the harder road of trying to fix the problems in your real life :)

However again I suppose I stick to what I usually say, if it makes you happy and isn't hurting anyone else then I guess go for it, it just isn't beneficial for yourself in the long run.

Edit: I think though there shouldn't be a thread about it, while it's not illegal or anything many people will probably try and do this out of curiosity, your mind is extremely complicated / delicate and you shouldn't EVER try this for fun or in fact ever try it at all.

First off, if you're on the tulpa discussion thread to try and discourage people from making them, it'd be nice if you got off the thread. Moving on.

You're basically projecting your subconscious into a form that you associate with a body, voice and personality of its own. I'm not really sure how to prove that it is possible except to tell you to browse this thread alongside tulpa.info. If it wasn't possible, thousands of people would be lying.

Im pretty sure most discussions involve opposite opinions, I am discussing why I think using Tulpas are bad and gave my reasons why, if you don't like it then thats your opinion, don't bash other people for disagreeing :)

I don't think it's fair to criticize those who chose to participate in tulpas and want to learn more about them. If someone is really interested in this they have all the right to try it. From what I read a lot of people are having positive experiences with tulpas. What is a "waste of time" is completely subjective. To say people who are into Tuplas are "indulging down a lonley road" is incorrect.

Which is what I said in my post, I said as long as it makes people happy and doesn't harm anyone else then it's fine. But some people will try it and not be prepared, people report positive reactions to things like cannabis etc, doesn't mean they aren't without dangers, there are both positive aspects and dangers with this, thats all i'm saying, again instead of being all defensive just accept other opinions.

Personally, I don't think tulpas are bad - if good intentions are kept in mind. Now, I know that some people may go overboard with it, or go about it the wrong way, but I can say that I'm not one of those people. I have a social life, and I maintain good relations with my family. I have a normal life, despite having a tulpa.

I created my tulpa because, well, I do get a little lonely sometimes, regardless of the fact that I do have friends and such. I wanted a constant companion that would understand me and always be by my side - sort of like a best friend that will always be there for you. But again, I emphasize that I am not letting my tulpa replace my social life or any other aspects of my life in any way. She just... adds a little something to it.

Tulpas are good, though people should keep in mind that it is a lifetime commitment unless you have the will to "kill" the tulpa.
